Some Notes on a talk by Habib Kadhim as Saqqaf on Strengthening the Soul
A beautiful talk with much wisdom. One important point was how the external can reform the inward, in this case, smiling outwardly even while in pain inwardly can change the inward state.
A person might ask, but the outward merely reflects the inward, therefore before I can smile I must change my inward. Modern day self-help in all its forms, from psychotherapy to new age style spiritualism, focus on endless nuances of inner transformation that lead nowhere except stagnation and paralysis and confusion. The answer is much simpler than the confusion they produce.

Where there is a thirst for knowledge, there is a way to learn
Knowledge Is Light!
Knowledge is a light that illuminates our minds and shows us the right path. It brings us peace and earns us respect. It strengthens the bonds of brotherhood among Muslims and bridges the distances between us.

Where to learn about Sufism?
Assalamualaikum.
I am born Muslim, but I am still trying to find my way to Allah. I want to learn better and follow a sect closely that I feel most suitable for me. I am currently a haphazard mixture between Salafi and Wahhabi, though in recent years, I am leaning more towards Sufism.
As the title states, I want to learn more about sufism. I am a woman, and in a community full of wahhabi, it is hard for me to find someone who can teach me about it. Please help

Adopt the means
Excerpt from Hussain Ahmed Madani (rah)’s speeches and notes.
The Prophet (SAW) received glad tidings—meaning good news.
Allah says:
“It is He who sent His Messenger with guidance and the religion of truth to manifest it over all religion.”
(48:28)
“Our word [i.e., decree] has already preceded for Our servants, the messengers, that they should surely be helped, and that indeed Our soldiers [i.e., the believers] will be those who prevail.”
(37:173)
Several verses in the Quran make clear that the Prophet (saw) will prevail, his enemies will be defeated and the religion of Islam will spread.
However, the Prophet (saw) did not abandon practical means to achieve his objectives, nor did he rely solely on divine decree and Allah’s promises by withdrawing into seclusion and spiritual retreats.
No.
Despite his advanced age, the difficult terrain, the thorny desert wilderness and the hot climate, he was on the battlefield sometimes at Badr, sometimes at Uhud, sometimes digging a trench around Madinah, sometimes marching toward Makkah, sometimes in Khaybar and sometimes in Hunayn.

How are you all meeting your partners ?
Assalamu Alaykum, just wondering how everyone here has met or is looking for a spouse. Particularly those who aren’t well connected. I feel like the apps are dominated by either those who don’t really pray or take Islam seriously or people who are pseudo salafis. Even people who aren’t pseudo salafis tend to be very misinformed about tasawuf. Now that I’m 24 and looking to marry this is more of a concern since I don’t want a spouse who has issues with things like group dhikr or tariqah’s or wants to change my mind ahout things.

O brother, achieving true connection is not that easy. it is highly elevated, beyond the shooting stars.
it is possible to meet your end while you are walking to it. and remember: the path of love is hard, desolate, and harsh.

Shaykh [Dr.] Umar Faruq Abdallah on being an example for children
This talk by Shaykh [Dr.] Umar Faruq Abdullah on Muharram was full of wisdom. One the points that really struck out to me:
"...and we have children here making noise and running around, and they are welcome to do that. And if they want to come and take the microphone they are welcome to do that. One of the best things we can do for our children is to expose them to the beauty of the dhikr..."
It really speaks to the substance of the deen, which is what children will be influenced by the most. Parents and caregivers, if their children to internalize the religion in a true and substantial way, you have to embody it properly.
Unfortunately, it's all too common for parents to use harshness on their children - often because they themselves are disconnected from the dhikr and the sakina it brings forth - and we also see in many masjids the elders being harsh to little children for playing. This is not the way of the Sunnah, where the Prophet, upon him be peace, would even stop his khutbah for the sake of his grandson, who as a small child at that time, Imam al-Hasan.
