Has there ever been a story where all the characters from the Strike Witches world react to another world?

I've always wondered what their reaction would be to other worlds like Star Wars, Lord of the Rings, or something like that. And what you think about it

a retirement that shouldn't feel permanent they will always be ready for what neuroi

Compendium The World of Witches (47): MOST INSANE NEUROI KILLS

Greetings everyone, and here I come like every week to deliver the next entry in Compendium of Witches, this time focused on the second winner of the three way tie as I promised I would, this time is INSANE NEUROI KILLS, I feel this topic can have a second part because it was quite fun to make, especially in the end, Doctor Duran Duran would be proud, hehehe.

WIthout further to explain..LET'S DIVE IN!

-----------------------------------------------

Introduction: Breaking Neuroi in STYLE.

Neuroi and Witches have battled for ages and even when they were wiped off the world, the battle continues against the Alone across the galaxy, Witches and their allies will always battle all the forces that seek to undermine the path of mankind, but Neuroi are the one who left the biggest impact.

We’ve discussed all the ways humanity and the Witches fight against the Neuroi, tactics, types of Neuroi both for Witches and Humans...but sometimes these protocols and tactics fail, either because the situation does not allow it, or because simply there is another unexpected factor, however they will push through and find ways to slay their foes, and sometimes...they push really hard...harder than expected and end up achieving some impressive kills.

Kills that become absolutely legendary and stories to tell in campfires, bars and even for children when their parents tell them bedtime stories.

And we will talk today about many of these impressive kills against the Neuroi across their entire existence, it cannot just be some simple feat, it has to be truly impressive and something that deviated from the usual way to kill a Neuroi (AKA: attacking or setting to fire then smashing/shooting until you reach the core), no, it needs to be truly impressive both in the set up and the execution, it will count for both Witches and normal soldiers, it doesn’t have to be just a single Witch either, it can be a team effort as long as it is truly impressive, also they won’t be set in a top tier style list, you can decide which one pleases you the most.

With these clear rules set in
let’s dive into some the most absolute and impressive Neuroi kills of history.

The Most Insane Neuroi Kills

-The Unstoppable Witch vs The Not so Unmovable Neuroi-

Neuroi come in many sizes, small, medium and huge...huge Neuroi are more commonly seen during the Great Wars era but they did exist back then in the past, they just weren’t that common.

Our first entry comes from the Tablets of Urash, the third one to be precise in which she is tasked by the King of Ka-Dingirr (Babylon) to slay a huge bulky Neuroi (the tablet describes him in an elephant shape but it clearly resembles a Thyreophora shaped beast), strong and huge, blocking the rivers but also very slow, Urash tried to battle it using her powers but the shell resisted everything, so Urash decided to bait the beast to follow her, it took hours but she led it to a muddy and slippery area, once there Urash began smashing the beast on the side from a certain angle until it flipped on its side...and once the beast flipped on its belly, Urash pummeled the beast until the core was exposed and she broke it, the whole ordeal took her approximately 12 hours to complete, a slow grinding process to deal with a Neuroi whose main strength was just being “Big and Chunky”.

-Fortunate Slip-

Lucina Vorena Pullo had many amazing recorded battle with Neuroi of all kinds, but most of them were fairly straight forward, save for a couple which were described as ridiculous in its combat, during a campaign in the alps, she and the legion she traveled with ran into a pack of canine form Neuroi numbering on the 100s, the protocol was for legionaries to form up and provide defense and support while the Witch engaged, but this time Lucina wanted to preserve the legion’s strength and decided to bait the beasts into following her, her plan was to lead them to an empty space and battle them honorably but
.turns out she ran them over a cliff where the entire pack just...fell...they slipped into a mountainous pit
.where they crashed on top of each other...so Lucina decided to just, throw rocks at them...one by one...until the pit was covered in rocks and the tremendous weight smashed the Neuroi into destruction...when the soldiers arrived...they found Lucina throwing rocks at the Abyss...and found the incident hilarious and joined her on the task, it was quite a story to tell once they went back to Rome.

-Coresport-

Barbara of Nicomedia is among the Witches with the highest Neuroi kill counts in history, numbering over 20.000...so for something to stand out with her it has to be something truly amazing, and sure enough there is one...you see most of the time Barbara would use her electric powers, her Spatha, any other kind of weapon or any kind of brutal smash...but throwing down? Never...until this story which she shares with her fellow companion of the 36th Legion, the Chinese Witch Luxi Wang.

It all happened on the time between Georgia’s Fifth and Sixth Journey, Barbara and Luxi were traveling on a mission to Qandahar with a group of merchants from Rome, when they arrived the two Witches decided to take the time to walk on the land on their own before heading back to Rome...and when they were on the Haraxvaiti river they decided to take a skinny dip and had fun...but that is when they were attacked by a group of approximately 74 “Simian Shaped” Neuroi who had learned to fight with martial arts, having nothing on them, the two decided to fight back in a similar manner, Luxi had already taught her companions some Chinese martial arts since she joined the group so Barbara was able to defend herself in this regard. Reports of eye witnesses describe the scene as “Erotically Intense” with the two naked Witches combating hand to hand against these Neuroi, throwing punched and kicks until the Witches would strike the chest several time to expose the core and either rip it out or smash it with a punch, when they were finished the gathering local crowd cheered on and the two Witches bowed in respect, an amusing tale.

