These things drive me crazy and I’m sure I’m not the only one. These damn things ruin spring and summers. I can’t go one fucking day without hearing lawn mowers or leaf blowers. When the fuck are we gonna get mower bans and switch to electric. I don’t mind ppl mowing their lawns so long as it’s not penetrating the walls or my fucking ears. At this point they might as well just replace lawn grass with genetically modified grass that only grows 1 inch.
Edit: Yes I have a job stfu. Some of yall lack empathy or are just plain evil.

I work in the suburbs. Today I had to drop my car off at a body shop for some work to be done. Figured I’d walk back to the office (less than half a mile). Was greeted by this travesty.

There are already paved paths, but gates prevent their usage.

A whole block of ugly ass lawns could fit inside an apartment building imagine all the space to save for nature. Imagine if people lived in apartments and instead walked or bus in a city m
There ugly monuments to copious consumption and the toxic nature of the nuclear family and segregation.
There are some suburbs made before cars for street cars that have public transport and more mixed use buildings that are better for people but not any suburb made in the last fifty years

Inspired after reading Ben Goldfarb's book and Paul F Donald's book which included maps for Britain.

Non big box brand groceries? At least 45 minutes away in every direction.
New local restaurant? The food is from the same grocery store I am forced to shop at and prepared by someone with no more culinary training than anyone else. Served on a real plate if you’re lucky and overpriced anyways.
Commute to work? 30 minutes one way with only unhealthy fast food on the way there.
Young educated population? There are no universities within 65 miles and nowhere for those people to gather in the burbs.
Want to travel? Airport is 1.5 hrs away and you will have to save money for overnight parking because uber is not the norm and too far away. Of course someone can drop you off, but self sufficiency is much easier with public transportation.
Want to get off your ass? You will need to drive to walk or bike.
Living like this is a premature death, there is nothing to do here but wait to die!

i’m trapped in the suburbs without a license or a car (yes i’m an american adult who can’t drive we exist)I haven’t even graduated college yet and even when i do the chances that I’ll be able to afford moving out of my parents suburban house are little to NONE and i am sick of people telling that i can “just leave”. I would KILL to be able to move to a city that actually suits my needs but the reality for most people my age is that moving out isn’t possible. i can’t get any good hours at my job over school breaks because I’m fully reliant on other people to drive me places so even when i am making money it’s not NEARLY enough to begin saving up for an apartment.
i understand this isn’t exactly a mental health sub but how tf do i keep myself from going postal when i have to live like this. HOW
edit: im convinced some of you just don’t understand that disabled people/people on certain meds exist and are NOT ABLE TO DRIVE!!!!

i hope i used the correct flair, this is my first time posting here, so if this is the wrong flair, i’m really, really sorry.
anyways, for context, i live in the second biggest suburb in my town. it’s so huge and houses multiple “mini-neighborhoods” (we call them villages) and it takes 3 whole minutes just to drive from my village to the entrances and exits of the actual neighborhood. last i checked, it takes over 30 minutes to walk to the entrance.
needless to say, i don’t go out much unless it’s for school. i am so fucking depressed about it. i can’t go visit my friends, the local restaurants and convenience stores that are BUILT into our neighborhood take half an hour to get to and i have POTs. i can’t walk that far without passing out. i have to drive everywhere but i only have my permit so i rely on adults to be in the car with me if i want to go places. when i am depressed, people tell me “just go outside !!” and do what ?? stare at all the houses and boring sidewalk ?? all of the houses look the same, the sidewalks look so depressing. when i went to NYC for two days, i was in paradise. it was a lot of walking, but everywhere i looked, there was a new building with a new shape and on top of that, coffee shops, grocery stores, beauty stores, clothing stores, etc. were right next to nearly EVERY apartment, including the one we stayed at. i loved it and i was so sad to leave. i’m just so tired of staying indoors all the time and not having a place to go to that’s not school or home and being stuck in this boring, understimulating suburb. sorry for the rant.
edit :: also wanted to add that even if wanted to make those 30 minute walks and risk passing out, i am not allowed. me and my siblings are basically on house-arrest because everything is too far away. i can only go wherever i want once i get my full license.
