Finally asleep :(

My boy Blizzard has gone down for brumation and I am so sad. I rescued him in March and I’m not used to not playing with him and not having him roam around the house 😭 i miss him so much!

OMG, do not give me a heart attack like that! I thought it was more permanent than just brumation. He's such a handsome boy.

Sammmeee. For what it is worth, he will show up occasionally and be like 'Hey, I want food and cuddles and to bask for like a day then I'm disappearing again. BYEEEE.'

My understanding is he’s just a red but i got him from someone who found him abandoned in a basement so who knows ¯_(ツ)_/¯

Drax is still holding out. He normally goes after Thanksgiving because we make him a Thanksgiving meal with turkey and squash and apples.

I have never owned one of these beauties but I love seeing them and reading your stories.

How long do they brumate?

Do they brumate at certain times of the year like hibernators in the Winter?

yes it’s like hibernation! You can technically control when it happens with your lighting and heat and some people don’t let their tegus go down for brumation!

Mines been down for 2 months. I woke him to bath him once and he went back down. Has come out 2-3 times for water.