-Catapult to Success-

Before being the Witch who took down Attila the Hun, Aetia would gain renown in many battles across the western empire, Witches using siege weapons to catapult themselves into the fray of the combat is common, but being themselves, the projectile meant to destroy? Very rarely and Aetia would be the first to try this, during the defense of Orleans against a group of medium sized crocodile shaped Neuroi who had fused forming one giant “Crocodile Tower” to smash the walls of the city, Aetia decided to hop on a catapult, ordered her men to aim her at the tower and she was thrown with high speed, as she moved in the air she activated her shield and began spinning in the air...until she smashed against the tower...piercing its structure and she began to “crawl” inside killing all the Neuroi inside...this stopped the tower allowing the men to fire at the visible cores to help her trim down the amount of Neuroi...until they were finished and all that was left was Aetia on the ground laughing, she had some minor fractures but she recovered...it was worth it.

-Shields of the Maiden-

A lot is said about Jeanne d’Arc the maid of Orleans and her fights to save Gallia from Britanian oppression, but she was a Witch too, so she had to fight Neuroi as well, and one of the times she did is actually an impressive battle she was engaged in.

While using shields was common among Knight Witches Jeanne did not do this, she would fight with her sword Catherine d’Fierbois and a random lance she would have at her disposal, that does not mean she did not use shields in other ways, she loved throwing shields at Neuroi like they were some sort of boomerang or chakram, with such force sometimes they would get stuck deep into the Neuroi, pierce their skin to reach the core or sometimes even decapitate them, she would toss them with one hand, two hands or even kick them towards the Neuroi, or pick up a shield, let the Neuroi fire at it so it would heat up and then toss it back at the Neuroi for maximum damage, the most insane kill she accomplished with this was using a kite shield she tossed using some impulse she got by running before tossing it, piecing 4 Neuroi on its straight path right on their cores, (They were bear shaped Neuroi) until it got stuck on a tree it almost cuts too...but the tree held on.

No one is entirely sure why she would do this, all she would say was that “It was fun” and we historians have left it at that.

-BLOCKADE-

Finally, we move into modernity and the era of the Great Wars, lots of kills began happening here and the prevalence of “Armored Neuroi” became larger, so it wasn’t as easy to kill them as they did in the past, they began using their high potency red lasers and there were bigger sized Neuroi.

However, during the First Neuroi War they were very primitive, instead of a heating surface releasing accumulated energy like you would see in the Second Neuroi War, in the first one they would still have cylinder canons to fire the lasers, which was devastating and large at first...until a group of Hispanian soldiers dared to do something crazy. The Euskara 6th Brigade battling in Gallia were completely surrounded by Neuroi while the Witches went out of the trenches to fight, but one Neuroi began closing in on their location, desperate and not wanting to die, the commander of the Brigade, Markel Sonora decided to try something daring, he ordered a group of his men to divert fire from the Neuroi while he and a group of soldiers began sneaking closer to the enemy with one purpose...blocking the cylinder cannon with scraps, it was a complicated maneuver and a couple of them died but they managed to reach the Neuroi, they waited for a chance and when the Neuroi stopped firing they blew its legs making it fall and STOCK that scrap inside as hard as they could and began to RUN AWAY
the Neuroi tried to fire and

...It blew into a million pieces...it was a great success and the Brigade was saved, later this method was spread and due to the difficulty, it wasn’t as commonly used but...they did use it a lot...no wonder the Neuroi changed their tactics.

-Breaking the Porcupine-

Moving into the Second War, there was a situation the Typhoon Witches faced during their campaign, they faced a sort of “Porcupine Neuroi” a large structure which would fire lasers in every direction, making it VERY difficult to approach, it even had spikes and all which would not be destroyed...BUT...Huberta von Bonin discovered that they could be tilted..

As such the focused changed from charging to just shooing large boulders and heavy projectiles using mortars to change the patter and direction of the firing spikes, breaking the perfect well rounded defense of the Neuroi creating blind spots where they could just throw explosives at, falling right on the back, unlike the large chunky boy Urash faced, this guy’s only defense were the spikes so...when it exploded it shattered the back and the spikes...which began firing upon the Neuroi itself and...well...it killed itself
.however the process was arduous and it took several days to achieve the desired purpose...gotta hand it to these Witches, they’re patient.

-RIDING THE BEAST TO THE GROUND-

Usually Witches would just engage from the distance, very few would approach at close range but...only a couple would dare to do what Dominica Gentile did, while the Ardor Witches faced a flying Neuroi which fired a special drilling laser against Venice and was very fast, Dominica decided to wait for the Neuroi to arrive while she hid on the clouds...once it approached she calculated the time and with a very sturdy rope in hand she let herself fall and...she catch that Neuroi like a wild stallion, the Neuroi tried to shook her off but Dominica held firm (Despite suffering multiple hits and tearing) she held like a true champion and was able to subdue the Neuroi...making it crash on an island, where she could just shoot it until the core was exposed and she broke it
.she later had to be assisted by her companions but...it was quite the gamble, thankfully it paid off.

-SO LONG NEUROI!!-

Stoyana Stoyanov from the Mirage Witches was a strong well-tuned lady, all Witches are strong but few actually worked constantly to build a muscular physique, Stoyana was one of them, ever since she was recruited by the Moesian army she has done so, so this is a point of great pride for the Witch.

And she does not shy away from using this advantage on the battlefield, she was known for charging at the enemy, usually large sized Neuroi to just tear and smash them apart with her hands, but there was one time where she faced a fast Neuroi, tired of chasing after it, she decided to intercept it...grab it by the back and just spin...and spin and spin around until she just TOSSED the Neuroi towards the Balkan Mountains where it absolutely collapsed and destroyed itself on impact, people said she spun as fast as a fan that day and the Neuroi just “screamed” every time she completed a circle...it was absolute beautiful chaos.

-Grinder-

This was to a medium sized Neuroi but was an absolute vicious one, called by us Space Mikos as “The Rubik Neuroi”, an all-round cube machine capable of switching its firing spots and core location at insane speeds, it was one of the last champions the Neuroi released in order to fight off the Witches as the war closed in Berlin, and as you can imagine, it was an absolute pain in the ass to deal with.

