New additions to the collection!
I've been geeking out on these relic cards really hard, hoping to be able to score more soon!
Finally doing a rewatch after a decade of starting the show
I’m halfway through season two and I have a few thoughts.
Did Hershel hit the nail on the head when he bitched at Rick’s group for showing up and destroying things? There’s a theme in the show that all these groups, while kinda fucked up, are mostly living harmoniously. Then ricks group comes along and destroys it because they don’t approve of what’s going on, granted there’s more to it but that’s the basic telling of it. Would it have been better for them to have never found Hershel’s farm?
Also was Shane a little bit more right than I thought? Yeah he did some monstrous things like killing Otis, but he really is just trying to keep people safe, there’s a super interesting moment after dale and Shane argue about getting the guns from the woods. Dale is complaining about what happened at the barn and a couple characters basically tell him who fucking cares it already happened. I thought this was a really interesting moment to start changing the dynamics of the show and what the characters might feel about the world they live in going forward.

Andrew Lincoln was robbed…
I sound like a broken record but, I watch movies and tv shows like my life depends on it and forever and always I’ll argue that Andrew Lincoln was robbed of an Emmy. You know what most of the cast was- they put blood, sweat, and tears into the show.

Post apocalypse food scavenging & division of labor 101
One of the most interesting aspects of The walking Dead and other post-apocalypse TV series or movies is the attention paid through the most basic of survival needs, food, as well as taking care of a group through division of labor.. surviving through division of labor and scavenging for food..
So let's take a look at some examples of this from The walking Dead as well as maybe some other post-apocalyptic series and movies.
I think the best example of post-apocalypse food scavenging in The walking Dead is the first episode of season 3 where the group forces their way into a house and starts looking around for food, Daryl kills a owl begins to prepare it to cook, and Carl finds a couple cans of dog food, and he takes out his can opener and starts opening one, and Rick comes over takes a look at it, sees that it's dog food, and throws it into the fireplace.. the rest of the group looks on in silence but there seems to be a kind of acknowledgment that they would have eaten that that can of dog food too.. but that's a good reality based example of scavenging in TWD. Another example is them eating dogs. Although that's technically hunting.. and then we have an example in one of the episodes in season 1, where Shane tell Lori that she will be looking for some frog legs after that last can of beans is gone okay so they eat canned food but what about some dry beans and rice? Okay what else do we have to talk about with regard to scavenging food? Once they get on the farm and season 2 they live off the land there, that live off the chickens and crops and so forth. in season 3 we have the division of the pantry in the prison.. so that's a type of scavenging.. what else? Once they get into Alexandria, they do make some scavenging runs but it seems to be mostly weapons.
If you ask me the king of the scavenging post-apocalyptic TV shows was the 1975 BBC TV show called survivors.. there are many examples of scavenging from that show. .. scavenging food is a major plot point in several TV series.. perhaps the best example from that one is in the fourth episode gone away when the group of Abby Gregg and Jenny are scavenging food from a store and the local group comes in with guns and tries to force them out..
Also one of the interesting survival aspects of TWD and other similar series is the division of labor among a group. This has more focus than the mere scavenging of food.. in season 1 while the women are watching the clothes, they questioned the division of labor, questioning whether Ed (the bull) has anything to do but smoke cigarettes... They soon get their comeuppance.. but then again so does Ed..
And then we have season 2 where division of labor is a major aspect of the plot..
And all the way down the line including season 3 and most especially season 5, division of labor and assignment of jobs is a major aspect of the plot.. even in season 7 and 8, we see that assignment of a job for Eugene with the saviors is a major plot point...
I'm sure there are many other examples that I've missed..

I'm genuinely surprised his acting career didn't take off when he was in one of the biggest TV shows in this era,he's actually talented so that's baffling

11x21 — Gabriel recognizes dying soldier scene
The scene is from 11x21 minutes 23-26. Haven’t watched TWD in years but a recent post here reminded me of it, and I recalled having a deep emotional reaction to it when I first watched it. Couldn’t even find a clip on YouTube so I went to the episode.
I just watched it again—absolutely gut wrenching. Was honestly one of the saddest scenes in the entire show for me. The actor really did an amazing job here. It was also just a beautiful moment of redemption, one that started out as bullshit from Gabriel to get info out of the guy, but really became genuine. It was a really great moment from Gabriel for me. And Carol being there to witness it all just adds to the moment because… well.. it’s Carol I guess.
It’s extremely impactful for such a short and inconsequential scene involving a random character. I’m curious if anyone else remembers it or had a similar feeling about it.
[About the scene: It’s where Daryl interrogates the dying commonwealth soldier that Maggie stabbed. He just lays against the barn bleeding out. Gabriel then recognizes him from his congregation. Ill leave it at that— go rewatch it]

I'm getting ready to start a rewatch, come winter.
I haven't watched it since season 11 finished (I also haven't watched any of the spin-offs, except for fear the walking dead which I actually really liked).
I'm honestly looking forward to it cuz I wasn't one of those people that complained a lot about certain stuff, I'm also working my way through the comics I'm on the 6th book right now, there's just so much of the show that I don't remember I'm kind of looking forward to that specifically.

Do TWD 20th Anniversary Box Sets include the Free Comic Book Day Specials, Alien, Here's Negan, Negan Lives, and Rick Grimes 2000?
These are all the specials, which apparently had the first few in the 15th Anniversary, but it was a compendium release. What about this one?

Donnie futur ?!
Do you think that when Daryl returns to Alexandria, he will strike up a romance with Connie? I feel like we’ve been deprived of something, but I’m nt losing hope, I’ve noticed that Connie is mentioned several times in the spinnoff of Daryl..

Ed and Carol
I get tired of seeing the Negan and Lori meme.
