Just finished first time watch
Phenomenal series. Perfect parts of comedy, campiness, drama, heartbreak, action, horror. I enjoyed every minute of it. Never did see it drop off in terms of quality or storytelling as some folks suggested. If anything, it just kept getting better and better.
So many great characters. Sookie was terrific but Jason Stackhouse just might now be my favorite character of all-time. (It's between him and Arya from GOT)
Special shout to Pam. She was a hoot.
Here's my new updated Top 10:
- Game of Thrones
- The Wire
- The Leftovers
- The Sopranos
- Deadwood
- Veep
- The Pitt
- Treme
- Oz
- True Blood

Jason is hilarious at physical comedy! There are so many times he accidentally does something and pulls it off brilliantly.
You're right about it being perfect parts comedy, camp, drama, horror, heartbreak, action, etc.
I love Pam too. But Lafayette is my absolute favorite! RIP

My favorite Jason line: “I used to think I wasn’t smart enough to get depressed, but here I am.” Kills me every time I hear it.

I’m watching now and he just said to Jessica I hope you’re suffering from that Stockholder syndrome. He just tickles me!

If you haven’t, though, I recommend reading the books as well. I just started the first one after being told to read them for two years after finishing the series for the first time I’ve watched it multiple times, but never gave the book series a chance. only on chapter two and its just as dark as the tv show and honestly more funny the things sookie has said already cracking me up.

I just finished as well, and I agree with most everything you said. Jason wouldn't be my choice for favourite character , but he was funny and grew as a character. I think every season was better and the writers were never afraid to lean in on the camp, they knew who they were. Our overall list is similar, 6,7,8 I haven't watched. I would replace them with Alien Earth, Rome, The Next Generation S3 on.

Just finished my first watch through also and still processing. I felt like it lost me a bit in the middle and then picked up at the end of Season 5.
Here are my thoughts:
Loved Jessica & the closeness she formed with Bill, however I found Hoyt coming back at the end a bit jarring as I felt we had been primed for a Jessica/Jason relationship and this came out of left field and felt a bit unbelievable given Hoyt had no memories of their union so to just get married after a day was a bit much - it would have been better if he had been given his memories back but had forgiven them.
Sookie - loved her BUT I think she had too many love interests. Sam, Alcide, Eric, Bill, Warlow... etc.. I wish we had seen more of her and Sam actually and think it would have been nice for her to end up with him.
JASON - by far the best character development. LOVED him.
Loved Arlene & Terry. Didn't care much for Tara but felt her death was really anti climatic.
I liked the Hep V storyline and how Bill felt more human and I thought his ending was good and true to his character but I hated the Lilith storyline and Bill becoming a GOD - that was so weird.
Overall, I am going to miss the series :)

I like your top ten. The Wire and Veep cross over with mine. I just adore the nonstop profanity and insults in Veep. It’s just so much joyful abusive rage that brings me so much joy.

His mispronounced words are the best!