However the Strike and Brave Witches pulled through and managed to reduce its firing power by breaking the firing panels in its surface, however the core still moved very fast, so Charlotte Yeager and Waltrud Krupinski decided to do something absolutely insane...they grabbed the Neuroi, hit the top speed of both their striker units and their powers and just moved the Neuroi across the road...grinding the Neuroi on the soil, the pavement and the rocks as they just SPED AND SPED FORWARD, they rode across approximately 400 kilometers in Karlsland territory grinding the Neuroi on the road...until only the last cube containing the core remained, which was also grinded into dust until it exploded...it is said the black trail they left behind lit up when the core exploded as it faded...a beautiful sight for such a herculean task.

-The Wild Excessive Neuroi-

And we saved our favorite for last, during the Third Neuroi War, they attempted to understand the Aquarian Witches, Stormcloud Yeager was the one who experimented this attempt the most, and how would the Neuroi do this you ask? By sticking “appendices” on a Witch through the places they felt most magic irradiating from, and it just so happens that the vagina and the asshole are one of those places, it sound absolutely perverse but do not worry, for such is the energy Witches have in those areas that the moment Neuroi attempted this with Stormcloud...they EXPLODED because the magical feedback produced by Aquarian Witches was intense...and they could never figure it out before Stormcloud was rescued, after that they were not able to do it again because Witches became way too powerful for them thanks to the Deae Battlesuits.

But on the Second War this wasn’t as intense,  so it was the first time they tried this, and they tried it with Silent Witch Giuseppina Cenni, she was captured by a group of Neuroi with the intention of studying her, and once she was subdued and drugged with gases to render her incapable, they assaulted her body and at first...it worked...the tendrils went into her orifices and they even attempted to do it on the mouth
.but then
.the Neuroi began to get more intense in their exploitation to the point Giuseppina began moaning...which made the Neuroi smoke out...even the ones not part of the operation, they began heating up...until...one by one...the Neuroi just...died...yes...their cores just...shut off...and didn’t even explode, they just became masses of smoking mineral
and Giuseppina was left...there...tired and when the effects passed, she simply picked up her things, her strikers and just...went back...to make Tomoko and Elma uncomfortable with that story and fire up Haruka’s imagination.

So yes, in summary...Giuseppina overheated the Neuroi with her hot intense magical Italian body...next time any of you has the honor of laying with a Witch on bed remember...that vagina can fry Neuroi.

A STRIKE WITCHES HORROR STORY

### Chapter 1 — The Abandoned Base

Dark clouds pressed low over the coastline, turning the military base into a smear of lifeless grey. A cold wind dragged the smell of wet concrete and something faintly metallic across the empty grounds. Distant thunder rolled over the sea like a slow, heavy breath.

Ernesta Botto made her way toward the entrance, with every step making a dull, steady rhythm. She had expected the usual noise of the 501st—engines, laughter, the clatter of boots. Instead the base sat silent under the weight of the sky.

She slowed.

“Hello?”

Her voice vanished into the courtyard as if the air itself had swallowed it.

No answer.

She stepped inside. The corridor lights flickered weakly, casting long, unsteady shadows. The familiar sounds of the wing were gone. No footsteps. No voices. Only the soft groan of the building settling.

“Charlotte? Francesca? Lynette?”

Silence.

She moved deeper, checking rooms one by one. Beds were unmade. Personal items lay where they had been dropped—half-folded letters, a hairbrush, a mug still holding cold tea. A chair lay on its side near a doorway. Papers littered the floor like the aftermath of a sudden panic.

It looked as though everyone had fled in the middle of something urgent.

No one had told her.

“Mio? Perrine? Sanya? Eila?”

Her voice cracked on the last name.

“Is anybody here?”

Nothing answered.

She reached the hangar and stopped at the threshold.

Striker Units lay scattered across the concrete like discarded shells. Some rested on their sides against the walls. Others had been abandoned mid-maintenance, tools and cables tangled around them. The air smelled of oil and something sharper—copper, wet and wrong.

Dark stains marked the floor near one workbench. More residue streaked a section of wall. Beyond them, strange red symbols had been painted across the concrete in thick, uneven strokes. The shapes did not look human.

Ernesta crouched, fingers hovering above the nearest mark.

“What happened here?”

A faint crimson glow pulsed from a doorway at the far end of the hangar.

She straightened.

“Hello?”

For a moment she thought she saw movement in the dark.

Then a voice drifted out of it.

“Ernesta.”

She froze.

She knew that voice.

“Yoshika?”

No reply.

She took a cautious step forward.

“Where is everyone? I’ve called for Charlotte, Francesca, Lynette, Mio, Perrine, Sanya, Eila
the maintenance crew—Seiler, Stigler, Unwin, Yoshida. No one answered.”

The silence thickened.

Yoshika’s voice returned, soft and wrong.

“You’re asking the wrong questions.”

Outside, thunder rolled closer. The hangar doors creaked under the wind.

Ernesta looked at the scattered Strikers, then at the crimson glow.

Whatever had emptied the base, Yoshika seemed to know. And Ernesta already felt the cold certainty that she would not like the answer.

She stepped through the doorway.

The darkness closed around her like a mouth.

### Chapter 2 — The Girl in the Darkness

The room beyond was colder than the hangar. A weak crimson light pulsed from somewhere deeper inside, staining the walls the colour of old blood.

Ernesta moved carefully.

“Yoshika? Is that you?”

No answer.

Her eyes adjusted slowly. The air smelled of damp stone and something organic, faintly sweet and rotting. The walls looked older here, the concrete cracked and stained.

Then she saw the figure.

Someone sat hunched against the far wall, head bowed, uniform torn and hanging in damp folds.

Ernesta’s chest loosened for a single heartbeat.

“Yoshika?”

