I know another trans woman who was a diver. She competed, pre-transition. Would you like me to connect you?
Ultimately, there's a lot you can do. Keep in mind the earlier you speak out, the better your long term health. Self-inflicted conversion therapy has severe consequences. Generally sports aren't worth that.
Do something affirming tonight. Put some clothes on, do your nails, practice a piece of makeup. Dont let the small chance of a bad thing stop you. Nobody is automatically good at baking bread or makeup. Theres a learning curve and thats okay. That stuff can all be removed later.
Do voice training. Gender affirming workouts are my choice method for dealing with dysphoria; every time I am dysphoric, I work out. Spend time with friends, pet the kitty, do some chores. Study or do your homework, job hunt. Learn about the effects of HRT on the Gender Dysphoria Bible. Get your blood tested! Go thrifting and try a bunch of stuff. Make queer friends! Go to queer hobby groups like queer board games, rock climbing, crafting or activism. We live everywhere, every culture, country and time in history.
You're going to be okay. It won't be like this forever.
Thank you a lot for this! Its sometimes hard to take things one small step at a time and this is a good reminder of that. I dont think that this is damaging my health enough to quit the sport, but it is good to recognize priorities. I also sometimes forget that transitioning doesn't HAVE to be at the forefront of my brain (even though it ends up there a lot) and that I can just be a normal girl* with normal hobbies.
Keep in mind also that these sports generally don't last long into adulthood. My friend is now a coach, but her gender identity wasn't compatible with competition either. Then again, neither is age or ability. Most Olympic athletes aren't over 30. Take care of yourself.
