Discussion Spawn collecting tips

So I've read Spawn up issue 31 in compendium volume 1. But I wanna start collecting single issues. What are some cool singles issues would you all recommend to collect? I'd probably start with Issue 1 and hang that on the wall. Maybe ones that have a cool cover that have a bit of value to them.

There's a black white and red King Spawn that's awesome. I think it's like issue 9.

I went the deluxe origins route. They are BY FAR the best built, looking, and reading experience, for me of course. They go up to vol 8 with 25 issues in each volume. Vol 9 comes out next year which brings it up to issue #225 collected in deluxe format. I’ve heard a lot of single issues get pretty expensive and hard to find.

You can find a lot for super cheap. But there’s also a stack of issues that are low print so expensive and some really expensive key issues

I’ve found a few that were low print and were still inexpensive.

Okay. Here's a suggestion because i am somewhat close to you.

I have about 96 issues of spawn.

0-100 tend to be the cheapest because rhe print runs were so high, hence people always saying to collect 100-300, because the print runs started to drop.

200-300 is some of the more average pricier stuff, with some important keys splashed 100-200.

I'd recommend: start aiming for VF/NM copies, non newstand 0-100. That way you'll never have to upgrade rhe raw copies.

I try to splash a 100-300 for every handful of 1-100 issues.

Newsstand copies come later. Or if budget is not an issue, go for newstand.

Ilikecollectibles on whatnot strictly does one large show a week of ONLY SPAWN. He has full runs way more often than you think. And you can get some amazing deals when the "chat" is sleepy or doesn't need the run.
