CIA can remotely wipe and write to VHS tapes using 5th dimensional VCRs - you stick the master tape in and it comes out instantaneously from the other side with whatever you intended it to do last friday.

Yeah that needs to be outlawed asap, there's already some in my area showing the candidate the ads against doing things they never did and being criticized for it, it's so stupid. And there's far too many who just either won't be able to tell or won't care and will be influenced by it. If democracy wasn't already dead since it's owned outright by capital this would def kill it.

u/Available-Bid-1006 6d ago
My mom called me in a frantic way the other day telling me to see this thing on Facebook of a huge accident that happened in our city. (Someone posted a dash cam footage of a car speeding through a red light and hitting another car, then police automatically showed up with EMS etc)
Ive had this conversation with her before, don't believe everything you see on the internet but this video was pretty crazy real. If the cops didn't show up so quickly it would of had me fooled.
Edit.. I am looking forward to adaptations of video games/AI made into movies/short skits. Someone posted one of combat footage but it was in the game Red Alert. Looked fantastic.

“Peter Thiel” is an anagram for “the reptile”.
47
u/PrimeToro 7d ago
That is weird to discover considering that Peter Thiel doesn't seem to want the human race to survive from this interview: https://www.youtube.com/shorts/Xg6deHyHKKs
Thiel was asked a basic question: " You would prefer the human race to endure, right ?" And Thiel had a long hesitation ( instead of immediately saying "yes" or "of course". ). A normal human would have answered that quickly and probably would have been annoyed with the question, but Thiel had unbelievable trouble in answering it.
Then he was asked a similar question and was a rephrasing of the first question: " Should the human race survive ?" ( and that fool still hesitated and begrudgingly answered "uh, yeah" )
There is something wrong with that creature.

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, AI using the likeness of real people, voices, appearances, anything, should be illegal.
I don’t care who it is being used towards, if it’s positive or negative, it needs to be illegal.
When we live in a world where our own eyes can’t be trusted, and when one of the only things that can prove something took place, is video, having something at the fingertips of everyone that can just completely spit out whatever fake BS out that is virtually undetectable to the human eye, is incredibly fucked up, and just needs to be banned.
No amount of regulating or stopgaps will stop people from using AI to make fucked up videos using real people, so the only solution is just to ban it, and make it illegal.
EDIT, holy fuck, y’all, I was looking at boobs and came back to see I had 12 responses to this.

Also the evil Ai companies are actually begging for regulations. Why? So they can force everyone to have to upload their real government id and tie it to everything they do online. More stalking and tracking brought to you by "protect the kids!!!"

u/Entire-Grab2429 7d ago
Here's the reason we're getting AI with zero regulations; AI is the perfect tool for fascists. That's all, that's the reason. If we can't agree on reality, how can we possibly agree socially/politicly?
46
u/Nah-No-Nope 7d ago
Plausible deniability too.
5
u/Ecstatic-Shop4533 7d ago
They're absolutely "saving" crying foul on all this for when its maximally useful.
8
u/BettingOnSuccess 7d ago
The actual reason is even if you regulate american AI or EU AI, there is still open source AI that is doing quite well and you can't regulate open source.
3
u/manbrasucks 7d ago
Or even other countries. If usa puts any amount of red tape on ai and china doesn't, then china will have a lead and win the AIrms race.

GOP tried to put in a ban on AI regulation for 10 fucking years in the BBB last year. Republicans want this shit to spread cause they know how stupid people are.
8
u/AndISoundLikeThis 6d ago
Here in Pennsylvania, the psycho GOP candidate for governor is running an AI ad against the incumbent Dem, Josh Shapiro using his likeness and voice where "he" spouts a number. imaginary personal offenses. It took me about 5 seconds into. ad to recognize it as a deep fake. I don't doubt that many people will assume it's real.
2
u/FriendlyEvilTomato 6d ago
I’ve been saying this for two years. I truly believe that is the reason it’s not currently regulated.
3
31
u/TheJohnnyFlash 7d ago
How do you enforce that tho?
46
u/No-Significance2113 7d ago
You don't need to enforce it, you just make laws around it so that people who abuse it can actually be punished. It took way to long for revenge porn laws to catch up after it ruined a lot of peoples lives.
→ More replies (14)→ More replies (10)29
u/oliver_hart28 7d ago
You enforce it against companies who allow it to be posted. They are best positioned to make algorithms to filter this stuff out, and they have a financial incentive to comply. They are also easier targets for the government to prosecute than some nameless dipshit like u/oliver_hart.

Even if it could be made illegal, it wouldn’t stop it happening. Even if you could somehow make it illegal in every part of the world.
This technology is here now and it’s improving continuously.
We’re already getting to the point where digital photo and videos cannot be admissible in a court.
At some point, there’s likely to be more AI generated content and bots posing as humans in our feeds than actual human made… shit we could even be there already… the problem is I keep assuming every post and comment is from a person, no matter how much I remind myself.→ More replies (16)34

Killing, rape and robbing is also illegal. If it wasn't, it would be far more frequent. Making sonething illegal doesn't stop it from happening but it reduces it by alot

Honestly this sucks. The data center by me in GA has turned tap water brown for some people, for me my water pressure has decreased and my water is foggy. I have had a few days with no water, shut off with no warning and no communication of when it would be back on.
I guess I’m just thankful I can still wash dishes with it but I am buying bottled water for drinking, cooking, my cats, and washing fruits and veggies.
I guess people won’t care until it starts affecting them. I’ll be stocking up on water

As much as it sucks, buy 5 gallon jugs and a dispenser like this instead. So much cheaper than single bottles of water. After you buy a jug or a couple if use a lot, you can refill the jugs at almost any Walmart. Not a fix to the problem, but it will definitely help your wallet over time.
