Rulantica solo?

I've booked myself a solo trip to Europa-Park for a couple of days in November as a treat for getting promoted at work. I have been to the park before, but this time I'll be at it solo! I'm there for 2 full days, and it occurred to me that I could also tick off Rulantica one evening while I'm there. I find it's pretty commonplace for people to do theme parks solo, but what about Rulantica?

Are there any slides I wouldn't be able to do? I know they have a few multi-person flumes that I assume I wouldn't be able to do alone, would they put me in with another group? I have heard of some water parks refusing to do this (I suppose it's one thing sitting next to a stranger on a roller coaster, but it's another thing being squished up with a stranger while you're in your bathing suits!)

Any other advice for my first solo Europa-Park trip would also be greatly appreciated! (Although I'm anticipating most of my time will be spent repeatedly going through the Voltron single rider line!)

Which European theme park to visit in December?

I have a long weekend off in mid-late December and want to book a theme park trip after just getting back from Europa Park a couple weeks ago. Which is best to do this time of year? I am considering energylandia, efteling and portaventura. Any others that would be worth looking at? Which would you recommend and why? (I've done phantasialand and plopsa de panne)

Video Game theme park attractions

Hey, I'm currently writing a video essay going through the history of Video Game tie in attractions at theme parks. If anyone has any knowledge of more obscure attractions/experiences (doesn't matter how big or small), it would be super helpful to hear as I wanna cover all bases!

I'm aware of the main ones that are listed on the Wikipedia article, which I'm using as my starting base. If anyone has any anecdotes about their experiences or facts about those attractions, please let me know, it would be invaluable information! Additionally, I'm looking for attractions that aren't on that list that are in any way tied into a video game franchise, doesn't matter how obscure.

Coaster rankings!!

Hi I am new to the coaster community I only started getting into the community at the end of the summer and I have just made my first coaster ranking. I have been to the two universal parks in Florida as of 2022, I have been to Disney but I was like 6 so it does not count, I have been to cedar point but I had a very short day as well as steel vengeance was down, and my home park is Kings Island. I know the ranking is probably not the best but it. Mine and discussion or debate ( if civil is encouraged). Soon I will go to six flags feisty Texas as well as bush gardens Tampa where do you think soon of those rides will land.

**Rankings**

What if Mafia Land (Owned by Airrack) became a theme/thrill park?

Post image
3 Upvotes

I've been thinking about this idea for a while, and I wanted to see what other people think about it.

What if Mafia Land, Airrack's property in California, could eventually become a small thrill park with around 5 roller coasters? I know that sounds crazy, but hear me out.

Instead of building a massive theme park that takes up hundreds of acres, the idea would be to make the most out of the space available. The coasters could have really creative layouts, with tracks crossing over and under each other, vertical elements, and maybe even underground sections if those were possible. Basically, a compact park that focuses on fitting as much as possible into a relatively small area.

Pacific Park in Santa Monica is kind of an example of what I mean in terms of fitting attractions into a small space, although Mafia Land would obviously be very different.

One thing I wouldn't want to change is the fact that Mafia Land is meant to be free to visit. I've heard Airrack talk about people being able to visit for free, so what if that could stay the same?

People could still enter for free, walk around, take pictures, and see the existing structures. But if they wanted to ride the roller coasters, they could buy a wristband for unlimited rides or pay for individual rides. That way, people who just want to explore Mafia Land wouldn't have to pay, while the rides could bring in money to help operate the park.

I'd also want to keep the building aspect of Mafia Land alive. From what I've seen, it doesn't seem like a huge amount of new stuff has been built there over the years. Maybe there could be a designated area where people could bring materials and build their own creations, as long as they followed the necessary rules. I'd also want to preserve existing structures where possible, with permission from whoever owns or built them.

Obviously, there are a LOT of things that would need to be figured out. We'd need to know the actual property boundaries, whether the land could legally support a theme park, how much everything would cost, where parking and utilities would go, and whether five coasters could realistically fit. We'd also need the proper permits and permission to use any land or structures we didn't own.

I'm not pretending this would be easy or that it could happen anytime soon.

I actually emailed Zack at the business email listed for Airrack recently to ask whether there's someone I could talk to about the idea. I haven't received a response yet, and I haven't gotten permission from Airrack or anyone else. This is just a concept I'm developing, not an official project.

If people genuinely liked the idea and thought it was worth exploring, I'd want to keep working on it and see if there's a realistic way to make it happen. If anyone knows an appropriate public business contact for Airrack's team or someone who handles property development, that could also be helpful.

I'm curious what you guys think. Could something like this actually work, or would trying to fit a thrill park into Mafia Land be too ambitious?

