Announcement Community Notice Board | February & March 2026 | EP21: Royalty & Legacy | Rules, Updates, & Guidelines

Sul Sul!

Welcome to r/TheSims, the #1 subreddit for The Sims franchise and community. we've created this notice board to serve as a central hub for announcements, updates, useful links, information, and more! We will no longer be creating monthly newsletters and we will be using the Notice Board concept moving forward.

The Notice Board will be updated regularly, so please check it often in accordance with Rule 1: Consult the Community Highlights Before Posting. When the Notice Board becomes too old, or significant announcements must be made, we will replace it with a new post.

Please be sure to consult our Rules & Guidelines, as some rules were recently updated or changed, so make sure you're familiar with them. As a member of this community, it is your responsibility to regularly review the rules and guidelines and ensure your communications are aligned.

As always, if you have any questions or concerns, Message the Mods!

Discord

Consider joining us on Discord. We have countless active discussions with over 4,000 members. It's also one of the easiest places to find tech support and help with The Sims.

We've also provided the link to the official Sims Discord server, if you'd want to join that one, too.

FYI

  • Sometimes, posts go into a queue to be manually reviewed. If you do not see your post immediately after submitting it, this is why. Please read the automated message you receive and please DO NOT message the mods asking where your post is. We will not be responding to these messages.
  • Sometimes posts are automatically removed incorrectly. The AutoModerator is not and never will be perfect. We manually review anything that has been automatically removed. Please DO NOT message the mods asking why your post was removed erroneously. We will get to it in the queue when we are able to.
  • Lastly, the rules are posted in the same place as every other community on Reddit. Per Reddit guidelines, it is your responsibility to read the community's rules before engaging. "I didn't know," is not valid in a court of law and is not valid here. The rules are written clearly and concisely. If, for some reason, something is still not understood, use the Message the Mods feature and ask before posting.

The Sims News & Updates

  • The Sims 4: Royalty & Legacy expansion pack was released on February 12, 2026.
  • The Sims 4: Silver Screen Style and The Sims 4: Tea Time Solarium kits were released on February 12, 2026.
  • The Lost Legacies event begins on February 3, 2026 and will run until March 15, 2026.
  • There has been a recent update and mods have broken. UPDATE YOUR MODS. Please do not submit posts about broken UI, etc. This happens with EVERY update and you should know this by now. You are responsible for managing your own mods folder.
  • Posts asking "which mod is causing this?" or "what mods are broken?" will be removed and temporary bans will be issued.

Megathreads

  • We are re-introducing megathreads to r/TheSims after numerous requests and feedback provided in the previous Community Survey. Megathreads will be used to consolidate discussion on a specific hot topic to ONE central place to avoid cluttering up the entirety of r/TheSims.
  • Any posts that are made outside of the respective megathread will be removed and the OP will be redirected to the appropriate megathread.
  • If we observe continuous behavior of ignoring the assigned megathreads, temporary bans will be issued.

The Meta Flair

  • We have added a new post flair called 'Meta.' You may use this flair for any Sims-related content that doesn't necessarily fit the criteria of the other flairs. This includes, but is not limited to: clothing, tattoos, gameplay videos, real-world references to The Sims franchise, etc.

r/TheSims Stance on Piracy

  • We have updated our No Piracy rule after internal discussion; instead of outright permanent bans, we will be issuing temporary bans for initial offenses. Permanent bans will be issued for repeat offenders or people blatantly circumventing the rule. Moderators will use their best judgement. There will be no warnings issued for violations of this rule. The rule itself remains unchanged: the discussion of the topic is prohibited and sharing/requesting information on how to find and use pirated content (including website names, links, etc.), is prohibited.
  • "Abandonware" is included in this rule. Base game conversions are also included in this rule. Patreon custom content/mods and/or custom content/mods locked behind paywalls are NOT included in this rule; knock yourselves out.
  • Piracy is both illegal and against Reddit's policies, therefore we will follow these regulations to the letter. We are not paid nor sponsored by EA and to be honest, we couldn't care less if you pirate the game(s); just have the good sense not to announce it at every opportunity. There is no prize nor reward for doing it and no one cares, so keep it to yourself.

Buyer's Guide

  • r/TheSims sees the same posts every day asking, "What pack should I get?", "Should I get X or X?", "What kind of computer do I need?", etc. These recommendations can vary depending on what you're planning to do in your game and in reality, it all comes down to what YOU like opposed to what others think you should get. As such, we've created a comprehensive guide that will allow you to make informed decisions based on your gameplay interests, Build Mode and CAS styles, and new features with each pack. We've also put together a recommended hardware specs guide for those inquiring about computers and laptops.

Please note that this will be updated as new packs are released and as such, any and all posts asking "What to Buy" questions will be automatically removed and the OP will be redirected here.

Sims 4 I forgot how to enjoy playing.

