A PSA for those coming into this subreddit

A couple of things for people.

Firstly, this server and the latter mentioned Discord are not for those who like to fetishize trans people, this is a sub for asking questions to do with trans related things in NZ. Please do not take it personally when your comments and posts are removed. If there are ever comments or posts that you feel the need to bring to our attention, please do hit the report button, and we will get to it as soon as we can.

Secondly, for those who are living in New Zealand, or will be in the near future, we have a Discord Server. It is PG13, and the mods vet your history to make sure you will fit in (you just need to fit the requirements, over 13, gender diverse, living in NZ or about to, and aren't going to cause issues by fetishizing trans people). Just DM u/OnBrokenWingsIsoar and I will reply with a link when I get to it! If you are already in the server, please do not give links out - this is for safety reasons!

Modmail presently doesn't always work on mobile and as I am generally on mobile it is often faster to DM me directly.

Lastly thank you for making this place a space where we can discuss kiwi related trans things. We appreciate you.

Has anyone had a similar experience, where the loudest advocates for your transition are the first to ditch when life gets tough 🤣.

Just was interested in hearing about others stories.

I guess out with the old and in the new.

Enrol to vote by Sunday 25 October 2026

Vote NZ

2026 General Election - Vote NZ

To vote in the general election, you need to be enrolled.

For the 2026 election, you need to be enrolled by midnight, Sunday 25 October. You won't be able to enrol once voting starts in New Zealand.

Enrolling isn’t something you do once. You need to keep your enrolment up to date so you’re ready to vote.

The Electoral Amendment Act 2025 changed the law to prevent enrolment once voting starts (Monday 26 October for the 2026 general election). Before the law was changed, voters could enrol up to and on voting day. Because of this law change, anyone who is not enrolled by midnight Sunday 25 October will not be able to vote in the 2026 general election.

2026 New Zealand general election - Wikipedia

The law change was supported by the governing National, ACT and New Zealand First parties but was opposed by the opposition Labour, Green parties, and Te Pāti Māori, who described it as amounting to voter suppression and discriminatory against younger and ethnic minority voters.

PSA for DIYers re: HeraHRT - delete if not allowed

Just thought I'd share this here for anyone currently taking DIY Estradiol Enanthate from HeraHRT, in the interest of public safety and harm reduction.

They've had a batch fail testing - no contamination, but it's only half the concentration (20mg/ml vials instead of 40mg/ml).

No difference in terms of safety concerns, but if you're using an affected vial, you're only getting half the weekly dose of Enanthate you think you're getting.

May production batch affected but it appears they were still shipping out vials from this batch as late as mid-September.

See links below for further info if you think you're affected.

Discussion Social/support groups for 'inbetween' aged people?

Hey, so I don't really know any other trans people IRL and am keen to connect with some peers.

However, I'm 29, so too old for a youth group, and too young for a 35+ group.

I was wondering if anyone knows of any social or support groups that are good for people around the ages of 28-34?

I'm personally Auckland based and tans fem, but feel free to drop any links in the comments in case anyone else is in the same boat as I am.

Discussion Can localised T gel be used to support sexual function MtF transition?

Have heard that overseas testosterone gel can sometimes be prevent equipment from atrophying - applied locally to boost levels where it's needed and not too much elsewhere.

Has anyone heard of this being possible to access for transfeminine people? I can't say that I'm hopeful considering how hard it was to even get Viagra prescribed.

Any input appreciated thank you

Good Queer friendly hairdressers in CHCH?

I had an amazing hairdresser before I moved. Haven't had my haircut in about 8momths now as I don't know where to go. I just want to get safe.

Would really appreciate recommendations - particular if you have someone who is used to doing GNC/Genderfluid/Queer styles

Thank you!

Discussion Progesterone

Hey whanau,

I recently asked my GP about starting progesterone they are normally really helpful but they just bluntly refused to prescribe it. They said that it’s associated with all of the negative effects of female hormone cycles and only present unnecessary risk. Any else experience this or have any advice as to how I might talk to them about this, thanks in advance.

i recently got my hair dyed from a friend and it’s given me such a random burst of confidence and once i put this outfit on i was in utter shock at how good i looked.

i even cried a little bit because i was so happy to finally feel good about myself; considering im still pre-hrt this is such a huge milestone for me……but this also makes me want more clothes to which i don’t have the money for😭😭

i look like a proper girl😭😭finally, i look so cute!🥺