Universal UK confirms 6 zones + teen/family demographic + rolling expansion strategy at Bedford business event; Core Lagoon basin already self-filling and visible from the air

Ex Universal Orlando ops, been tracking the UK build weekly since ground breaking earlier this year. Big public communications week from Universal, and the most direct confirmations yet about what the park is actually going to be. Also a striking visual moment from the drone footage.

BedEx event, four significant confirmations

Universal reps spoke at a Bedford business event this week. Four things worth pulling out.

First, Universal leadership said on record that the Bedford site is moving faster than any project they have ever done. For a company that built Beijing, Osaka and Epic Universe, that is a strong line.

Second, demographic target explicitly confirmed as teen and family. The Universal Kids Resort Frisco style rumours are now dead. This is a full gate.

Third, the park launches with six distinct themed zones, each designed for the entire family. High thrill rides, family dark rides, quiet spaces and play areas in every single land. That is Orlando’s flagship design philosophy applied cleanly, not the Islands of Adventure thrill weighted lands model. Epic Universe landed hard with family groups for exactly this reason.

Fourth, Universal confirmed that at opening in 2031, they will already be one to two years into constructing the park’s first major expansions. Drone footage and grading maps back this up. Three to four large expansion pads are already levelled and fenced on the master site. The two biggest pads sit directly behind the areas widely rumoured to be Hogsmeade and Jurassic World. This is the Epic Universe rolling expansion playbook, and Universal have stopped being coy about it.

The lagoon basin is now self-filling

The deep elevation for the central Show Lagoon has already been carved out. Local clay is impermeable, so the basin is naturally filling with rainwater from the October rains. The centre of the future theme park is now visible from the air as standing water. First time the master layout has drawn itself on the landscape. Striking in the drone footage.

Trademark watch

Fresh Universal trademark filings flagged this week, including The Shire. Unconfirmed whether this filing is specifically for the UK park, but it slots neatly into the fantasy IP acquisition strategy running across the global portfolio. File under speculative for now.

Elsewhere on site

October rain has paused heavy articulated dumper movements across the Core Zone. Second phase of the Tier 1 contractor command village is being poured on fresh concrete alongside the ongoing demolition of the historic brickworks slab. Only three archaeological grids remain active out of the entire 500 acre site, two still hunting for Bronze Age and Roman fragments.

Six zones built for whole family demographics, Epic Universe rolling expansion cadence confirmed, and the layout now literally visible from the sky. Curious what people make of the two biggest expansion pads sitting ready behind the rumoured Hogsmeade and Jurassic World areas.

Phantasialand Charles Lindenbergh hotel

Hi all, I've bit the bullet and I'm finally getting to Phantasialand between Christmas and the new year. It'll be me and my wife going for my 40th birthday and I wanted to stay in Charles Lindenbergh as it looked really cool, but I'm now hearing some mixed views on it. We're staying 3 nights but the package seemed pretty good with the dinner and theme park tickets. Id imagine we will spend most of our time outside of the room.

If you've stayed, what good/bad points did you find?

Kill [Barnstormer] with fire.

I rode barnstormer on a 100 degree day, at about 4 pm. The wait was 10 mins, so I decided to do it before my next fast pass reservation. It was absolutely awful. First of all, this seats are this weird ridged plastic that was awful. And the rattle. My home park is SFGAM, so I am no stranger to rough coasters. (Viper, American Eagle, Demon). They can’t hold a candle to barnstorme. The lap bars on barnstormer are like on phoenix, where you have ~3 inches of space. So you are jumping up and down and into that awful ridged plasti. This is easily the least themed coaster in the park, also. Kill it with fire. I hated it. NOT A TROLL POST

Rude staff Europa-Park

A spectacular park, but a humiliating experience for guests with larger body proportions

Europa-Park has impressive rides and beautifully designed themed areas. Unfortunately, our family’s experience also exposed a deeply unpleasant issue: the way guests with larger thighs and/or body proportions are treated when they cannot ride certain attractions.

We understand that safety must come first. If a restraint cannot close and function correctly, a guest must not be allowed to ride. That is not what we are criticising.

Our concern is how people are treated when they are refused access to a ride.

During our visit, several members of our family were repeatedly addressed in an extremely rude and commanding manner. The words we heard were: “Du und du RAUS!!!!” (“You and you, OUT!!!!”). There was no proper explanation or respectful communication, just a harsh order to leave in front of other guests.

A safety restriction does not justify humiliating someone in public. Safety and respect are not mutually exclusive.

We also found accounts from other visitors describing similar experiences, including a Reddit post about ride operators treating a larger guest rudely after he was unable to fit on Silver Star. Other reviews raise concerns about staff communication and a lack of helpful explanations.

