Looking for New Moderators

After some time, all the original moderators have gone, apart from me.

I don't have the time to moderate this subreddit in addition to all the others I do.

So I'm looking for volunteers. You will need a posting history that shows support for the accused. If you want to try out, please send me a direct message.

NOTE: I'm having trouble with the mod controls - probably due to an error when the inactive mods were removed.

This means I currently can't add new mods. Thank you for your patience.

Read the story and if you believe the evidence, please help us sign the petition and get Thomas' story out to the world! He deserves a chance!!

sign the petition below

Thomas Aranda has been in prison for 18 years — since he was 16 years old. He's never been an adult in the free world. Not once.

Here's what matters: The DNA evidence does not connect him to the crime. Independent forensic experts have reviewed the evidence and signed affidavits saying the results "substantially exonerated" him. The victim described the rapist as 5'8" with a medium build — Thomas is 6' tall. He was pressured into a guilty plea after spending over a year in solitary confinement in an adult county jail as a juvenile.

At his resentencing last June, the judge acknowledged his "substantial improvement" over 18 years — he earned his GED, became an ordained minister, trained as a counselor, organized food drives and Christmas programs. Then they sentenced him to at least 304 months with a possible life sentence. Largely because he maintains his innocence of something the science says he didn't do.

I started a petition asking the Governor of Washington to review his case and grant a pardon, or asking the Attorney General to support a new trial where the DNA evidence can finally be fully heard. If you think someone shouldn't spend their entire life in prison when forensic evidence doesn't connect them to the crime, this might matter to you. What would you want someone to do if this was your family?

If this resonates, consider signing and sharing.

My dad is facing a domestic violence charge in France after a drunken argument with my mum. Could he go to prison?

My parents have been happily married for years and are generally very loving towards each other. However, when alcohol is involved, particularly with my mum, things can get quite chaotic.
Three months ago, my parents were on holiday in France and had both been drinking heavily. My mum can become quite erratic and emotional when intoxicated, and they ended up arguing all the way back to their hotel.

Once inside their room, my mum, who was extremely drunk, began throwing objects and repeatedly hitting my dad. For context, my mum is 5’1” and my dad is 6’3”. My dad initially tried to restrain her and stop her from hitting him, but she continued. Eventually, he retaliated and slapped her across the face, which is unlike him.
My mum then ran out of the room, clutching her cheek and screaming down the hotel corridor that she was being abused. Someone nearby alerted the police, who arrived shortly afterwards.

My mum, still heavily intoxicated and extremely emotional, made several accusations against my dad. He was arrested on the spot and detained for the day. My mum also gave a statement to the French police that evening while still drunk.
Fast-forward three months, and my dad has received a summons to appear in a French criminal court this December, charged with domestic violence.

Meanwhile, my parents have reconciled, are still living together and are back to their usual loving relationship. My mum deeply regrets how everything unfolded and is now terrified that my dad could end up in prison.
I want to make it clear that I’m not excusing my dad for slapping her. Physical violence isn’t acceptable from either of them. However, I also feel the circumstances leading up to it matter, particularly that my mum was repeatedly hitting him first.
Both my parents are genuinely kind, loving people who have always looked after their family. I honestly think alcohol brings out the absolute worst in them, and personally, I don’t think either should drink again.

So I’m asking…

How seriously will a French court treat this, given that my mum initiated the physical violence?

Does the fact that they’ve reconciled and my mum regrets her statement make any difference?

Is there a realistic possibility that my dad could receive a prison sentence, despite living in the UK?

I’m particularly interested in hearing from anyone familiar with French criminal law or who has experienced something similar.

Have you ever had a suicidal crisis because of being falsely accused?

I'm not suicidal now, but I do worry that if I never clear my name I might be driven to that point.

Sexual Assault I finally have everything needed to clear my name. I feel so damaged even a year after everything.

I’m just making this post to say that sometimes the FA can be cleared. It’s going to take a good long while but there is thankfully a proxy that I will be getting the full account and the evidence to completely clear my name. My accuser thankfully has been banned already from the location for his own arrest. My body I would have liked to have hoped wouldn’t feel like I’ve fallen down stairs but the damage of isolation and malicious mental fogging really whittles away at our body, hell my fingers still tremor from just being on an almost short circuit for a bit over a year. I’ve also unfortunately damaged my organs with substance abuse so yeah I’m pretty roughed up but I’m not dead and I’m not backing down. I can only hope others here may be so lucky as to have what you need to protect yourself. I’m gonna pop out the disc that’s almost done burning with everything organized in a timeline with a parallel track that essentially states the accusations and what was claimed and said by my false accuser, I had to play detective to the very end and I’m truly burnt out and all I needed was the screenshots I thankfully had of what messages he selectively deleted to paint the narrative in a manner that I looked like a delusional person that was very publically affectionate(🙄 like seriously how did nobody figure that shit out asap). But yes I’m going to bed now and get much needed rest.

