Academic Major change to Engineering

Hello all, I'm a current student at UH and my current major is history.

I originally had applied for Industrial engineering but couldn't get in, due to not having any classes meet for the requirements.

What are the chances I get in for spring semester?

My current GPA is a 2.56 due to failing precal my first semester (retook it and got a C-, got the grade replaced).

I predict I can raise my GPA up to 2.7 - 2.8 this semester.

I've taken Cal 1 at HCC and got a b-

Took Chem 1 and got a c-

Took Intro to Engineering and got a A

Right now im taking programming for engineers, physics 1 and cal 2, ill probably get a b- in physics & b+ in programming.

Cal 2 I might drop because a C- would hurt my chances of getting into industrial engineering (due to it hurting my gpa)

I am taking a minor in manufacturing systems and i can probably get 2 letters of recommendations from professors.

What are my chances of getting in?

I need to get accepted soon to start taking my INDE courses.

Any thoughts, advice, literally anything to help my odds to get in.

ISO TI-Nspire CX ii CAS Graphing calculator

Hi. This is my first post on this thread, if it not allowed feel free to let me know of alternatives of how to get help. My boyfriend Noah is an Electrical Engineer Major at U of H Main Campus. While he is very passionate about his major and subjects/courses, expenses are getting in his way to continue. He has been telling me how he is desperately in need of one of these TI-Nspire CX 2 CAS Graphing calculators for his current enrollment Circuits Analysis class and future exams. As most may be, we are both broke college students and trying to stick it out in college with hopes and dreams that we will be able to pay back loans lol. With tuition as a feat of its own, a $200 calculator necessity to continue education I'd like to avoid defeat in. If there is an upper class student who is ready to part with their calculator it would be going to someone in need who believes in himself to push through his studies.

It sucks that monies is all that holds us back at times. Funny that we are always expected to pay one thing after the other out of pocket long past tuition just for the mandatory basics to succeed... We understand that apart of the "adult-ing" culture is to struggle but if there is a resource to make it less of a shit process, we are going to swallow our silly adult pride and use that resource. I hope others either in our generation or general situation take something from this. We don't have it all figured out but if we ask each other for help we could build a beautiful community of lifting each other up. The American Dream is less existent every day and I'm not really a fan of the "every man for themselves" mantra, soooo lets work together. Okay, I digress, my tangent is over!

All in all, we have researched alternatives like renting but CAS-enabled (Computer Algebra System) or TI-Nspire series calculators are not part of the standard free library checkout inventory on the main campus, nor at free public libraries. Renting wouldnt be an ideal solution though as he will need it for later courses. We are still in the process of scouring Facebook marketplace but I thought it may be productive to ask here too. I'd like to surprise him with a used one, and of course we would pay just hopefully at a discounted rate. Please let me know if you know anyone or if you yourself can help, or if there are solutions we havent thought of. Thank you for reading and considering. Next up will be posters littered about the campus on the hunt for this calculator.

If this post is not allowed as in "ISO" posts, please direct me where we can continue our search. Thanks

Missed CASA Slot

I was supposed to take my Exam today (Tuesday the 27th) and the testing period for CASA closes tomorrow the 28th. It was for a non university approved reason (car battery died) that I had to miss my exam. I was sure to email my professor the second I realized I couldn't make it to my exam (at like 2 am this morning). He emailed me back this morning letting me know that the only thing that I could do was wait and see if they would open more slots that evening. It's currently 11 PM the last day of testing is tomorrow and no slots have opened up and I've refreshed like every 10 minutes since 6 PM. Is there any hope for me? It's unfortunately not the case (at least not written so in the syllabus) that my final grade will replace this missed exam especially without a university approved reason. Kind of a hail marry I know but any guidance would be very appreciated from any late night scrollers.

Rant STOP SPITTING YOUR GUM OUT EVERYWHERE IT'S GROSS

It's so disgusting when I go to lift a desk in a lecture hall and dried gum comes close or even grazes my fingers. How hard is it to spit in a trash can or into a napkin if you have one? it's so nasty to leave your saliva on desks that everyone has to use- AND don't get me started on the gum everywhere on the ground in in the parking garages right where people step to get in and out their cars. I don't want to track that into my car. Especially if it's fresh gum that's still sticky. How nasty can some of y'all be. Even the newer buildings have gum everywhere. Don't y'all want a clean campus? Gum on the new white concrete. Gum on new furniture. It's not only gum. Just stop leaving trash out in general. Find a trash can and throw it away. I was so pissed one day because I stepped on a rotting banana peel outside of my car door like you couldn't throw it away??? The parking garage has trash cans at the exit. Anyways, stop being nasty pls and ty.

I think I should've reported this

I was walking to my dorm complex and this grown man (like grown grown man) was walking on the left side (my right) and he was very persistent on not moving to the other side knowing that I was walking that way. I ignore it and get of the way and he stops me to say "I can't help but notice your very pretty..." and as soon as I heard that I freaked out and said "Sorry, I'm busy." I got like really freaked out because that's not normal and I don't know (I hope he didn't) if he took pictures of me. I called my dad and told him what happened and he told me to report it to UHPD but I told him that they wouldn't do anything about it.

Any girl that has gone through the same? Or guy? Idk, I don't want to feel alone in this, guys.

Academic Orgo 2 Professor help

currently in orgo 1 with cai ( big mistake plz just take young he decided to not do extra credit this year) I was wondering if anyone had any info on these 2 professors obviously young is teaching again with the largest sections but every one that ive spoken to about her for orgo 2 has withdrew/failed or passed with an extremely low score.

Has anyone taken Robert Comito or Brad P Carrow? Im leaining towards Carrow bc of his small class size and it aligns better with my schedule but idk. Any info would be great!

I couldnt take Circuits 1 this fall as a comp engineering major. Looking for advice on my Spring schedule since I can't take Circuits 2 yet.

Hi guys, I'm a Computer Engineering major taking Calculus 3,Emath, Physics 2, and ENGI 1331 this Fall semester. Unfortunately, Circuits 1 filled up before I could enroll, so I won't be able to take it until Spring. Because of this prerequisite , I won't be able to take ECE 2202 (Circuit Analysis II) or ECE 2100 (Circuit Analysis Lab) next Spring as originally planned. Is anyone on the same boat as me, and do yall have any recommendations for what classes I should swap into my Spring schedule instead?

Admissions Tier One Scholar Essay Word Limits

For the Tier One Scholarship, how long should the supplemental essays be on the initial application (there are no word limits)?

Why do you want to attend the University of Houston? Why is UH a good fit for you?

Why did you select the major you plan to pursue, and how do you expect it to help you reach your long-term career goals?

Academic Transfer from UHD to UH

For those who transferred did UHD prepare you at all for UH? I’m currently at UHD and doing some intro courses for a major I recently switched to, they aren’t hard (which is what scares me). You definitely have to buckle down and study, but that’s mainly because some of the Professors don’t really teach. I’m worried that I might not be prepared for transferring because of that.

knack vs. launch tutoring?

Had anyone gone to either? what’s even the difference??If so, how was it? I’m also considering becoming a tutor, so if you have feedback on which one is better to be employed under that is helpful as well.
