Translation with an interpreting degree

I have a L3 community interpreting degree but I realised I don’t actually like interpreting that much 😂

I want to get into the translation field but apparently they also require a translation degree (£500+)

Is there a way of using both of my interpreting degree and language A-LEVEL (A*) to get into translating or use it in a different field ??

Any ideas or help is really appreciated 💞

Newbie to this domain - tools for translating an academic book using a previously translated volume?

My father is translating a two-volume academic work from German into Polish. He’s finished Volume I and wants to use it to maintain terminology and style in Volume II.

We’re looking for a workflow that combines his approved translations, a glossary, and ideally LLM suggestions in a passage-by-passage editor. Input is in PDF and DOCX, output to be in DOCX, with existing footnotes preserved and the ability to add new ones.

He’s comfortable using LLM tools to copy-paste, but his translation and editing workflow has always been in Word—no CAT-tool experience.

I’m technically well-versed and can handle setup, self-hosting, or integrations. Local/open-source options would be a plus.
