There is now an English translation patch available for the final Falcom game that Yoshio Kiya worked on, Falcom's first inhouse console-only game, 1994's PC Engine release of "The Legend of Xanadu" aka "Kaze no Densetsu".

It was the 8th game in Yoshio Kiya's "Dragon Slayer" series.

This has taken over a decade of development, and neither the English text, nor the large amount of additional program code, has had any AI-involvement. It's all human made.

The translated game will only run on a real, or emulated, PC Engine (aka TurboGrafx-16).

If you want something to run on a Nintendo Switch or other modern console or PC, then you'll have to wait to see what Edia comes up with next year.

I was 17 or 18 when I got this copy of R-Type. Got the ticket at Toy’s R’Us & played all night. Died a gazillion times. Prior to that I had seen it at the arcade but never played it. But I’ve been hooked on the series ever since. Also probably my favorite box cover in the series.

I used to own a tg16 in 1990 and stupid neighbor kids stole it and all my games then moved over 1000 miles away (assholes, long story). Since then I have played emulated titles on my snes mini, but it's not the same without the controller. I luckily was able to get a US tg16 mini when it was for pre-order, before they canceled it (I think that's what happened). It rocks, but there are so many good titles missing from the console. Has it been modded it at all? Last time I checked a few years back and nothing. I have my nes, snes, ps1 and Genesis minis all modded and fully loaded. Only one that isn't is thr tg16. Which sucks as it's interface is amazing.

I'm not wealthy enough to invest in a real tg16 or the collection I had, so emulation is it.
