In Season 4, it was established that in the Upside Down, you can hear people talking in the real world—like when Steve hears Dustin. It feels like this rule has been completely abandoned. In Season 5, we never see this phenomenon; for instance, in episodes 2 and 3, when Hopper and Eleven are moving through the Upside Down, they don’t hear a thing. Logically, especially in episode 3—which takes place during the day—they should constantly hear people talking as they pass by in the real world. Furthermore, the military, which has been occupying the Upside Down for a year and a half, surely would have noticed this phenomenon very quickly. If Sullivan had been clever, he could have realized that the Byers knew Eleven—given that she lived with them in California—and that it was no coincidence they returned to Hawkins just as Eleven was spotted there. He could have even used this property of the Upside Down to spy on the Wheelers’ home from the "Upside Down version" of it, listening to see if Mike or his family mentioned Eleven and revealed her location. Another example: in the flashback where Vecna captures Will in the library, this rule suggests we should hear ambient noise—like the librarian speaking in the real world, for instance.
Following this logic, the Upside Down should actually be a fairly noisy place; since you can hear what’s happening on the other side, you ought to be able to hear not just voices, but also the sounds of cars driving by—essentially, the sounds of a living, bustling town.
Does this rule work differently—am I completely wrong and missing the point? Or have they simply set this rule aside?

It feels like yesterday I watched them, it was a different feeling I can't explain, i feel like I'm in a different world when I watched them. I don't know how to explain....

While I was one that didn't mind how the original series ended with its final season, there was just no denying that this really reinvigorated the franchise more then I would've ever expected it to. I was rather lukewarm with the show when that first season came out earlier this year, especially But while I was a bit weirded out with the rather short length of time it took for the second season to come out, it was all the more worth the wait, especially after having watched it nightly in this latter half of October.
While it took place on Valentines Day, this really felt like something that was so dang befitting for the halloween season, especially with how much of a darker tone it took in comparison to the first season. Heck by the latter half I was really getting enthralled with the season as it went on too. With the added sense of mystery brought into this here, it really had you curious with how things were going to end. It was even here where the choice of making this an animated series really let this shinemore than the original series did too. While I was still iffy on the choice of it being a mostly modern CG series instead of a 2D one in the style of said 80s shows back when the first season was revealed, this second season really allowed the kids go all out with the added agility given to them, especially as they were going up against the big bad for this one during the second half. I also felt like it really escalated the fight scenes in a lot of it to where it makes the lot of them feel more packed and epic at times as well. Though I do admit the toned down language can be pretty dang noticeable in comparison as you can tell that the writers wanted a lot of these younger ones to swear a lot more often.
Nikki herself has really grown on me more than I expected her to as well. She may had been one of those sorts of OCs you'd expect to see in one of those games that shoehorn them in like in many anime games these days, but for what it's worth, she really pulled her weight more than expected to where she really became a lot more of a character that had a point existing overall. Not sure how the heck she fits into the rest of the canon of the whole timeline though since she's never mentioned at all in the original series.
Overall, while I'm one to not hate on the original show's final season, seeing this really makes it feel like said show would've fared better had it been remade as an animated series instead. At least almost.
Though on the other hand, it does really have me wishing that Telltale game was revived so it would go full circle overall here.

Growing up I'd always hear my friends talk about Stranger Things. I never got into it. I even used to hate on it for no reason. I'd say "I'm NEVER watching Stranger Things" And honestly I think the deal breaker for me was Eddie.. I had it on my watch list for a good amount of time however, but I only started watching in early September. I binged it so hard. I was on season 3 within less than a week. Then school started and I stopped for a while. But last weekend, I finished it. The credits rolled, and honestly the credits is one of my favorite parts, its just so perfect. Then I thought about how amazing it would have been to experience the anticipation of the Christmas and New years releases and all the theories and stuff. I really wish I'd watched it sooner. I'll definitely rewatch.

If, hypothetically, given that they now own the IP, Netflix decide to make a sequel series in the next few years, with at least some of the cast as adults, using the obvious hook of what happened to Eleven as a starting point, they would probably set it in the 90's, as any later is likely too long a time gap.
Writing as a child of the 90's, I can easily imagine what they could tap into in terms of world events, pop culture, technology and music.
World Events - the Cold War finally ends in 1991, removing the main political/military need for the Hawkins Lab experiments, and turning them into political/legal liabilities in a short space of time. For fear of the consequences, the US Government is likely to move into full cover-up (at any cost) mode so that what happened never becomes public.
Pop Culture - in 1993, The X-Files premieres on Fox, and its resulting huge popularity makes the whole idea that the US Government is involved in conspiracies/experiments like those in Hawkins very popular among the US public. This would surely make the stories about the Lab, such as Barb's controversial death and Terry Ives' lawsuits about her daughter's abduction by Brenner, generate more and more interest in it, as happened in real life regarding the top-secret USAF base at Groom Lake, NV (Area 51). This could easily make covering up the experiments harder as the interest grows.
Technology - in 1994, 4 years after it is invented at CERN by Tim Berners-Lee (whose World Wide Web software finally makes it possible), the Internet is opened-up for full public use, worldwide. No other development of the 90's will have as much of an impact as this, because it makes the world smaller. Any kind of information that can be digitized - text, pictures, audio, video - can, for the first time, be transmitted anywhere in the world very quickly. For example, El, if she gained access to it, could use it to try and trace the Hawkins Party's whereabouts without using the Void. All she would have to do is type their names into a search engine, and see what it found. Digital cameras and cell phones also become a much bigger part of everyday life, and these could have a major impact on the show's plot and vibe.
Urban explorers, who would surely make the abandoned Hawkins Lab a target given its reputation, and interest in US Government conspiracies in the the wake of The X-Files' popularity, are also a result of the arrival of the internet. Websites devoted to this are set-up, where people can post "trip reports" on particular locations, containing detailed site information, photos, plans etc. One such site which dates from this era is "28-Days Later," which takes its name from the movie but has no other connection to it. Because such information is then available worldwide through the Internet, interest in sites like the Hawkins Lab will only grow as a result, making the cover-up even harder.
Music- the 90's has one of the most varied music scenes of any era. Grunge arrives, alongside bands like Metallica, Oasis, The Verve, Velvet Chain, Cibo Matto, to name only a small few(!). The often darker, edgier, more grounded sounds which so many 90's bands/musicians have gives the decade a very different vibe to the 80's, and a 90's set Stranger Things could have huge fun tapping into this. Shows which used music in a very visible way, such as my all-time 90's favourite Buffy The Vampire Slayer (which had a truly awesome soundtrack, especially in its early seasons), could also be openly referenced, which would further enhance the 90's setting of the show.
What do you think? What else could a 90's set ST sequel series draw-on from that decade?

