I’m currently 9mo pregnant and I just cant find anywhere that will take this stray momma cat and her 3 babies. Located in Kingsport and nowhere in Sullivan will take them, and I can’t drop them off at Washington Shelter because I’m in Sullivan. Please help, I’m at my wit’s end trying to figure out what to do with them. I can’t keep them.

Anyone else think it’s kinda crazy that there’s an entire 5+ sq mi rural holler in JC next to the middle of town?

Had to take Cash Hollow to go to the dump and this thought randomly occurred to me, I don’t think I’ve ever heard anyone talk about it either? The main road is over 2.5 miles long. I know 10 or 15 years ago someone I worked with at a delivery job at the time mentioned it was pretty bad for crime, not sure if this (was or) is the case. Always a little odd taking the drive because it feels out of place given how developed and commercialized Johnson City has become, tbf I never think about it outside of using the dump but it really does occupy a ton of land. Only Google results about it turns up a couple fatal shootings in the last 10 years and a local author who wrote a book about an abandoned mansion up the mountain.

Car recently broke into.

I had my car broken into over the weekend in the Kingsport area near the Fort Henry Walmart. The only thing they snagged was my backpack and it’s been reported too. It had all my magic the gathering decks in it and plus my game boy. If anyone has heard anything about this please let me know because I had a set of cards in there since I was in high school that I want back. Most of the other stuff I could live without but I would at least try and get that back.
It was a black and orange military style backpack with ninja turtle patches on it.
If anyone hears or sees anything please let me know.

Jobs in KPT?

Looking for a job in Kingsport. Mostly food service background.

Been unemployed for a month and ten days and I just feel like shit. Kinda desperate, to be honest.

Anything over 10 because as that might as well be minimum wage now (my rent is 600 a month so I need to at least make that and utilities/gas/groceries).

Write-in Candidates for TN House District 1

I did a quick and dirty look for a candidate I could write- in for District 1. If you don't want to vote for Jessica Means, you'll have to find a write-in or leave it blank.

I used Ballotopedia. It looks like the Independent candidate Chris Campbell, who is running for US House of Representatives, lives in Bristol. There is no chance he will win the race in which he is running, but I thought I would cast my ballot for him in TN House District 1. I cannot bear to leave it blank and I have no interest in voting for Means. Ballotpedia had his answers to their questions and he seemed all right to me.

Thinking of Moving to Johnson City, TN — Is It Possible to Live There Without Driving?

Hi everyone!
My husband and I are thinking about moving to Johnson City, Tennessee, and I wanted to ask people who live there about transportation.

I have epilepsy, so I don’t drive. I’m wondering how difficult it would be to get around Johnson City without a car, especially if I need to commute to work.
I’d love to hear from people who live there or have experience using public transportation in the area.

A few questions I have:
Is the public bus system reliable, and does it cover most areas of the city?

Is it possible to commute to work by bus, especially if you don’t live close to your workplace?

Are Uber and Lyft readily available, and are they affordable for regular use?

Are there certain neighborhoods or areas you would recommend living in if you don’t drive?

We’re really interested in moving there, but I want to be realistic about what everyday life would look like for me without being able to drive.

I’d really appreciate any honest advice, personal experiences, or recommendations. Thank you so much!

If you’re looking for a cozy little way to spend your evening message me for details!! We currently have 20-30 people going but I’d love to make that 50! Most of those in attendance are around college age (20-30)

I’d love to have you!

Before early voting ends: a blind look at the TN governor race, names and parties hidden until the end

Thumbnail namelessballot.org
40 Upvotes

A few days ago I shared a study of the Tennessee governor race, and the comments here made it a lot better. Here's the updated version: namelessballot.org

How it works: you read both nominees' positions on 56 questions with names and parties hidden, mark which answer is closer to your view, and only find out who said what at the end. It's free and private. No sign-up, no ads, no cookies, and nothing you mark leaves your device unless you send it.

What's new since last time:

  • The whole study can now be read in Spanish. Tap "ES" at the top, or share this link: namelessballot.org/?lang=es. AI models translated and checked it, and no native speaker has reviewed it yet, so corrections are welcome
  • Every fact and source is on one "All sources" page, and there's a "Report a problem" button if you spot an error
  • You rate the notes on each answer yourself, and those ratings make up an Integrity score
  • The character questions follow the Tennessee Ethics Commission's published standards for public officials
  • Results show how many questions each percentage comes from, and the study lists its own known limits
  • The voting section covers checking your ballot before you cast it, and all 13 independent candidates are named
  • Fixes for the bugs and wording problems people pointed out

There's also a "Your vote" section with official links for your polling place, early voting hours, ID rules and your sample ballot. You don't need to take the study to use it.

I'm not affiliated with any campaign or party, and I paid for it myself. I built it with help from Claude, an AI model, and the page explains how it was made and checked. r/Knoxville won't allow a new post for this update, so if you have friends or family in Knoxville or anywhere in East Tennessee, please pass it along. Early voting ends Thursday, Oct. 29.

Has anyone had any experience with Johnson city urology specifically dr hwang

I recently had and appointment there after being referred by my doctor it literally took about 6 months to get in which honestly might be a problem with someone dropping the ball on submitting the referral any way I get a call and there am told they have an opening so I go and after waiting in the lobby for 45 min and watching other people come in and get call back I remind them I’m still there which resulted in waiting in a room for an hour before being seen. then to reschedule I’m given a robocall and put into a phone tree and placed on hold for the next step. I am super not impressed. my main concern is if they can’t get their scheduling right what else are they not getting right

Ballad Health Transphobes

Hi, all! I'm currently in the waiting room of a Ballad Health facility as moral support for a friend.

The women up front are making jokes about trans and nonbinary people, with one woman especially proud that she misgendered a nonbinary person twice after being corrected.

I know this area isn't exactly known for their love of anyone who's not cis and hetero, but to hear this in a waiting room, loud and right in front of the facility entrance doors, is ridiculous.

I sent a message to Ballad, but I doubt that will do much good. Is there anyone else I can talk to about this to warn other people who may be thinking about coming here? I don't know if the news would care or anything like that, but I would like to spread to word somehow.

Thanks, all!

Her name is Kayda. Kind of small for a standard Australian Shepherd, she ran away from a petsitter Sunday night. According to Facebook groups, she was last seen in Gray near Bobby Hicks Highway. (😬) Sightings, advice, anything helps! Thank you