The figure did not move.

She approached.

“Thank goodness. I’ve been looking everywhere—”

The figure raised its head.

Ernesta’s relief died.

Yoshika’s eyes were bloodshot, the whites almost entirely red. Her expression was empty, as if the muscles of her face had forgotten how to form emotion. When she stood, the motion was slow and jointed, like something learning to use a body it no longer owned.

Coarse patches of fur had begun to push through her skin along the jaw and collarbone. On her forearms, the familiar blue magical circles were blackened at the edges, as though they had been burned from the inside.

“What happened to your magic?”

Yoshika looked down at her hands.

The circles glowed blue for a moment.

Then the light curdled into deep crimson.

She curled her fingers slowly.

“Magic is not a gift,” she whispered. The voice was Yoshika’s, but thinner, stretched over something else. “It’s a dormant strain.”

“No. Yoshika, stop. Whatever this is—”

Yoshika advanced. Ernesta backed away. “Yoshika, please!” She turned and ran.

Behind her, Yoshika simply watched from the doorway. She did not chase. That stillness was worse than pursuit. It felt like being observed by something that already knew the outcome.

Ernesta fled through corridors that no longer felt familiar. Older walls. Weaker lights. A cold draft that carried the same metallic sweetness.

She found a heavy metal door half-hidden behind a panel. The same red symbols had been carved into its surface, deep and deliberate. They looked less like decoration and more like a seal.

She pushed.

The door groaned open on a narrow staircase descending into red-tinged dark. From below came a low mechanical hum, steady and patient.

Ernesta stared down the steps.

If answers existed, they were waiting in that light.

She descended.

### Chapter 3 — Truth Beneath the Wings

The staircase ended at another metal door. Beyond it lay a laboratory that smelled of dust, old oil, and the faint copper tang of dried blood.

Cabinets lined the walls. Tables held abandoned equipment. Papers lay scattered as though someone had searched the room in desperation and then left.

Ernesta approached the central worktable.

The documents spoke of magical output, biological response, and the relationship between witches and Neuroi.

One page carried a line in heavy black ink:

CESSATION OF MAGICAL OUTPUT DOES NOT INDICATE RECOVERY. IT INDICATES PROGRESSION TO THE NEXT STAGE.

She turned another sheet.

THE SUBJECT’S LOSS OF MAGIC MAY NOT BE THE END OF THE PROCESS. IT MAY BE THE POINT AT WHICH THE PROCESS BECOMES IRREVERSIBLE.

A handwritten note at the bottom:

CONTAINMENT DELAYS PROGRESSION. IT DOES NOT REVERSE IT.

Her hands began to shake.

Further into the room, large mechanical structures stood against the far wall. Their shapes recalled Neuroi components, but modified, grown into something that looked half-machine, half-organism.

Inside them, the witches of the 501st hung suspended.

Charlotte. Francesca. Lynette, Perrine. Sanya, Eila, and the others

Their bodies were held by metal supports that pierced and cradled them. Tubes and cables connected to their lower bodies as if the machines had begun to grow into them. Their eyes were closed. Their chests rose and fell with the slow, regular rhythm of something kept alive rather than living.

“Charlotte?”

No response.

“Francesca? Lynette?”

Nothing.

Ernesta reached toward Eila and could not touch her. The machinery would not allow it.

“I’ll get you out,” she whispered. The promise felt thin in the humming dark. “I promise.”

She left the laboratory with the words still burning behind her eyes.

Containment delays progression.

It does not reverse it.

### Chapter 4 — Crimson Eye

A narrow passage led upward. Ernesta emerged onto the roof into thick grey mist that hid the sea and the sky.

Someone stood near the edge.

“Mio?”

Mio Sakamoto turned. Her eye patch was gone. The eye beneath glowed a deep, pulsing crimson, the colour of neuroi.

“Ernesta.”

“I found them. The others—they’re in machines under the base. I don’t know how to free them.”

“I know.”

The words landed like a stone. “You know?”

“I’ve been trying to understand what happened here.”

Mio’s voice was calm, but the crimson eye never stopped watching.

“The facility was investigating the relationship between magic and the Neuroi. The researchers began to suspect magic was not simply an ability. They believed it was part of a biological process that could change
 or develop.”

Ernesta remembered the documents.

“And losing magic didn’t mean the process was ending.”

“It meant the process had advanced beyond what they could measure.”

Mio looked out into the mist.

“The containment runes were designed to delay it. They never discovered whether the changes could be reversed. They only bought time.”

The crimson light in her eye brightened for a moment, then settled.

“Yoshika has begun changing in the way they feared most.”

Ernesta’s throat felt tight.

“Can they be saved?”

Mio did not answer at once.

“Be careful, Ernesta. Find out what Yoshika knows. And do not assume that what you are seeing is the whole truth.”

Ernesta returned to the dark.

### Chapter 5 — The Last Healing Spell

She found Yoshika standing near a window in one of the older corridors. The crimson markings on her arms glowed faintly through the torn sleeves.

“Yoshika.”

Yoshika turned. Those bloodshot eyes settled on her.

“I found the laboratory. I know about the machines. I know what the researchers wrote.”

Yoshika said nothing.

“Please. Help me understand. The others are trapped. I don’t know how to get them out.”

Yoshika raised one hand.

“I can try to heal you.”

Ernesta stared at her, confusion cutting through the fear.

“Heal me?” She took a half-step back. “I’m not hurt. Why would you—”

Her eyes flicked to the blackened edges of the circles on Yoshika’s arms, to the empty expression, to the patches of fur that shouldn’t be there.

“Yoshika
what’s wrong with you? Why are you saying that?”

Yoshika did not answer. The blue magical circle began to form around her palm anyway.

Ernesta’s pulse spiked.

