Community Feedback on Subreddit Content and Direction

Dear r/walther Members,

As a moderator of this subreddit, I have observed a mix of content in our community, including serious discussions on Walther firearms, technical inquiries, and ownership experiences, alongside lighter elements such as memes and humorous posts. While this variety can enhance engagement, there have been instances where some contributions appear to lean toward low-effort or repetitive humor, potentially resembling shitposting or circlejerk behavior.

To ensure that r/walther continues to serve as a valuable resource for enthusiasts, I am seeking your input on the subreddit's current state and potential improvements. Your feedback will help inform any adjustments to moderation guidelines, with the goal of maintaining a balanced and respectful environment.

Please share your thoughts on the following questions:

  1. How do you primarily view the purpose of r/walther? (e.g., A space for serious discussions only, a mix of serious and humorous content, or primarily for memes and lighthearted posts?)
  2. Do you believe there is an excess of low-effort or humorous posts? If so, how does this impact your experience?
  3. Should we introduce or refine rules to address this, such as requiring flairs for memes, limiting certain types of posts, or encouraging more substantive contributions?
  4. What other suggestions do you have to improve the subreddit, including topics, events, or features you would like to see?

I encourage all members to participate in this discussion respectfully. This thread will remain open for feedback over the next week, after which I will review responses and make the necessary changes.

Thank you for your contributions to making r/walther a strong community.

Best regards

PPQ 17rd mags in PDP Compact (Polymer frame)

Like the title says will the 17 PPQ mags function in a PDP Compact (regular polymer frame)? I know the 15 rounders do. Would I meed to worry about over insertion or anything?

PDP Pro SD Full-size. Just got my light and optic today. Will be ordering possibly two different guide rods from ZrTacrical. Going to get the Harrington Arms double port comp. Then likely a Taylor Freelance brass backstrap, and maybe a brass flared magwell.

So far I love the feel of this gun.

P22q is shooting low

My Walther p22q shoots a couple inches low. It has been checked by other people at the range and everyone shoots it low. I have the shortest front sight on it without it being the flat front sight. What are my options here besides just aiming a little higher?

Gun Show police PPK find

Hey all, I picked up this PPK in .32 at a local gun show this past weekend. Came with the box and 2 mags, no paperwork. The finish is almost immaculate, really just some wear on the slide around the muzzel. He had it advertised as a 1970/71 production, but if my research is correct its much more likely a 1961/62 make. It also has the crossed out Baden-Württemberg police stamp. I've always wanted one, but I am by no means an expert. If anyone could help me nail down the year of manufacture or provide any other info based on the markings it would be greatly appreciated. Super stoked to finally have a PPK in the collection!

I post here, mods there ... anyone?
Same story, 5" SF Match + ZRTS long stroke = Failed slide stop. I emailed; they responded(next day). No empathy tho. Not hating, I'll be buying their captive D spring I suppose. Just waiting on a discount code ..... maybe?
Had to call Walther to get the part (ordered 2 as I have 3 PDPs) dude was chill and said careful on the poly frame dudes be cracking them.

Put an empty mag in (like the interwebs said) and it took two solid taps and dropped out. No soaking, no beating. Luck? I'll take a little.

US passenger side first on install just make sure the mags out and spring is in the right spot over the arm.

Doesn't look like enough wear but that is enough to prevent slide lock under operation and manual attempts.

Poly Shiv pic bc it's sexy and shoots smooth.... also with a ZRTS spring/guide-rod.

Picked it up for 1k used but by the looks of it. I don’t believe the previous owner even shot it. I didn’t notice anything that indicated any use. So I’m super hype, it’s always been my dream pistol and I’m so grateful to have finally acquired it. Plus I already had a black tlr1hl and a holster!

Just picked up this Q4 tac. It didnt come with the green suppressor recoil assembly. Was wondering what others are using instead of the factory guide rod setup.

PPQ SC backstrap availability

So, does anybody know where to get the backstraps for a PPQ SC? Or if anyone makes pinky extensions for magazines besides the oem one?

Bought a new PDP 4” compact, my first CCW. Best carry options? I’m 6’2 strong/good posture but still belly

I just bought a 4” PDP compact but I’ve never conceal carried before. I’m also not a gun expert, I just practice gun safety and learn about the particular guns that I own or plan on owning. I plan on adding a green laser/flashlight to the bottom slide and green dot sight on top.

My question is what types of qualities in holsters should I look for? How should I carry it? I don’t particularly like metal or plastic against my skin but will do it if it makes more sense. I’m also 6’2” and I’m built like a fatter hockey player(huge muscular legs and glutes but with a belly) 😅.

I don’t really want to use a bag or fanny pack for day to day carrying, though would consider it when I do cycling outdoors at night.

Also: what’s your favorite secure way to securely keep your CCW in your vehicle when you go somewhere they aren’t permitted?

Thanks in advanced!

Is there a reason there is no general consensus on what the Pro E/DPT-E trigger is?

Walther says it’s the DPT just with a polymer trigger shoe, others say it’s just a PDT with a flat faced trigger. How is it that it’s been out this long yet still can’t find a true solid answer on what it is?

Walther PPQ M1 holster w/TLR1 recommendations

Hey all, I've had my Walther PPQ M1 for a couple years now just keeping it as one of my home defense weapons, but I'd like to start carrying it as my winter concealed firearm. I recently put a TLR1 HL on it. I haven't purchased a holster in quite a few years so I'm looking for some advice for what is decent these days or who even makes a holster that works with this combo. I'm quite happy with my Vedder Lighttuck for my Springfield XD Mod.2 but I'd like to consider other options as well. I absolutely hate my We The People holster, so that's out of the running. I'm looking for both an OWB and AIWB holster.
