Survey/Research (see Rules) Do you identify with a non-straight sexual orientation? Survey participants needed for UK-based mental health research 🌈

Hi everyone - I’m Georgie, a Trainee Clinical Psychologist at Royal Holloway, University of London, and I’m hoping some of you might be able to help with my doctoral research.

I’m looking at how experiences related to sexual orientation - like how you feel about your own sexual orientation, worrying about being rejected, or hiding who you are - are linked to mood, and which of these matter most. The hope is to help mental health care become more sensitive and supportive for people with a non-straight sexual orientation.

If you’reĀ 18Ā or over,Ā UK-based, andĀ identify as lesbian, gay, bisexual or queer, I’d be really grateful for ~10 minutes of your time. It’s a single anonymous questionnaire. Trans and non-binary people who also identify this way are very welcome - the study is focusing on sexual orientation specifically.

šŸ‘‰Ā https://rhulpsychology.eu.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_9phy9l5vaoURNt4

It has ethical approval from Royal Holloway’s Research Ethics Committee (ID 1047).

Thank you so much !

Discussion Where do you travel to receive healthcare for depression as a gay man?

If you live in the UK and wish to get diagnosed and treated for depression, what country would you go to? The considerations will be travel costs (you may have to visit every 3-6 months), costs of staying in the hotel, the doctor’s fees and prescription and medication costs.

I've got a friend coming to stay with me soon and they want to go to a sauna.

Just wondering if there are any trans friendly saunas in London?

And if so, what are they like and what are the best times to go?

Advice or help needed Seeking community other than Reddit?

So I'm trying to find trans-inclusive lesbian/Sapphic community.

There isn't anything irl. There are a few lesbian/Sapphic groups but they aren't exactly friendly to someone such as myself, or they aren't a good fit for other reasons (as an example, I'm 30 so a 40+ group would mean waiting ten years).

I'm trying to better connect with this side of myself as I do feel kinda detached from lesbian identity due to some bad experiences and I think community is a good way of connecting with that as well as connecting with others.

Reddit is well, Reddit.

As much as one or two subreddits are very much inclusive, it doesn't stop transphobes from showing up to mass downvote you, for instance. And in the past some threads have been subjected to horrific comments (thankfully got removed by the mods, but you still have to see them). And I won't name names ofc, but there's many lesbian-related subreddits here that are pretty hateful so it kinda just leaves this one.

Anyway. Given what I mentioned about irl circumstances, a community would need to be online. Maybe a Discord or something? If anyone has any suggestions please do let me know.

Thanks in advance :)

Advice or help needed Help & advice is needed!

Hello, I am a happily married bisexual male (29) the issue I have is I have been with my now wife for 12 years and I miss my bisexual tendencies. I’ve tried discussing it with her, she is very understanding, happy to try things at home but it’s nothing like the real deal. I am really stuck as others have suggested I just walk away from my marriage & that is never ever going to happen but also it is hard to not do what you used to enjoy. I need some advice on where to go with it. Thank you.

Bi male West Yorkshire - Chat?

So I recently admitted to two friends that I am not straight and don’t feel particularly male which was a big step for me.

I really would like to get to know people in the LGBTQ+ for friendship and chat though and have no idea where to start x

āœ… LGBTQ+ adults aged 18+ living in the UK

Thumbnail youtube.com

This short documentary investigates seven countries against a four-pillar framework built specifically for Black British gay men and lesbians: warm climate, monthly costs under £1,000, LGBTQ+ legal protections, and an established Black community. The countries assessed represent some of the most frequently cited destinations for British people retiring abroad. Each is examined against criteria that mainstream retirement guides rarely apply.

Anyone up for a Brighton day trip? 🌊

Hey! I’m 26, gay, and based in London. I’m planning a day trip to Brighton this Wednesday or Thursday and would love some company!

I’ve got an itinerary planned to explore Brighton and grab some food, and I’m flexible with either day depending on what works best.

Just looking to make a friend and enjoy the day together. 😊 Happy to connect on Instagram beforehand too!

Drop me a DM if you’re interested!

PS: I’ve started putting together an itinerary and would appreciate any tips from people who know Brighton well.

Plaid Cymru MS leaves cross-party group in culture wars row

The only Plaid member of the cross party "women and girls" group has left just days after it started.

"The withdrawal of Safa Elhassan, who represents Gŵyr Abertawe (Swansea and Gower), appears to stem from the group’s acceptance of the Supreme Court’s ruling that sex in equality legislation means biological sex only. The group will now have representatives from just three of the four main parties: Reform UK, Labour and the Conservatives."

It was really weird to be fair, to not know whether or not I was going to survive, but not able to trust our health services to treat me like a human being.

I ended up being okay after a few awful days of waiting out the side effects, but these guidlines are causing deaths, trans people in the uk are undergoing a silent genocide, so please, if you have avoided care because of these guidelines, speak up, don't let them kill us with no records to show it.

Greater London F 35 BI London Married

Hi everyone! I’m a 35-year-old bi woman living in London. I’m British with a Pakistani background, married, and my husband knows about my sexuality and is completely supportive.

I’d love to connect with other bi women, whether that’s chatting online, swapping experiences, or meeting up for a coffee if we click. I’ve found it isn’t always easy to find people who get what it’s like to be bi, especially when you’re juggling culture, family, and a marriage, so a community of people who understand would mean a lot.

I’m after genuine connections with kind, respectful people. If you’re a bi woman in London or elsewhere in the UK and fancy a chat, feel free to DM me.