“Stop. I don’t need healing. You’re the one who’s—”

The light looked almost familiar for a second. Then the edges darkened. The blue bled into crimson. A crystalline shape pushed outward from the centre, lengthening, sharpening, until it was a jagged crimson shard.

“Yoshika
 what is that?”

Yoshika did not answer.

“Stop. Please!”

Yoshika advanced.

Ernesta ran.

She made it into the hangar before Yoshika appeared in the doorway behind her. Ernesta backed against a workbench, one hand raised.

“Stay back. Please. I don’t want to fight you.”

Yoshika lunged.

The shard drove into Ernesta’s side.

Pain exploded white and absolute. She cried out and collapsed. The shard tore free and clattered onto the concrete, still glowing.

Ernesta stared up at Yoshika, disbelief louder than the pain.

“Yoshika
 why?”

Yoshika’s face remained empty.

Ernesta dragged herself backward, then forced herself upright and staggered into the corridor. Yoshika followed at a measured pace, never hurrying, never speaking.

Back in the hangar, Ernesta pressed a hand to the wound. The familiar warmth of her magic did not answer.

She tried again.

Nothing.

“Why isn’t it healing?”

She stared at her hand, then at the fallen shard, then at Yoshika.

She had wanted answers.

Instead she had been given this.

### Chapter 6 — Abandoned in the Mist

The hangar held its silence like a held breath.

Ernesta braced against the workbench, hand pressed to the wound. Every attempt to call her magic ended in the same hollow nothing.

Yoshika stood a short distance away, crimson markings glowing softly.

“Why?” Ernesta’s voice trembled. “You said you could heal me. I believed you.”

Yoshika did not answer.

“Did you do something to my magic? I saw your circle turn. Is that what happened to you? Is that why you’re changing?”

The markings on Yoshika’s arms brightened.

Ernesta flinched.

She tried again to summon power. The effort left her shaking and empty.

“I don’t understand,” she whispered. “I’m scared.”

For a fleeting instant something familiar flickered in Yoshika’s eyes—recognition, or regret. Then it vanished.

The red symbols on the floor began to glow. Crimson light traced the strange geometry across the concrete, then faded again.

Outside, the mist thickened.

Ernesta stood injured and magicless before the thing that still wore her friend’s face, waiting for an answer that never came.

### Chapter 7 — The War Ends When the Hosts Are Fully Integrated

Neither of them moved.

“I found the laboratory,” Ernesta said. “I read the documents. I saw the others. I know the researchers believed the process continued after magic was gone.”

Yoshika’s eyes remained fixed on her.

“Then you understand.”

“No, I don’t! What does integration mean? What are we being integrated with?”

Yoshika looked down at the markings on her arms.

“The containment only delayed it.”

“Delayed what?”

“The process.”

“What process?”

Yoshika’s voice was almost gentle.

“The war ends when the hosts are fully integrated.”

Ernesta’s breath caught.

“The hosts? Are you saying we’re the hosts? All of us?”

Yoshika’s gaze dropped to the symbols on the floor.

“The machines are keeping them contained while the process continues.”

“Charlotte. Francesca. Lynette. Perrine. Sanya. Eila
are they going to become like you?”

Yoshika did not answer.

“Is there a way to stop it? Can it be reversed?”

“The researchers never found a way.”

Ernesta’s voice rose, cracking.

“They could have been wrong! They might not have understood it well enough!”

Yoshika remained still.

Ernesta’s anger bled into fear.

“I don’t want to lose everyone. I don’t want to lose you.”

For a moment the familiar expression returned to Yoshika’s face. Then it was gone.

The containment markings brightened once more, illuminating the scattered equipment in brief, bloody light before fading.

“The researchers only bought time,” Ernesta whispered.

She looked at Yoshika and asked the question that had no answer.

“Please. Don’t let this be the end.”

Outside, the mist continued its slow advance across the abandoned grounds.

### Chapter 8 — The Nightmare Deepens

The hangar grew darker, though the lights had not changed.

Mist began to seep beneath the doors.

Ernesta looked at her hands, turning them over as if she expected to find the change already written there.

She tried to summon her magic.

A faint flicker of warmth answered—then vanished.

“No
”

She tried again. Nothing.

“I need to wake up.” The words slipped out. “This is a nightmare. It has to be.”

The floor was solid. The workbench was cold. The wound still throbbed.

Everything felt real.

The mist thickened, swallowing the far end of the hangar. Through it, Ernesta saw shapes—familiar silhouettes standing together in the fog.

“Charlotte? Francesca? Lynette?”

She stepped forward.

“Wait! It’s me! I’ll get you out!”

The figures remained indistinct. The fog between them grew denser. One by one the silhouettes dissolved.

“No! Please!”

She reached out. The distance between her and the vanishing shapes stretched impossibly.

Yoshika was only a shadow wrapped in crimson light.

“What’s happening?” Ernesta cried.

The last figure disappeared.

She stood alone in the mist, turning in every direction.

“Charlotte? Lynette? Anybody?”

No answer.

She squeezed her eyes shut.

“I don’t want this. I don’t want to lose them. I don’t want to lose myself.”

The darkness closed in.

“I DON’T WANT THIS!”

Her cry was swallowed by the fog.

### Chapter 9 — The Next Stage

Yoshika’s voice came out of the silence.

“It’s not just witches, Ernesta.”

Ernesta stared at her.

“Mages will soon fall victim to the process, too.”

“How? Why would it happen to me?”

“It takes longer for them. The process affects them differently. But it still progresses.”

Ernesta tried again to call her magic. Nothing answered.

Her legs gave way. She fell to her knees beside the workbench. Tears welled.

She wiped her cheeks—and froze.

Something dark streaked across her fingers.

She raised her hand closer to her face. The substance was thick, black, and warm.

Her tears were black.

