Decided to paint model from GW store in Ultramarine colors. Wondering how you gouys like it?

I never thought painting miniatures could be this satisfying...

Hi everybody, I’m painting a miniature for a friend of mine. I’m still new to edge highlighting, this is the first project that I’ve really used it on since CSM trim usually acts as an okay highlight already. Base still needs to be done, but the model itself is in the finishing touches. Any tips or criticisms?

Does anyone know what blues are used in this video? I’m in love with the blue but I just can’t narrow down the colours. I think it’s kantor into telcis then lothern but I’m not sure

I submitted him to a local game stor for a painting competition. Took me about a day and a half to complete. I maybe regret dunking him in angrax earthshade, especially on the shoulders. I learned a lot from this though. The extra 3d printed ribbons and servo skull came from temu.

Upcoming game with my friend who is custodes player and another who is death guard. I did not specifically build this list to counter them, but for units I think would be fun and also gives me a fighting chance at a victory. However, if some of the strategies are silly or nonsensical, give me your opinion and how I can better improve this.

Hello ! I made this post to ask a question - so from my understanding, a victrix guard is a veteran of the first company choosed amongst the bests.
He is an incredible fighter doubled by an excellent tactician with a sharp political mindset when needed - and thanks to his feats he is choosed to enter the victrix GUARDS who’s role is to protect and serve as champions/bodyguard/advisors towards the high ranked they are supposed to protect.

Now i ask - if one of their many objective is to protect who they are assigned to, why did they loose their shields ?
How come bodyguards have nothing but their body to defend their chapter master in exchange for an upgraded bolter ?

If let’s say they are tasked with protecting a captain, and on the battlefield that captain is choosen as a target by a sniper that is too far to shoot down with a bolter, are they going to sacrifice themselves one by one by taking the shots for him ? This feels ridiculous to sacrifice super elite soldiers one by one to save a guy when we speak about the most tactical marines in the Imperium who also have « guards » in their name and no shield to back it up.

Game workshop didn’t even need to remove the shield if we speak tabletop wise, yes in some occasions it gives a 4++ but in others it also means +1 Wound and since they have 3… (their armor would be the 2+ save in my opinion) also their gun is held with one hand and is small, they could totally have the shield on their wrists and shoot just fine… so im just wondering why remove the shield, it was easily one of the coolest thing they had and aside from Bladeguards and Assault terminators with hammer nobody has one in what we can get.

Now they seem like elite, which they are obviously but they were elite guards not elite polyvalent and i feel like we lost something, maybe it’s just me and im making a fuss for nothing but i really miss what made them stand out as guards.

I love to paint my ultramarines with the altdorf guard blue (I prefer the old style blue than the actual maccrage blue pattern :) ) and sometimes with the caledor sky too (I love this fresh blue haha )

However, I am really pissed with the citadel pots usability and ergonomics, and I want to try other brands like Vallejo, AK etc However I have never tried another brand than citadel, so I don't know what to expect

I saw their was some equivalents like ultramarines blue in vallejo, army painter or AK, however the colour does not like exactly the same on pot pictures I saw on website or paint charts.

Does somebody manage to try the correct equivalent of altdorf and caledor blue ? Have you got some experience or photos of the finish ?

Spent idk how many hours on these guys, way too many, feels great having them finally put together. Just have to do touch ups and bases.

New player to be (hopefully soon) here. I bought an army off marketplace and looking for advice on what to prioritize painting to get to playing quick! I know the rule of cool is generally best when deciding your army composition but I dont wanna be a pushover on the tabletop either!

Hey, all.

I'm painting an Angels of Death Kill Team as Ultramarines (2nd company, 4th squad), and really want to make these guys stand out. I mean, they're an elite squad handpicked for these small infiltration missions, so I want them to really stand out from their brethren.

Besides the usual places (pauldrons, knees, power pack), what are some good places to put iconography and extra details? Pictures would be welcome, as I'm really just looking for inspiration and am having a tough time so far.
