First project is a go!

It's likely that a couple of things could be slightly better, but we're amazed that we were able to do this grid-tied project ourselves for ~$1.20/W. The power company set our net meter today and we're up and running. Thanks to everyone in this sub who we learned from. We plan to build it out further next year depending on PV gear prices.

for you folks with 3k of panels or more, how many good days of solar do you get in a week this time of year, and what do you consider a good amount of kwh for your system?

i finaly have good tracking on my newest build, long story i have closer to 15kw, but for a bit of a test, i am laying them completely flat minus a slight angle for rain to run off, so mathematically, i have about 6kw of panels ground mounted on this system, for this time of year.

in the last 2 weeks my peak day has been about 24kwh, my lowest has been about 2kwh on a rainy day, its been overcast for the past week and i get about 10 to 12kwh when its like that, which isnt too bad imo

just curious what others are getting vs their size in watts, i assume most of us are in north america, but i know people from around the world come here, so it would be cool to see their numbers too

Difference between these 2 Ecoworthy 48V 314Ah batteries?

I just saw this sale on Ebay for this Ecoworthy 314 Ah battery. Yes that i the price before tax.

f

Does anyone know the difference between this battery and the "powermega" 48V 314 Ah batery they sell on their website for $2399? It seems like the above battery is the previous model they are closingout on. Here is a picture of the powermega, they are definitely different.

Which Hybrid Inverter and Battery Storage System for 18.43 kWp with Home Assistant Integration?

Hi everyone,

We are currently planning the installation of a PV system.

We will be using 38 × AIKO A485-MCE54Db Neostar 3S+54 modules (485 W each) – 18 modules in one string on the south-facing roof and 20 modules in one string on the north-facing roof.

I'm still trying to get my head around the inverter and battery storage options. My requirements are as follows:

  • Home Assistant integration
  • A low-voltage battery storage system (48 V) to keep costs down, as the budget is limited
  • Backup power capability
  • The ability to activate loads such as the heat pump's immersion heater when there is excess PV power
  • Nice to have: the option to connect one or two plug-in balcony solar systems as well

Do you have any recommendations for an inverter that would meet these requirements, and which battery storage system would you pair it with?

After doing quite a bit of research, I've narrowed it down to two candidates:

  • Deye SUN-20K-SG05LP3-EU-SM2 (20 kW)
  • Hoymiles HIT-20L-G3S Hybrid (20 kW)

I'd appreciate any feedback or recommendations!

New 12V 280Ah LiFePO4 stuck in standby. Called tech support and they said i need to charge it at exactly 12.4v 20a for 2-10hrs and it might come back to life.. I'm on the road, how?!

I'm having a problem with my Eco-worthy 12V 280Ah LiFePO4 Bluetooth battery and it's utterly ruining our trip right now. I've spent the first two days of it in a car park crawling around checking every part of the electrical system, but everything gives the values expected.

The battery app is permanently showing Standby, 98%, 0 A and 0 W. In two full days of testing and running differently loads from different places, these values haven't changed at all in the app. I have power but only when the sun is on the solar panels. Cover them and everything goes black, so nothing everything or night.

The model is Eco-LFP1228002

I found another owner who had the same issue and fixed it by getting into advanced settings in the app and turning charge and discharge off, waiting 10secs, then turning it back on. Didn't work for me though.

Any ideas how to get this brand new battery working?

Is this a software bug that could be updated so it doesn't happen again?

Any ideas where you might find a consistent charge at 12v 20a for 10hrs in Portugal?

Wiring Batteries 2s2p

I have four 24v batteries that are set up as a 48v battery bank. They are set up 2s2p and two of the batteries seem to be carrying more of the work than the other two. Does anyone have a diagram of how to wire these batteries to a charge controller in a way that balances the charging/load in the battery bank?

Looking for opinions I’m wanting to run complete off grid setup.

I will be in a 5th wheel for a few years while I build my house but want to use same system for both. Have 2 a/c on camper and it gets hot in Tx Would like to start with enough to power camper during summer. Think that will be my most power usage. Was looking at 2 16KWH batteries and two 6K inverters Not sure how many panels I’d need. Space isn’t an issue. Looking for suggestions

Question about balancing non-Pecron batteries with Pecron power station

SBAR

Pecron F3000LFP 12.8V non-Pecron lifepo4 200ah x 4 in 4S connected to expansion battery port of pecron power station

Non pecron expansion batteries fully charged before connecting in series, always reading a little higher voltage than internal pecti pecron battery

Eg: Pecron main pack at 53.6V while expansion batteries are 54.1V

is this ok? I thought they would both read the exact same voltage.

I need some guidance

I wish to deploy a roof solar system with the option for batteries. But Prior to me buying what ever I see I would like to consult with someone. I am comfortable installing everything my self, I just wish to make the right choices. This is where I need some help.

I continue to lean on this deployment, Going 100% off-grid tomorrow! : r/SolarDIY am an considering just going with what he has.

More information about my self. I live in Saginaw Texas in the DFW area. I am in a HOA subdivision and others already have solar. I am hoping to get everything installed this winter. I am trending to use about 3000kwh a month next summer. My primary goal is to put as much solar as possible given the square footage of my roof and the inverter chosen. regrettably, or not I do not know, my roof is half east and half west facing.

This is where I am, I want to pick the solar panels, inverter, automatic disconnect, and required mounts and wires for the build in the next 2 months so I can order everything and install int January or February.

Recommendations welcome, and if you are a professional designer/installer please dm me.

PS, My budget is around 10-20k depending on batteries, and again custom install.
