Made my 1st sling today.

I followed along with this Instagram video. It is a 5.5in pouch, 24 in in total. I did rienforce the cracker side with more 550 to reinforce wear points but I dont know how necessary that was. I practiced for about 10 mins today side arm and overhand or "figure 8". Shoulder is sore but launched quite a few walnuts into orbit.

if anyone wants to make a sling quickly that lasts for over a month and shoots well.
(beginner friendly, easy to make and almost everyone has these items readily available)

Dirt cheap. I was curious. Here's what I got, for those curious: (actually seems quite serviceable!) haven't thrown with it yet

I feel some soreness and discomfort in my elbow after slinging but I can't identify what I'm doing wrong. Are my mechanics off or do I need to condition my arm better? I mostly throw for distance so I think I might be overexerting myself.

Clan of the cave bear rapid stone technique

So I grew up using a slingshot as I'm Abenaki and it was one of our tribes hunting tools for small game. I wanted to learn from my great grandmother. Any way Recently I was reading The Clan of the cave bear book one of the children of earth series. Alia the MC learns to quickly load a second stone after launching the first. Rapidly. Is this something that can be done in real life. I believe she does it on the downward swing. I have not seen the movie in many many years and am unsure if it was shown in it or not. Has anyone herd of this before?

I made a basic 3 strand pouch sling yesterday, my kiddo and I had so much fun that I figured I would try to make some nicer ones today

This is way more fun than I expected. (I had pretty high expectations)

Store bought sling

Best store bought sling for a newbie. I've always loved slingshots and made them as a kid and adult. I never knew these were so powerful till I recently saw some videos and let's just say I'm in love lol. The biggest downside to slingshots is the life of the bands. I've seen people still using these slings for years. That's awesome and I really want to get into it but don't wanna over pay or get a crappy one and it turn me off from the sport.

So I figured what better place to ask than a page of pure enthusiasts. I don't mind buying once cry once slings if it's worth it. I use to be a pitcher in highschool so I'd say I'm a pretty fast accurate thrower. I'm not sure if this comes into play but I'm 6'4 190lbs. I'm looking for something fast, accurate and will last awhile. I've been reading some posts here in my search about making your own but I think I'd rather skip that for my first and buy a premade one to figure it out then make my own.

1st Sling

Greetings. I made a sling yesterday from paracord. The pocket is too small when I tested it at the dog park this morning. Would it be OK to unravel and remake the basket or should I just make a new one? I only tested balls, should I go by the creek and test out rocks? I can make another for the rubber/tennis balls for at the park.

Staff Sling

I have long theorised that a staff sling should outperform a shepherd’s sling. Almost all videos I have seen use heavy rough looking staffs with low velocity. But I have seen a single hander with a shaft that looked like it came from a golf club and it performed very well. Has anyone experimented on these lines?

Ello, somewhat recently i’ve become interested in slinging (although i am still very bad) and recently tried to make a better sling (leaþer pouch and braided linen then waxed). Could anyone tell me if this is actually a good sling and if i could make any improvements to it?

Warm Ups for Slinging

After reading some posts about shoulder pain, though I would recommend a pre-sling warm-up routine (kind of has a nice alteration), You can do most anything, the idea is to have some rotational torso and shoulder movement. Here is a link to my personal website, demonstrating part of a stick routine that use for archery and slings. Scroll down until you see "Melammed" and click on the vid. Make up your own and have some fun

Who dis? I am getting better at production and use of slings. This is my latest sling following mostly Neadrthals design. "R4" she looses true and handles larger rocks well.

Bought 10lb block of red clay on sale from Michael's for 10 usd.

Mixed at roughly 1:5ish with dirt from the ground and a few cups of water.

Mixed and shaped by hand, drying in the sun.

The pictured amount is roughly 25% of the clay used. About 2.5lbs to 12ish lbs of dirt.

The other ammo I use are river rocks purchased from menards painted with a home made UV flourescent dye made from tonic water and cumin. Can share photos of those too.

Found a roll of jute or hemp in the floorboard of the truck at work today. Made a rough draft for the one ill have for Halloween. My coworker laughs at me for getting excited every time I find some string or rope lying around. Its loose but I just churned it out in 40ish minutes count8ng a delivery in the middle of it.

What style is this called cause its near effortless to huck tennis balls with it. I like split over pouches for stones but this is a very happy medium. Made with the finest worst materials haha

First sling 550 Paracord

Greetings. I am going to start making a shepherds sling because I like the woven basket style. I don't want it to bee too thick, I was thinking of the woven finger holes then use the 4 strands and round braid them to the pouch. From the other side of the pouch I want to transition to 2 strings so it can taper down thinner for the release end. I could even remove some innards from the release end if needed. Does this sound feasible?