I can’t believe this is real

I Believe Police, Medical Professionals, and the Justice System in New Hampshire Covered Up What Happened to Me. Four Years Later, I’m Still Fighting for Answers.
I’m sharing my story because I’ve spent more than four years trying to get answers about two incidents that nearly destroyed my life.
I have been involved in state and federal court proceedings, reviewed police reports and medical records, questioned witnesses, and attempted to uncover what I believe are serious inconsistencies in the official accounts.
July 30, 2022 — The Night I Was Taken From My Home
On July 30, 2022, I was taken into police custody in Bartlett, New Hampshire.
I maintain that my arrest and detention were unlawful. I also allege that I was physically assaulted while in police custody and lost consciousness inside a police cruiser.
I was subsequently transported to Memorial Hospital in North Conway, New Hampshire.
What happened at that hospital has become one of the central issues in my fight for accountability.
I believe that the medical treatment I received, the documentation of my injuries, and the communications between medical personnel and law enforcement deserve serious independent scrutiny.
I have identified discrepancies involving medical records, hospital timelines, and statements subsequently made in court.
My concern is that medical professionals may have helped conceal evidence of what happened to me while I was in police custody.
I want those discrepancies independently investigated rather than dismissed.
May 27, 2023 — A Motorcycle Crash That Nearly Killed Me
Less than a year later, on May 27, 2023, I was involved in a catastrophic motorcycle crash in New Hampshire.
I believe another vehicle struck my motorcycle from behind, causing me to leave the roadway.
The crash resulted in devastating injuries. I was airlifted to Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center, spent approximately 11–12 days in intensive care, and faced a lengthy recovery.
I suffered a traumatic brain injury and spent months recovering from my injuries.
I have photographs of my damaged motorcycle, including a bent license plate, that I believe warrant further examination.
I dispute the police account of the crash and believe important information about the possibility of a rear-end collision was omitted.
What makes the timing especially troubling to me is that I understand my attorney had entered an intent-to-plead-guilty filing the night before the crash, without my knowledge or authorization.
I want to know precisely what was filed, who authorized it, and why I was not informed.
I am not claiming that the timing alone proves the events were connected. But I believe the circumstances deserve examination.
Four Years of Court Proceedings
Since these incidents, I have pursued legal action in federal court and continued defending myself against criminal charges in New Hampshire.
I have questioned police testimony, sought medical documentation, requested transcripts, and attempted to obtain evidence that I believe is essential to understanding what happened.
In June 2026, I represented myself in a federal jury trial involving allegations arising from the July 2022 incident.
I have also pursued an appeal in the United States Court of Appeals for the First Circuit.
Throughout this process, I have encountered what I believe are serious problems involving evidence disclosure, conflicting testimony, and access to records.
What I Want
I am not asking anyone to accept my allegations without evidence.
I am asking people to examine the evidence, question inconsistencies, and recognize that police reports and medical records should be subject to scrutiny just like any other evidence.
I believe my constitutional rights were violated. I believe serious misconduct may have occurred. And I believe I deserve a meaningful opportunity to have the facts independently examined.
I am willing to share appropriately redacted court filings, police reports, photographs, and medical documentation supporting the specific discrepancies I have identified.
My questions for Reddit are:
Has anyone experienced a situation where police reports and hospital records appeared to contradict one another?
What legal remedies exist when a person believes medical professionals concealed evidence of injuries sustained in police custody?
How can someone obtain an independent review of a police investigation when they believe critical evidence was omitted?
What options exist when an attorney submits a filing concerning a guilty plea without the client’s knowledge or authorization?
Are there investigative journalists or civil rights organizations that examine documented allegations of police and medical misconduct?
I am not looking for sympathy.
I am looking for accountability, transparency, and the truth.

Domestic Abuse How have you not been charged?

You used and manipulated the legal system to intentionally cause harm upon another person who was no threat or danger to you, because you were a selfish, conniving excuse for a human being. The damage you caused was astronomical and deliberate. Essentially, you lacked the courage to use a physical weapon to cause the harm you wanted to cause, so you used the police and courts, who are so incompetent that they believed you, just as you expected. Why should this be any different than any other violent crime one might perpetrate upon another? Why is this not a chargeable offense? How do you get to victimize another human being and disguise it as defense, looking like the poor doe eyed helpless woman you certainly aren't, and get away with it? No one did even the slightest harm to you. No one threatened you. No one tried to scare you. In fact, that person loved you and your children unconditionally for 7 years, until you ripped that all away from him and punished him for it. And if you had any remorse whatsoever for your actions, you'd have reached out to say so before 3 years have passed after. It takes a special kind of evil to do something like this. To pile on abuse upon abuse unto someone who you once claimed to love and who was always there for you. Where is the moral compass you so blindly claim to have?