Hi everyone,
After reading a few of the longer post-season 5 fics focusing on Mike reuniting with Eleven, I decided to write my own. As my post history will give away, I'm an attorney. A big factor in deciding to undertake this was a desire to write without the shackles imposed by legal writing. It's been really refreshing, like rediscovering a part of myself that was buried by circumstance.
This is intended to be a more realistic take on Mike and Eleven's experiences after the events of Season 5. I'm not skipping to the happy reunion (or the reunion at all). We will see how they hurt and try to adapt before they reunite. There are no cheap explanations or hand-waves for things. I have planned the story out extensively, but my writing time is limited as a lawyer and a dad. I am posting the story now in hopes that feedback will help me prioritize my writing. What I've received so far has been wonderfully motivating.
My aim is to make their life after the reunion feel earned, and for the characters' feelings and behavior to feel familiar and understandable under the circumstances. I'm not writing a fairy tale, and this isn't a comfort piece. I want the outcome to be rewarding based on the journey.
I hope you will give the first two chapters a try and let me know what you think. Chapter 3 is well underway. Link is above.

My 8 year old daughter wanted to be a Demogorgon for Halloween this year, so I spent the last couple weeks making these costumes. Heads are made out of EVA foam, fabric, and paint. Bought the body suits and hand painted the muscles on mine/printed and transferred with infusible ink on hers. Sewed the hands and stuffed with pillow stuffing to add shape and made the claws out of felt (added red rhinestone blood to mine). For the pictures, we got up at 6am to drive to a pond that had morning fog. Pretty happy with how they turned out!

Hey there. Sharing a quick video walkthrough of my Halloween theme this year, none other than Stranger things :) I switch up my theme every year, but this year I finally pulled the trigger on the theme I’ve always wanted to do. Not shown are some of the effects I’ll have on Halloween night like lightning and thunder, stage lighting, music and a demogorgon, but you get the idea lol. If you’re interested in seeing detailed photos or more videos, happy to share. Happy Halloween everyone! 🎃

It’s been a year since season 5 came out and we haven’t gotten any bloopers or anything. Was the season that horrible that they couldn’t even release bloopers?

Season 4 was truly a masterclass in balancing the ensemble cast, multiple plot points and perspectives, while still keeping the emotional weight and making the storyline so compelling

I just finished watching the series with my son (this is his second time going through the series). Many holes and questions, but I keep telling myself it's a show geared towards my kid (IMO). So, we were wondering -
I read just a little bit about the Abyss Stone, Philadelphia Experiment, etc. Still want to know more about it However, one thing - the scientist that Henry killed - how did he know that the stone was going to consume him? I know not literally, but how did he know that unless someone else was "infected" by the stone.
And, as I understand it, the Upside World was the worm hole - that Eleven created - but, wasn't Dr Brenner studying it in his lab and how did the ship from the Philadelphia experiment go to the Upside Down world? I just read about it on Reddit.
Thanks

Hey guys, so Halloween weekend is approaching and though I don't go to celebrate, I am re-watching S1-4 again starting tonight-sunday. Right now I'm re-watching season one and it just hit me that I think had Nancy left with Barbara when she was trying to get her to go home i think Barbara would've still been alive.

Wanted to get some perspective from non-sports card collectors on the mathematical pull odds here.
With 100 cards in the base checklist and Eleven Blue parallels numbered to /11 being case-hit tier, what are the actual statistical odds of hitting a specific character's 01/11 bookend out of sealed wax?
I recently had this Card #91 Vecna "You Will Break" (01/11) graded with CGC and locked in a Mint 9 (Top Pop 1|0). Would love to hear from anyone who opened Zerocool ST4 cases on how rare these specific villain /11 pulls actually were!"
(Not for sale)

… I feel like we got nothing of that charisma the way his character was written and directed in the later seasons of ST which is a pity because that charisma was still there as was obvious with how the epilogue narrative depended on him all alone and he nailed it.

What do you think of her throughout the show? On first watch and rewatch. Her character development, storylines, trauma, insecurities, actions and choices, relationships, guilt, being a leader, etc. Her strengths and flaws, best and worst moments/seasons. Who she is as a leader, woman, friend, girlfriend, sister, daughter, and character with complex feelings.