“No
”

Fresh tears slipped down. The dark residue left streaks on her skin.

“What’s happening to me?”

Yoshika looked down at her.

“Ernesta, you’re already in the next stage.”

Ernesta shook her head violently.

“No! I can’t be!”

She tried to wipe her face. The black substance only spread further.

“I don’t want to become like you. I don’t want to lose my magic. I don’t want to lose myself.”

She looked at her hands again. The black tears continued to fall.

For the first time she could no longer pretend the process belonged only to Yoshika or the witches in the machines.

It was happening to her.

And she had no idea how far it would go.

### Chapter 10 — This Can’t Be Happening

Ernesta remained on her knees, staring at the black residue coating her fingers. She rubbed her hands against her uniform, trying to scrape it away. It clung.

Dark lines had begun to branch beneath the skin of her wrists, creeping along her forearms. Faint black discoloration spread under her collar. Tiny crystalline flecks appeared across the backs of her hands. Her skin looked unnaturally pale wherever the markings passed.

She pulled back her sleeves, searching for any sign that she was imagining it.

The markings were there.

She looked down at her prosthetic.

The familiar surface had darkened. Irregular black patterns spread across the outer casing. The joints looked discolored. Between several connecting sections the material had become dark and uneven.

Then she saw the residue.

A thick black substance was slowly seeping through the joints, gathering along the seams before trailing down the prosthetic’s surface.

“No
”

She reached toward it, then stopped, afraid of what her fingers would find.

“This can’t be happening.”

An air-raid siren began to wail—distorted, wavering, far too loud. The sound filled the hangar like something alive and in pain.

Fog poured through the open doorways, swallowing the Striker Units and the workbenches.

Through the mist she saw two figures standing together at the far end of the hangar.

One was Yoshika, crimson markings glowing, patches of fur still visible on her skin.

Beside her stood Seiler.

Ernesta’s breath stopped.

Dark markings spread across Seiler’s skin. Black discoloration crept along her arms. Her eyes were hollow and wrong. The same corrupted signs that marked Yoshika marked her as well.

Seiler did not move. She only watched.

“Seiler?” Ernesta’s voice cracked. “It’s me!”

Neither figure responded.

“Please, say something!”

The siren screamed.

Ernesta stumbled backward. Black tears ran down her face. Her hands reached helplessly toward her best friend.

“Please! You can’t be like this! Not you!”

When she tried to call out again, the words emerged wrong—harsh, metallic, distorted until she barely recognised her own voice.

She covered her mouth in horror.

Even her voice was changing.

“PLEASE!”

The cry came out broken and metallic.

“This can’t be happening!”

The fog swept higher. The crimson lights became formless blurs in the swirling dark.

Ernesta reached toward Seiler one last time.

“Please! I’m scared! I don’t want this!”

Her words were almost unrecognisable beneath the distortion.

“SEILER! PLEASE!”

The mist engulfed everything.

Ernesta screamed.

“THIS CAN’T BE HAPPENING!”

Ernesta woke with a sharp gasp.

She bolted upright in her bed, breathing hard, body damp with sweat. For a moment she stared around the room, disoriented, heart hammering as she tried to understand where she was.

The hangar.

The fog.

The siren.

Seiler standing beside Yoshika.

Her corrupted prosthetic.

She looked down at her right leg at once.

It was normal.

She ran trembling fingers over the familiar surface. No black residue. No strange discoloration. No sign of the corruption she had seen.

She checked her hands.

No dark markings.

No black tears.

Her magic was still her own.

Ernesta drew a shaky breath.

“It was a dream
”

Her voice sounded normal.

She pressed a hand to her chest, trying to slow her racing heart.

“It was just a nightmare.”

Beside her, Seiler stirred beneath the blankets.

“Ernesta?”

Seiler sat up sleepily, then immediately noticed Ernesta’s frightened expression and uneven breathing.

“What’s wrong? Are you all right?”

Ernesta turned toward her.

For a moment she could only stare.

Seiler was there. Safe. Familiar. Herself.

The relief hit so suddenly that tears filled her eyes.

“Seiler
”

“I’m here. What’s happened?”

Ernesta reached for her and pulled her into a tight embrace.

Seiler was startled for a second, then wrapped her arms around Ernesta at once.

Ernesta buried her face against Seiler’s shoulder, her whole body trembling as the fear finally caught up with her.

“I thought I’d lost you,” she sobbed.

Seiler held her close.

“Lost me? What do you mean?”

Ernesta struggled to explain between tears.

“I had this horrible nightmare. The base was abandoned, and Yoshika was infected. Everyone was changing, and then
” She drew a shaky breath. “Then I saw you standing beside her. You were infected, too.”

Seiler’s arms tightened.

“Oh, Ernesta
”

“My leg was changing. There was this black substance coming out of the joints, and my hands were covered in it. I couldn’t use my magic, and even my voice sounded different.” Ernesta clutched Seiler’s uniform. “I kept begging for it to stop, but nothing worked.”

Seiler listened quietly, letting Ernesta tell her everything she had witnessed.

“The fog was everywhere. There was an air-raid siren, and I couldn’t get away. I saw you standing there, but you wouldn’t answer me.”

Her voice broke again.

“I thought it was really happening. I thought I was losing myself, and I couldn’t save you.”

Seiler gently rested a hand against the back of Ernesta’s head.

“It’s all right. I’m here.”

Ernesta lifted her face slightly, tears still running down her cheeks.

“But it felt so real.”

“I know. Nightmares can feel terribly real when you’re in them.”

Ernesta looked at her, still frightened.

“You’re really here?”

Seiler gave her a reassuring nod.

“I’m right here, Ernesta. Look at me.”

Ernesta did.

Seiler was herself. Her expression was warm and concerned, and her arms remained wrapped around Ernesta.

