Picture New wheels

Still need to adjust the ride height up front a little bit but spacers and white walls are off and Corsa 16x9 w/ 205/40 are on

Nice.. I'm getting my OEMs blasted to white for the winter wheels on my 2008 v50

they are ugly as hell

but what matters is that you like it.

definitely a change of pace from big tires and small wheels! We’ll see how they fare over time.

Glad to see I'm not the only one who thinks that.

Generally I tend to go with other setups but just gunna be slowly cruising around with this car 98% of the time. Figured I’d try something different with these wheels. Seems to be quite divisive lol. Got a 242 I’m working on that’ll be for more spirited activities and gunna stay away from this type of stretch for that car.

I kinda agree. Personally I am not a fan of stretched tires. To each their own. Looks clean as hell though.

I hear something similar about your mother.

Looks rad! Just as a heads up, I had Corsa wheels on a car I bought, and the right front had a massive failure, breaking almost all the way around the bolt circle in a low speed, low load left hander. I got lucky with where it broke. Not sure what centers they use on the Volvo wheels, but I don't trust their Mercedes wheels because the center they use isn't strong enough for the camber thrust loads they see on a lowered vehicle.

Thanks for the heads up! Definitely something I’ll review from time to time to check for evidence of failures.

It’s crazy though that even modern steelies are susceptible to the ā€œthey don’t make em like they use to!ā€ saying. I have multiple 80s and early 90s steels that are still in great shape. Even four from the late 70s.

I think the issue is that the Metris wheel they sued is designed for a 6" width and basically no camber. As designed they're fine. After adding two inches to the front and rolling on the inside shoulder it was beyond it's design parameters.

215/45 would would've probably been my pick. Judging by the picture, I would raise the rear just a tiny bit. I like rake and balanced "fill" of the arches.

Thanks! Yeah I have been taking the day to see if I wanted to lower the front or raise the back a bit. Got zero rubbing up front and just a tiny tiny bit on the back at the moment. If I go lower up front I’d likely need to hammer in the fender lips a bit and also continue to hammer in the rear lips - not too hard but definitely easier to just raise the coilovers lol. Also yeah I think next set may be 215/45 we will see!

dope wheels, did you have to run a spacer to clear the front caliper? What’s the offset of those?

1

u/itsniikkoo 10d ago

Thanks! They clear as far the front calipers. The coilover adjustment collars are insanely close to the inner lips of the front wheels though so yeah will probably need to look at spacers (again) here soon if I wanted to go any lower. The offset is 5 inches in the front and 4.5 inches in the back.

Still looks sick brother. Check out BNE for his spacers and extended wheel lugs, that’s what I’m running on my 15x8 et-13

I wouldn’t want to run that setup, but it does look cool.

Yeah I was initially going for something with a bit less stretch BUT here we are. I like it though

I like variety for varietys' sake

1

u/Str8Six91 13d ago

I appreciate variety, certainly— but I only like things that I like. And I can tell by the dimensions that I would not like the way that car rides or handles. But it’s not my car, and people should do what they want with their rides.

I do like painted steelies

Not a fan of stretched tires but wide steelies are hot šŸ”„