Domestic Abuse I have been part of the group that was falsely accused for the past year.

My ex and I had been struggling for years because of her disclosures of multiple instances of infidelity. There had been times where, while during our arguments, I had to lock a bedroom door while she attempted to break the door down. It all came to a head one night when she physically assaulted me. She then started heading towards where our child was sleeping and something in me just reacted. I held her and begged her to calm down…

After this, she told me she was going to ruin my life and told me I was an abuser. She kept true to that promise, called the police, and conveniently left out her assault of me. She made it seem like I was so violent. Keep in mind, there were no injuries of any sort and I had never made any physical contact with her in the 15 years prior, so no pattern of abuse or anything.

The police did not believe me and blamed me for everything. I had to give a statement and be formally labeled as a defendant in the investigation. I even had to be interviewed by CPS because our child was present in the home during these events (he never woke up during these events).

It shattered me. The shame of it all. The most I had ever had in the previous 34 years was traffic tickets. Something inside of me broke. In the past year, there have been times where I was unsure if I could keep going. Now I am worried that my ex will leverage these accusations to steal custody of my child from me.

I break down multiple times a day. I am a shell of a human. I have no one to talk to except my therapist. My lawyer says the accusations will go nowhere, but all the waiting is killing me.

Disorderly Conduct LA DV charges

LOCATION: Tucson Arizona

TL;DR An argument started at 7pm. Cops got called. I cursed at them and called them psy whoop and that you can’t grow peach fuzz on your ba\*ls

So an argument started over a camera in a public part of the house.
I got wire cutters to snip it to turn it off. I yelled back and forth with my mother and two sisters until the camera was snatched from my hands and I was shoved.
At that point I went back to my bedroom and just cooled off.
Then they knock at my door again and again and again. I finally go back out and the yelling match ensues.
I made no threats. I made no insults.
They call the cops.
Cops arrive and knock on my bedroom door. I answer and tell them we can talk in my bedroom. They say no and they immediately handcuff me and take me to the car and read me my Miranda. I legit was so stupid to not stop talking and accept. This is arrest.
They take me back to the house and uncuff me.
The disagreements continue and I call an officer p\*ssy whooped and I tell another one he can’t grow peach fuzz on his 🥜.
They immediately cuff me again and take me to jail for the night. I get disorderly conduct la dv and my only two options are 1. Fight it without an attorney. I will not have one appointed. 2. Admit fault. Do 26 classes (I’m guessing AA and anger management) and 18 months unsupervised probation.

I am not sure what to do. On one hand I want to fight it even if I defend myself because first amendment. At the other time. Do I just take the best way to expunge this from my record and do the classes?

I tried speaking up about misleading screenshots in a server…

I was a moderator in a Discord community centered around a creator’s project, and I got caught in the middle of a serious moderation dispute. Someone had presented cropped screenshots that I believed misrepresented another user’s interactions, and the server’s warning system was used for something that seemed like it could have been handled with a private “please stop talking to me.” Rather than accepting the accusations at face value, I asked the accused user for their side of the story. They gave me permission to review their account and the full conversations so I could understand the context. I brought my concerns and evidence to the staff, but instead of reconsidering the situation, they accused me of improperly collecting screenshots and removed me from the moderation team and server.

Later, I tried to explain how the accused user was doing to someone who considered them a found sibling, because I knew how much that relationship meant to both of them. After that, the server publicly accused both me and the other user of inappropriate and manipulative interactions with minors, and accusations of grooming also started being spread. The situation has seriously affected our friendships and mental well-being. A friend who remained in the server also told me that the announcement had led to even worse conclusions being drawn about us, leaving us increasingly isolated. I genuinely believed I was doing the right thing by examining the full context and speaking up when something seemed unfair, but now I’m being accused of something I never did.

I’m struggling with how to process everything emotionally. I genuinely believe these allegations are complete bullshit. What makes this even more upsetting is that someone I believe was involved in an earlier incident where cropped screenshots contributed to another user’s ban was subsequently allowed onto the moderation team. I thought that should have raised serious concerns about how evidence was being handled. Instead, when I tried to question what was happening this time, I ended up becoming one of the people accused. It feels like I was punished for trying to prevent someone else from being treated unfairly, and now I’m sitting here because they punished me for having a sense of justice.

Has anyone here experienced something similar? How does anybody cope with these accusations? How does anybody cope with knowing that you shared all of the evidence and they decided to axe you anyways?
