Dr Peter Mankowski?

Howdy folks,

I was wondering if anybody would be able to give me some reviews about Dr. Mankowski at Art & Fact in YYC. I was referred to him about 2.5-3 years ago and should be getting into my consult appointment sometime in the early summer of next year.

Anybody who’s gotten top surgery with him, how was your consultation? Your surgery experience? Your results? Any and all information would be very helpful!

Thanks in advance!

Advice Jeans for trans men

I’m being a rodeo clown for Halloween and I want jeans that are flattering that I can wear with my cowboy boots. I’m 5’5 so it’s hard to find jeans like that that look good on me cause I have thicker thighs too

Any recommendations for jeans I can find at like any mall that would be good??

Calgary Transportation from surgery

I’m getting breast augmentation surgery on Nov 25 in Calgary. My partner is not sure yet if he can be with me or let alone pick me up from the hospital so I’m looking for alternatives just in case. Does anyone know if there’s a service in the city that can pick me up from surgery? This is my first surgery so I’m a bit nervous especially since i don’t have a backup yet in the case that my partner is unable to.

Calgary Thinking of moving to Calgary

What is it like in Calgary? Is there a large queer community? Are people generally accepting? Is it hard to get gender affirming care? How long are the waiting lists to get a family doctor? Is there another way I can get my meds prescribed?

Not queer focused but do you like living there? Is public transit good? Is it walkable? Are rent prices reasonable? Any advice or information would be appreciated.

Question GP's Lab Req Form

I'm wondering if anyone knows if this is a problem I have to sort ahead of time or not

On Tuesday I had an appointment with my GP. Not my HRT doctor. With some non-gender related prescriptions he wants some testing done. Cool, that's fine and standard with this medication (and also from a GP)

Problem: it both misgenders and deadnames me. I didn't really look at it on Tuesday. Yes, I have legally changed both, yes that should be on file, yes that's updated with AHS already.

I'm wondering if anyone knows if this would be an issue with getting the testing done or with the results, or if this is an issue I need to sort out first?

I will sort it either way—it's not my legal name—it's more of an order of priority question.

Edmonton How much are you paying for E injections in Edmonton and what pharmacy do you go to?

I just got my first vial of Estradiol Valerate. 5 ml of 10mg/ml Filled by Clareview drug mart but it looks like it was compounded by Lemarchand Dispensary. It cost $150 without insurance and I think it should last me 10 weeks at 0.5ml per week which works out to $60 per month. Do any of you here get it cheaper than that from anywhere in Edmonton, or delivery from elsewhere? Also does anyone have experience with Lemarchand? my vial says to store in the freezer but that contradicts most of what I've read online and it seems to be crystalizing a bit.

Question Looking for a Hair Stylist in Edmonton

Hi everyone!

I’m looking for a recommendation for a hair stylist in Edmonton for my girlfriend and my self. We’re both new in town and we are late bloomers who haven’t really had much in the way of feminine haircuts yet.

Bonus points if they might be willing to trade haircuts for electrolysis, as we’re both electrology students.

Question GRS Montreal - reason to be excited or nah ?

I got to the file waiting assessment phase about a month ago and they sent me the documents that explain the difference between depth and no depth, and the 9-12 month letter.

Those just got approved does that mean anything or am I crazy ? Like does that just happen and it’s still like months away or am I about to get the file assessed ? 🤷🏻‍♀️

Hello. I am looking to get my daughter her first gender affirming haircut with someone with experience and, of course, without judgement.

Looking for recommendations and approximate cost.

Thank you!

Edmonton Does anyone have any FFS experiences from Dr Emilie Robertson?

I was referred to her clinic when talking with a doctor at the gender program for facial femininization surgery however I can't find any photos of her work. Online I can only find top surgery results and posts and that's about it. Does anyone have any experiences going through FFS with her?

Edmonton HRT doctors in YEG that are *currently* accepting patients?

I already have my own HRT doctor but he's not taking new patients. However, my girlfriend would love to start HRT this year and her PCP has repeatedly brushed off any interest in HRT, antidepressants, etc.

I'm not due for an appointment with my doc for at least 3+ months so it'll be a while before I can ask him for recommendations personally, so I thought I'd come here.

Trans-safe registry agent?

Edit to add: I’m in Edmonton

Hey y’all! I need to go to a registry to fix some of our government’s transphobic BS regarding access to my health care records (be advised, if you change the gender on your driver’s license they will deny you access to your health care records online until you go back to a registry to file additional forms, but the registry that I changed my gender marker at didn’t bother to tell me this)

Anyway, does anyone have a recommendation for a trans-safe registry agent? I don’t want to get only the bare minimum service again and be left with some other paperwork snafu

Edmonton Medical consultations for HRT

My family has a history with prostate cancer, which my internet research suggests could be an issue with feminizing HRT.

While im pleased as punch we live in an informed consent jurisdiction for accessing this kind of treatment, I feel like I really want to have a …actual doctor and an actual consultation? Figure out the right options that work for me and my transition?

It kind of feels like we don’t have this in Alberta? (Edmonton)

How to get started ….