Lately, every time I open the game, i’m stumped on what to do. Everything feels forced, robotic, uneventful… I can vividly remember having fun gameplay in the past, but now it seems all I do lately is play dress up in CAS, build houses that take 3 days, and i upd4te/delete things constantly. I used to be so in love with this game! The challenges don’t scratch this itch and even mods don’t bring back the spark :/ Any advice?

Why are suddenly so many of my sims wearing these beanies? I don’t know if this is cc, because I haven’t seen them before nor downloaded them. And they also don’t show up in CAS. Does anyone know what this is?

I usually stay away from Malcolm Landgraab in my saves but this time, I decided I was doing an opposites attract thing and now they're married as teenagers. Nancy divorced Geoffrey at the wedding reception and this man was having a whole affair with a woman who was married too!

Build Trying to figure this build out, looking for tips

Thumbnail

I've been trying to build a dispensary, I made a little deck outside to get into it and at first I did it with the platform tool, but with that tool it said the door didn't align with the wall. So I switched to the actual deck tool (didn't see it at first) and used that. Which went fine as you can see. But now I'm trying to figure out how sims are going to even be able to walk through? I tried a platform but it's messing with the door, I tried a deck on the inside and it's also... messing with the door. So I'm just wondering on how builds like this work? I wanted another raised platform for them to walk into, and I wanted to place stairs on the side. I'm just not sure how to do that so any tips would be verrrryyyy helpful. I've been scratching my head for 30 mins

Build Would you be interested in this community lot on the gallery?

This is a community lot I’m working on. The lore is that it was one of the great gilded age mansions in San Myshuno long before the skyscrapers came. All of the other mansions have been demolished to make way for the towers. This is the last mansion from that era and privately owned by my legacy family. One of the generations have donated it to the city and it is now used as a public venue. It is mainly used as an arts center, but also as a wedding venue or for private events. There is a hedge maze in the front, a huge swimming pool and fountain, an area for a wedding, a resturaunt that can be used for reception and a nightclub. There is an area for a more intimate private dinner for celebrations. On the second floor there is a private apartment for the legacy family to use when they want to visit. It can also be used as a honeymoon suite for the newlyweds after the wedding. There is also a classic art gallery on the second floor. I tried to blend it into the surroundings to make it seem like one big grand lot.

CAS I made the same sim in The Sims 4 and The Sims 3

I've seen this challenge around many times, but I've never been satisfied with the results most people achieved, so I decided to try it on my own. To be honest, I cheated a bit because I used CC in Sims 3, when in The Sims 4 I used only the vanilla game, but it's fine, you know. I once saw a YouTuber do this challenge and she loaded her Sims 4 Sim up with CC, and then when she went to do the Sims 3 one, she complained that Sims 3 doesn't have much hair variety, WHEN THE HAIR SHE LITERALLY USED IN SIMS 4 WAS CC! Anyway, my goal in doing this challenge was to prove that the Sims 3 engine is much more moldable than many people think; you just need the skill, the CC, and the necessary patience to get sims that don't look like potato faces. What do you guys think?

Sims 4 How do you use SFW WW animatons

So, I am trying to make those cool cinematic sims 4 videos and I have genuinely no idea how to make it to where they do the vanilla animations </3. I need someone to explain it to me like I'm stupid so I can understand better because all of the tutorials are confusing me if I'm being honest, uh thank you in advance!

Mods and CC Upcoming mod: Open Neighborhood by Sergueï - The Sims mods. We were robbed for 12years.

This is a upcoming mod by Sergueï. He goes by @Frooot_simmer on Twitter and check his YouTube page as well. You should check out his page. He's been looking for some buzz because his work is just incredible. He's been digging those the spaghetti code of The Sims 4 and found a way to open the neighborhood. He also find a way to implement drivable cars that function on the ROADWAY. We were robbed of this for 12 years!! When it was in the code but I told this sub already that a dev who worked on Sims Free To play saw that open neighborhood worked just fine on the demonstration prior to the release.

I did made a post about open neighborhood being a feature that was held back but is showcase in the Sims 4 Play for Free advertisment:

https://www.reddit.com/r/LifeSimulators/s/UmXIIyqVYr

Sims 5, Project X,/Evergreen who !? EA just purposefully held back this feature so they can sell yet a new edition of the sims. 2026 have been such a year for the Sims 🤯

Recommendation the sims get boring without packs, what can I do?

I love playing the sims, but it gets so boring after a bit since I don't have any packs there is not much to do and I find myself just making my sim watch tv all the time.

the only packs I have are parenthood wedding stories and growing together. I'm broke so I can't buy any more packs unless I got a huge sum of money. so I'm looking for some recommendations on what I can do.

Discussion Is it better to keep families as unplayed or under the 'other sims' option?

I'm not sure if the title explains it well, but I'm thinking of turning my save into a forever save to alternate between families as I play and build new lots, but I'm not sure which one of those would be the best option for the households I'm not currently focusing on. Do both of them lets you see your own sims around the maps too, like the premade townies?

I also have neighborhood stories and aging off for now