“I’m here for you,” Seiler said softly. “You’re safe. It was a nightmare, and you’re not facing it alone.”

Ernesta let out a trembling breath and rested her head against Seiler’s shoulder again.

“Please, stay with me for a little while.”

“Of course.”

Seiler held her gently while Ernesta continued to cry, letting her take all the time she needed.

Gradually Ernesta’s breathing began to settle. The frightening images still lingered, but she could feel Seiler’s embrace and hear her quiet, reassuring voice.

Her friend was safe.

Her prosthetic was unchanged.

The black substance was gone.

And the nightmare, however terrifying it had been, was over.

Ernesta closed her eyes, keeping her head against Seiler’s shoulder.

“Thank you,” she whispered.

Seiler gently squeezed her hand.

“You don’t have to thank me. I’m here for you, Ernesta. Everything is all right.”

For now, Ernesta held on to those words, letting herself rest in the comfort of her best friend’s embrace.

### Chapter 11 — A Quiet Breakfast

Morning sunlight streamed through the windows of the base, filling the corridors with a warmth that felt worlds away from the darkness of Ernesta’s nightmare.

The sky outside was clear.

The sea glittered in the distance.

The familiar sounds of the base had returned: footsteps in the corridor, quiet conversation, the clatter of dishes from the dining room.

Everything was ordinary.

And Ernesta had never been more grateful for ordinary things.

She sat at a table in the dining room, looking down at her breakfast. She had barely touched it.

Her right leg rested comfortably beneath the table, its prosthetic unchanged. Her hands looked normal. When she flexed her fingers, her magic answered with the familiar sensation she had always known.

There were no black tears.

No dark markings.

No crimson glow.

It had all been a nightmare.

Yet the memory remained vivid enough to make her pause whenever she thought about it.

Across from her, Seiler noticed her staring at her plate.

“You haven’t eaten much.”

Ernesta looked up.

“Sorry. I’m trying.”

Seiler gave her a gentle smile.

“You don’t have to rush.”

Ernesta picked up her fork and took a small bite. She chewed slowly, then set it down again.

Seiler didn’t press her. She simply stayed beside Ernesta, offering the quiet reassurance of her company.

After a little while, someone approached their table.

“Are you feeling all right?”

Ernesta looked up.

Mio stood nearby, her expression warm but concerned.

Ernesta hesitated.

“I’m feeling better.”

Mio pulled out a chair and sat with them.

“Seiler mentioned that you had a difficult night.”

Ernesta glanced at Seiler, who gave her an encouraging nod.

“I had a nightmare,” Ernesta admitted.

Mio folded her hands on the table.

“Would you like to tell me about it?”

Ernesta looked toward the window. Sunlight fell across the floor. She could see members of the wing moving about outside.

For a moment she remembered the abandoned hangar from her dream—the scattered Striker Units, the strange red markings, Yoshika standing in the darkness.

She took a slow breath.

“In the nightmare, I arrived at the base and everyone was gone. I searched the corridors and the hangar, but nobody answered me.”

Mio listened quietly.

“Then I found Yoshika. She looked
wrong. Her eyes were bloodshot, and there were strange markings on her arms. She told me magic wasn’t a gift, that it was some kind of dormant strain.”

Ernesta lowered her gaze to her hands.

“I found a hidden laboratory beneath the base. The others were trapped in machines, and there were documents about a process the researchers couldn’t reverse.”

Mio’s expression grew more serious, but she didn’t interrupt.

“Then I found you on the roof. You explained that the researchers thought the process could continue even after a witch lost her magic.”

She paused.

“And then Yoshika attacked me.”

Seiler moved a little closer.

Ernesta drew a shaky breath.

“I couldn’t understand why. I tried to use my magic, but it wouldn’t work. Yoshika told me the process was continuing, and that mages could be affected too.”

She looked down at her fingers.

“My tears turned black.”

Mio’s expression softened.

“In the dream, I thought I was changing. I couldn’t stop it, and I couldn’t help anyone. Then my prosthetic changed too. There was this black substance coming out of its joints.”

Ernesta’s voice trembled.

“And then I saw Seiler standing beside Yoshika. She looked infected, just like her. I called out, but she wouldn’t answer.”

Seiler gently placed her hand over Ernesta’s.

“I’m right here.”

Ernesta nodded, grateful for the reminder.

“I know. I saw that when I woke up. But in the nightmare, I really thought I’d lost you.”

Mio gave her a moment before speaking.

“That sounds frightening, Ernesta. Especially because you were trying so hard to protect everyone, and nothing you did seemed to work.”

Ernesta looked at her.

“I kept thinking that if I could just understand the process, I could save them. But I couldn’t find a way.”

“You don’t have to solve every frightening thing on your own,” Mio replied. “And a nightmare isn’t a prediction of what will happen.”

Ernesta was quiet.

Mio continued gently.

“You were afraid of losing your friends. That doesn’t mean you will lose them.”

Seiler squeezed Ernesta’s hand.

“We’re all here.”

Ernesta glanced around the dining room.

Nearby, Charlotte was talking with Francesca. Lynette sat with Perrine, while Sanya and Eila shared a quiet conversation at another table. Other members of the wing moved in and out of the room, carrying breakfast and greeting one another.

They were all safe.

They were all themselves.

Yoshika was there too, talking with the others as though nothing terrible had ever happened.

Ernesta watched her for a moment.

The Yoshika from her nightmare seemed impossible to reconcile with the familiar girl across the room. There were no crimson markings, no empty expression, no sign of the terrifying changes Ernesta had witnessed.

Yoshika noticed her looking and waved.

Ernesta managed a small wave in return.

Her shoulders relaxed slightly.

Mio followed her gaze.

“Sometimes a frightening dream stays with us long after we wake up,” she said. “You don’t have to pretend it didn’t upset you. Just remember that you’re here, with people who care about you.”

