Feedback Appreciated First Mount
Got my first mount back this weekend and it has a line running across the right side of its face. Unfortunately, I don’t have any pictures of that side of its face when I hunted him last year. Not sure if it’s some sort of scar, crease, etc. Just curious if anyone has an idea of what it could be. I’m no expert, but besides that line, I think he came out pretty solid.

I think it’s called the zygomaticus muscle. It’s present on the blank form and looks like the taxidermist may have slightly overdeveloped it and rubbed it in too firmly. The heat and oils from our hands will alter the hair flow direction slightly and can make little details stand out.
Still a good looking mount tho, I wouldn’t sweat it too much.

Kinda looks like they hit the form on the rounded edge of something or dropped it and still used it, or dropped it/hit it on something after mounting

I got a big buck last year with a perfect killshot. One of the eyes looked like it was cockeyed when I got the mount back. I tried to talk to the guy, but he was a nice old man I just let it go cause you can’t tell unless you’re me of course..
