Events 2026 U.S. Midterm Voting Guide for College Students!

Hey r/uCinci!

Election Day is Tuesday, November 3, 2026! Here's what college students need to know to make a plan to vote.

Quick reminders:

  • Away at school? Make sure you know which address you're registered at.
  • Voting absentee? Check your deadline and return your ballot as soon as possible!

1. Make Sure You're Registered

Moved dorms or apartments? Double-check your registration address. Some states still allow registration or updates during early voting or on Election Day!

Turning 18 by November 3? You may be eligible to vote if you're a U.S. citizen and meet your state's other requirements.

2. Home Address or School Address?

  • Living away from home? You may be eligible to vote using either your home or college address, depending on state residency rules. You can only vote once!
  • Registered at school: Find your local polling place and check early-voting options.
  • Registered back home: You may be able to vote absentee without traveling home. If your requested ballot hasn't arrived, contact your home election office today!
  • Studying abroad? FVAP.gov has voting instructions and information about emergency backup ballots for eligible overseas voters.

3. Pick How You'll Vote

Early, in person: Early voting is already open in many states but ends before Election Day in some places. Check your dates and locations!

NASS – Early & Absentee Voting by State

By mail: USA.gov – Absentee & Mail Voting

  • Follow the instructions and sign where required.
  • Return your ballot early! USPS recommends mailing at least one week before your ballot must be received. Running short on time? Check whether official drop boxes or in-person return options are available.
  • Many states let you track your ballot online.

On Election Day: Tuesday, November 3! Polling hours vary by state, so check before you go.

4. Know Before You Go

5. Good to Know at the Polls

  • In line when polls close? Stay in line! If you're already in line, you can still vote.
  • Name not on the list? Ask a poll worker about a provisional ballot or other options in your state.
  • Need assistance? Voters with disabilities have the right to accessible voting and can request help.

6. Questions?

Contact your state or local election office, or the nonpartisan Election Protection Hotline:

  • English: 866-OUR-VOTE (866-687-8683)
  • Español: 888-VE-Y-VOTA (888-839-8682)
  • Asian languages: 888-API-VOTE (888-274-8683)
  • Arabic: 844-YALLA-US (844-925-5287)

Your vote is your voice! Make a plan, share this guide with a friend, and see you at the polls!

On Campus Question Art Student Commission Question

Is there anywhere that I can request an UC art student to make art of me and my girlfriend for Christmas? I’m a graduate student here, and I would love to commission an actual art student at UC to make something I can give as a gift instead of a shady place on Etsy or Redbubble, preferably a painting or something similar. Is there like an art club discord or something I can ask on?

Co-op Advisor Doesn’t Respond

I’ve sent my co-op advisor emails asking general questions and I haven’t heard back at all from him. I had my advisor switched this past summer as they did some rearranging. Current advisor is Willie Clark. Any tips on this? I am currently on co-op.

Groups/Clubs Anything cool you guys do besides major clubs / stuff on campus?

I’m at Lindner and most people are heavily involved in frats, business clubs, student associations, honoraries, sororities, etc. I’m in some clubs like that but they’re not like “omg this is my life and these are my people” if you know what I mean. It seems a lot of people are like that. Since my interests lean heavily outside my major it’s kinda hard to fit in places at Lindner, and it’s been like that since Freshmen year (third year now). I have some lovely friends but i’m just looking to spice it up or meet some new peeps on my way out! I’m into painting, roller skating, hiking, writing, kick-backs and live music. Anything niche you can think of in cincy?

Thinking this might get better when I start going out after I turn 21 (am too lazy and cheap to acquire a fake ID lol).

Schedule/Classes Might Be Cooked… | Calc 1 Rant/Assist Request

Alright so I just did the math, and if I want to try and pass my Calc 1 class, I need to get an 80+ on both Exam 3 AND my Final. Exam 3 is on the middle of November, whilst the Final is in December.

It’s a huge daunting task, and I can’t believe it got to this point🫩
Regardless, I think if I study RIGHT now for Exam 3, then IMMEDIATELY for the Final, I might have a chance. Needless to say, I’m shitting bricks and I really don’t want this to happen. At worst, I’ll be forced to drop the class before the deadline(if it hasn’t passed already) and take the cushioned L.

My point is that I call for the people that are either in this Calc class, good with Calc, or are struggling the most as well, like I am. My point is that it would be really cool to find a group of students who are also in this situation, and possibly get together to hopefully change the tides, or there is some studying trick that I could adopt(or let me rent some Meta Glasses for a day lmao).

I would appreciate any tips, suggestions, and possibly even tutoring(be warned, it would most likely be free since I JUST got done paying for student classes. I am extremely strapped for cash).