Ernesta nodded.

“Thank you, Mio.”

Mio smiled.

“Of course.”

For a few moments they sat together in comfortable silence.

Then Seiler nudged Ernesta’s plate gently toward her.

“Now, how about finishing some breakfast?”

Ernesta looked down at her food.

For the first time that morning, she smiled.

“All right.”

She picked up her fork and took another bite.

It was a small thing—nothing more than an ordinary breakfast shared with friends. Yet every familiar sound and every ordinary moment seemed precious after the nightmare she had endured.

She could hear Charlotte laughing.

She could see Francesca gesturing excitedly as she told a story.

She could hear Lynette responding softly, and Perrine making a remark that caused Sanya to smile.

Seiler sat beside her, warm and reassuring, her hand resting near Ernesta’s.

Mio remained with them, making sure Ernesta had time to settle.

The morning continued.

Ernesta ate a little more, and as she did, the tension that had followed her out of sleep gradually began to ease.

The nightmare had felt real.

The fear had been real.

But the things she had feared had not happened.

Her magic was still hers.

Her prosthetic was unchanged.

Her tears were ordinary tears.

And her friends were safe.

Ernesta glanced at Seiler.

“I’m glad you’re here.”

Seiler smiled.

“I’m glad I’m here, too.”

Ernesta leaned gently against her friend’s shoulder for a moment before sitting upright again.

Outside, the sunlight continued to brighten the base.

There were duties to attend to, conversations to join, and another ordinary day waiting for the 501st Joint Fighter Wing.

Ernesta knew she might remember the nightmare for a while. She might think about the abandoned base, the crimson markings, and the frightening things Yoshika had said.

But she no longer had to face those memories alone.

She looked around the table at the people who mattered to her.

Then she picked up her fork again.

“Right,” she said quietly. “I think I’m ready to finish breakfast.”

Seiler gave her an approving smile, and Mio rose to return to her own duties.

Ernesta took another bite as the dining room carried on around her.

The sun shone through the windows.

Her friends were safe.

And for now, that was enough.

The nightmare was over.

Morning had come, and Ernesta was home.

Chris Barkhorn is a young Karlslandic girl and the younger sister of Gertrud Barkhorn. Her life changed dramatically following a Neuroi attack that left her in a coma. After suddenly awakening, Chris discovered that she had become a witch, a revelation first recognized by her new friend Aina, who detected her magical potential after coming to her aid. News of Chris's awakening and transformation would also bring significant changes to her relationship with Gertrud, who had always cared deeply for her younger sister. Chris also came to look up to Stigler, developing a bond of trust and respect with her as another important figure in her life. In early 1942, Chris and Aina were transferred to the Maginot Detachment in Gallia, serving near the Noble Witches Joint Fighter Wing. As Chris adjusted to her unexpected transformation and newfound abilities, Gertrud remained an important part of her life, concerned for her sister's safety while recognizing her determination to serve. Stigler also became someone Chris admired and learned from, offering her another source of encouragement as she faced her new circumstances. With Gertrud's support, Stigler's example, and Aina's friendship, Chris gradually began finding her place among her new comrades, learning to embrace her identity as a witch and face the challenges of her new military career.

As Gertrud Barkhorn's younger sister, she admires her older sister's strength and shares a similar ability to enhance her physical power. (comment thank you)

Waltraud Schuck born in Saarland, Karlsland is an elite mage combatant who distinguished herself through her military training, combat experience, and service on several important fronts during the Second World War. In early 1941, she was deployed to the Eastern Front, where she fought against the Neuroi and gained valuable experience in the harsh conditions of the eastern theater. In mid-1941, she was assigned to the Eismeer Arctic convoy operations, defending vital Allied supply lines against Neuroi attacks and helping protect the transport routes that kept the front supplied. Her performance in these operations established her reputation as a capable and experienced elite witch. In September 1941, Schuck was transferred to the 502nd Joint Fighter Wing, where she continued her service alongside witches other experienced mages along with making friends with a Baltland mage named Heglund defending humanity against the Neuroi threat. Her experience on the Eastern Front and in the Arctic made her a valuable addition to the unit, bringing knowledge of both conventional combat operations and the challenges of defending strategically important supply routes.

Waltraud Schuck is a shy, soft-spoken, and somewhat nervous Karlsland mage who can be hesitant around unfamiliar people despite being an elite combatant. Although she sometimes lacks confidence in social situations, her military training and battlefield experience have taught her to remain dependable when others need her. Having fought on the Eastern Front in early 1941 and later defended vital supply lines during the Eismeer Arctic convoy operations, Waltraud has proven herself capable under pressure. Waltraud shares a close friendship with Solveig Heglund, a fellow mage whom she trusts and feels comfortable around. Their friendship allows her to relax and show a more open side of her personality. She is deeply loyal to those she considers friends and worries about their safety, sometimes putting their needs ahead of her own. After transferring to the 502nd Joint Fighter Wing in September 1941, Waltraud must adjust to her new comrades and the challenges of serving alongside witches. She gradually becomes more comfortable with witches such as Aleksandra I. Pokryshkin, Nikka Edvardine Katajainen, and Waltraud Krupinski, learning to trust their abilities and work alongside them. Though naturally reserved and occasionally anxious, Waltraud is a courageous mage who can overcome her fears when the people she cares about are in danger.

Ability: Boreas Surge – Waltraud channels magical energy into surrounding wind currents, amplifying their force to unleash powerful gusts and concentrated air-pressure blasts. She combines this ability with enhanced aerial maneuverability, defensive wind barriers, and energy-charged attacks, allowing her to disrupt Neuroi formations, deflect incoming projectiles, and strike enemies with sudden bursts of wind from unexpected angles.
