Morbid Angel’s song, Sworn To The Black, was my gateway drug when I was in elementary school, but Cradle of Filth solidified me into a metal fan.

p.s. I guess this subreddit’s a puritan as had to censor one of the covers, which to me is surprising considering some death metal covers (Cannibal Corpse comes to mind).

i cant choose only 9, this needs to be like a top 50 at least.

New single and music video from my band, I'd love it for you to listen and share your thoughts!

No space for Annihilation of the Wicked 🥲🥲

I tried to pick records that we don't see every day on here, love seeing what everyone else has going on.

Please judge, this is mostly for my current tastes of 2026 in this genre ish

:D

If you like tdm, you reeeaaallly should try atheist and coroner, seriously.

1 Album per band (Fallujah, Revocation and Archspire would take up most of it),Sure some lean abit more Progressive but honestly it's splitting hairs at times, shout outs to Martyr and Pitbulls in the Nursery, way too underrated for how excellent they are ALSO special honourable mentions to "Ob(Servant)" by Psycroptic and "Amongst the Catacombs" by Nile :)

I'd normally include stuff like Fleshgod Apocalypse's Agony or A Life Once Lost's The Fourth Plague: Flies, but I wanted to make a more straightforward techdeath list.

Not all are exactly Tech Death but for me are the same. Awesome albums :)

I wouldn't consider all of these tech. But albums like Genesis by JFAC are musical milestones for me. I liked all their releases, but that was the first one that opened up a different kind of metal music for me.

Being tech or not, they all represent a sound or an approach to writing and playing techniques (that also influenced my own guitar playing). They're are also all albums I can listen to without skipping a single song to this day.

I like bands like Spawn of Posession, Death, Necrophagist, Inferi, Zenith Passage, Soreption, Carnosus, Summoning the Lich and just so so many more but they either didn't put out albums that I can consistently enjoy listening to without skips or just never had an impact as big in me as the albums on my list.

Also I didn't want to put more than one album by the same band.