But yeah, to the people entering a Calc class, fucking study immediately. It’s hell🥀

Anyone else absolutley STRUGGLING through econometrics?

Absolutley devastated with this class. I'm taking it with Anthony Chance, he's a super smart guy but teaches soo fast for me. The worst part is that none of our prior courses as econ majors prepare us for what econometrics will be. The content is just so dense and tedious (and boring). I'm also a person who just does not like to code and deal with tedious data like this. And I heard that no one in industry even uses R, what is this even for.

- Sad econ student cramming for the exam tmrw.

Halloween Game

Weird question but this is my first time going to a football game on Halloween, is it normal for students to dress up in Halloween costumes, or should I just stick to wearing black for the official color theme?

Prospective Student Mid ACT score

I got a 24 on the ACT, my academics are pretty good and my extracurriculars are good too. I’m considering applying test optional, but I’m not sure because 24 is considered “in the range” of average applicants but on the very low end of that average. I need advice because apps are due November 1st and i’m just really conflicted. Thanks!

UofC Questions

I am currently narrowing down my colleges and UofC is on my list. I was curious about a few things:

the culture specifically in the engineering department?

LGBTQ friendly campus?I’m assuming since it’s cinci it would be.

How are scholarships? My parents aren’t giving me anything for college but I don’t qualify for much via FAFSA.

Are you able to get part time jobs on campus outside of Co-ops or are they more difficult to get with such a large student body?

What’s the safety like? What areas should I avoid?

I also heard that if you aren’t from Cincinnati you might not fit in as much. I live in Dayton and have been near cinci a lot but I haven’t lived in it, so would that impact me??

Anyone have a electric or acoustic drum set I could borrow

This is pretty out there, but does anyone on campus have an electric or acoustic drum set I could use for the Calhoun Halloween event next week, it would be staying at Calhoun and I would do anything I could to make you feel comfortable with how it's being taken care of. I have 10 years of background in drums and am really excited about this opportunity but have no way to get my set by next week.

Urgent Question Apartment for next year

I’m currently a freshman at the university and decided with a few friends to get an apartment for next year, we found one that is very cheap we would only be paying around $300 each and it’s pretty close to campus but a few things have me second guessing it. Like for example it’s on short vine and the company’s reviews don’t look nice. We already put down a lot of money for this and we now have our pre-leases and have to sign by next Monday any advice? ( a few things to note: if we cancel then all of that money is lost.)

Someone was suicidal today

I go to Clermont (I transition to main campus next semester) and in my history class today I repeatedly heard the person in front of me talk about killing herself under her breath, I got out of class early and reported it to the public health office and they sent a police officer over to check if she was doing alright

Everyone is telling me that I did the right thing but believe I heard her crying while walking away when the class was over. What makes it worse is that I have a pretty avoidant personality and wouldn’t know what to say to her if she tries to talk to me again on Tuesday.

I know that she’s struggling, but I can’t be the person to lift her up, what do I do?

Audrey Greene (evil or not)

I have a few classes I want to take with Audrey Greene in psychology and her RMF are horrible. Has anyone taken any of her classes and were they miserable or not. Both of the classes will be online if anyone has experience with her online.

Prospective Student Housing/dorms and overall campus experience?

Now that I’m to the point of further narrowing down my college search, I need to find out all the info I can about the colleges I applied to (as well as visit what I can). So to start, I’m curious to hear what the dorm and housing situation is like, and how campus life is. Basically everything about the college in general besides just the academic portion. I want a campus I could actually enjoy living on.

Could include details like how housing is organized, how the dorms are set up, and the different dorm types and options, and how to get into the better dorms. Etc. Maybe other details like food, class-to-class commuting, campus density (how crowded it feels)… whatever you have to say about your campus experience, and what you think an incoming student should know.

Thanks in advance

Urgent Question Just how good is Handshake's quick apply feature? Looking for help and whether or not it's worth just spamming out these applications (which seems preferable), or applying through their sites.

Peak Properties

So I’m a freshman this year looking into getting a lease for next year. Me and 5 of my guys plan on splitting all costs and found peak to be super affordable for the type of housing. We play music so having a backyard and/or a porch is something that we value heavily.

We’ve heard a lot of people say that peak has horrible maintenance response, mold issues, and overcharge their tenants after move out. Essentially take advantage of dumb college kids.

With all that being said, as a group of 6 college guys who aren’t geniuses but can fix a lump sum of minor maintenance issues ourselves, have a desire for our own yard, and want something cheap, would renting through peak still be something we should avoid at all costs?
