Jag har fått en svenska talande jobb och känner att jag behöver förbättra min svenska inan jag börjar jobba där. De gjorde intervjuerna på svenska och är nöjd, men det känns som att det ska gå till helvete för mig om jag inte pratar/skriver svenska till jag börjar där.

I’m Kacper, 29, originally from Poland. I’ve been living in Sweden for almost 4 years now, and while I love it here, I’m struggling a bit to find friends living close by in the Nacka area (Saltsjö-Boo side, to be exact).

A bit about me and what I’m into:

* Sports & staying active: I love pretty much any sport. I hit the gym 3 times a week, go for a run from time to time, and I’m a big fan of both football and basketball (always up for playing a pick-up game or watching a match together). My partner and I also started taking salsa & bachata classes recently and go whenever we can.

* Books & good talks: I read a bit of everything – crime fiction, thrillers, philosophy, self-development, and general fiction. I really enjoy good discussions about different perspectives, philosophy, politics, etc.

* Travel & outdoors: I’ve visited about half of the countries in Europe so far, and later this year I’m finally heading outside of Europe for the first time (US & South America!). Locally, I’m always down for a trail walk around Nacka.

* Music & other stuff: I love music – spent 7 years in music school and sang in a university choir back in my student days. Outside of that, I enjoy cooking, playing some Football Manager or NBA 2K, and hanging out with my two cats.

By day, I work as an Engineer at a big company, and I’m somewhere on the ADHD spectrum (which might already be obvious from the mix of hobbies in this post 😅).

I also want to explore Stockholm more. I've visited many churches lately and want to continue doing so. I like walks in nature & the city. The city in autumn/winter when everything is lit up outside is great. Walking around the water when it's late at night is indescribably wonderful for me.

Regarding politics, I'm more conservative than progressive in some issues. I never discuss politics with strangers or people I've recently met, but I want to be clear about my stance, as politics is a dealbreaker for many.

I like to discuss religion, philosophy, urban exploration, folklore, urban legends, Christianity, Buddhism, UFOs/aliens, Astral Projection/Gateway Tapes, esotericism, TV series, horror movies, dreams, conspiracy theories, and music. I dislike smalltalk about the weather etc; I find it boring and useless. I speak Swedish, English, and Spanish.

I’ve got a week off coming up and no real plans on the horizon, so I figured it’s a good opportunity to invest some time in meeting new people and hopefully making a few friends around the city!
I’m 28, originally from India, and spent quite a few years in NYC before moving to Stockholm. I’m into good coffee, chess, badminton, trekking (mountains over beaches, always), board games, watching sports, and random rabbit holes about history and geography.

Around 13 of us showed up today, and honestly, it was so much fun. The conversations, the games, seeing people get along and find things in common with complete strangers… I loved it!!

I probably yapped the most srry (as expected lol), but I really hope everyone had as good a time as I did. Everyone was lovely, respectful (which im so greatful for) nobody felt pressured to drink (as it should be), and everything went so smoothly (especaially with communication on what time/where we will meet). I couldn’t have asked for a better first meetup.

Humans are social creatures. We have so much to share and so many ways to connect, and sometimes all it takes is getting a bunch of strangers in the same room. It’s genuinely so nice seeing that happen in real life.