Europa-Park publishes information about restraint limitations and provides test seats. These are useful measures, but they do not address the need for respectful treatment or eliminate the uncertainty guests may face after waiting in line.

We ask Europa-Park management to train ride operators to communicate refusals respectfully and discreetly, improve advance information about ride accessibility, investigate recurring complaints, and explain what steps will be taken to prevent similar incidents.

Not fitting a safety restraint should never mean losing your dignity. We hope Europa-Park takes this feedback seriously and demonstrates that safety, inclusion and respectful customer service can go hand in hand.

Loved following this ride and was always a bucket list one for me. Super sad to see it go :(

I’ve found it interesting that from that back in the day there had not really been much tech innovation till now rides like fast and furious and the new bakunawa. Keen to hear you guys’ thoughts! Can’t wait to ride them.

Dinosauri scomparsi

Venduti? Dismessi?

Qualcuno sa se sono stati portati in qualche altro parco ? O che fine gli abbiano fatto fare?

AI Theme Park

I just had an epiphany last night. What do you guys think about a theme park almost completely serviced by AI. It's a world where everything is AI assisted. When you enter the theme park you will navigate via an AI assistant you download on your device. Travelling distances on AI controled vehicles. All rides will be AI controlled, human monitored. The rides would not be your typical carnival rides, more scifi theme like the Transport Tubes from Futurama, levitating vehicles, a room with wireless power. Robots cooking food and serving guest in restaurants. A garden with robotic animals and insects. A space full of the highest technology in robotics and prosthetics. A space with all the lastest AI robotic companion technologies. The entire park will be AR assisted and the visitors will be provided with AR eyeware upon entering. By the end of the day, your AI Assistant will be able to better navigate your next visit based on the choices you made previously. The possibilities are endless.

Solo traveler, late 30s, one or two park days in Orlando early December

I have a work trip to Orlando and might extend my stay by a day or two. I’ll most likely be solo, which I don’t mind (and might help with Single Rider lines, is that still a thing?).

I’m a big Nintendo and Star Wars fan and haven’t been to a theme park in over 15 years. I like rides in general, and I’m fine with speed, but free falls are a hard no and spinning or simulator-style rides tend to make me motion sick.

A few details:

  • I’m staying at a Disney Springs area hotel that gets 30-minute early entry to the Disney parks, plus a shuttle to them. No shuttle to Universal and no rental car, so Universal would be a rideshare.
  • I’m coming back next year with my wife and our girls (they’ll be 2 and 4), so I’d rather spend this trip on things that won’t work as well with toddlers.

What should I prioritize and what should I avoid?

Thanks in advance for your wisdom!

A couple of weeks ago I asked what features you felt were missing from park tycoons. I built a rough prototype with the ideas!

Hi everyone! A couple of weeks ago I posted here asking about the "holy grail" features you’ve always wanted to see in theme park management games. The response and ideas in the comments were amazing! Based on a lot of the discussion. Specially around deeper logistics, backstage management, and realistic systems.

Since this sub gave me so much inspiration, I wanted to share this early version back with you all.

Thanks again for all the great discussions on the last thread!

Energylandia Halloween

Hi, has anyone been to Energylandia during their halloween promotion that if you get dressed up for halloween you can get cheaper tickets? On the site it says that it has to be a FULL costume and I was wondering how strict they are with what counts and what doesn’t.

[Six Flags/Cedar Fair] B&M Hypers opening back up?

According to Six Flags' website, the only hypers still listed as Temporarily Closed are the 2 at Canada's Wonderland, Behemoth and Leviathan. Could that mean the other parks opening them back up this weekend? Let the speculation begin...

what are westgate vacation villas reviews leaving out about park hopper traffic on 192?

doing a split park trip across central florida later this season hitting both universal and disney over four days, and we are trying to find an off-property base where four adults can crash without cramming into basic double queen rooms.

westgate vacation villas resort popped up with low rates on booking sites for a two-bedroom villa with full living space and a kitchen. when looking through westgate vacation villas reviews though, pretty much every post is either people yelling about timeshare tour salespeople at check-in or owners complaining about association dues.

tbh we want to book a good hotel for cash, make our own breakfasts, and get out the door fast without sitting in dead-stop traffic between parks. um so for people who stayed here on a regular booking and drove their own car to the parking garages every day, does cutting through west irlo bronson and sherberth add a massive traffic headache during park opening, or is it actually a practical hub for jumping between both resorts?

Searching for possibly lost media

In 2013, Drayton manor, a UK theme park there was a 15 minute musical experience called a fish story. I can't seem to find much about it online other than the fish's name was Deepo. I have been haunted by it in the back of my mind for years. Please if anyone knows anything more about it or even has footage of it that would be appreciated.
