Full Mario 64 in Mixed Reality! Running in real 3D natively at 90FPS and also running on my desk! šŸ˜‹
Opus 5.5 + PICO CLI + Unity CLI combo made it quite straightforward.

Such a bliss to play an oldie at 90 FPS in 3D.

Disclaimer: I own an original physical copy of Mario 64. This project is not associated with Nintendo or PICO.

I accidentally became a dog grooming software company

i accidentally became a dog grooming software company

Back in march my cousin who runs a grooming van asked if i could make her something better than the paper calendar she kept in the glovebox. I built it in lovable over 2 weekends, mostly to stop her texting me screenshots of double bookings

She showed it to 3 other groomers at some trade thing. Then those showed it to more. I never posted it anywhere and didnt have a landing page until july when someone asked where to sign up

Now its 140 groomers, 23 pay $19 a month, and i get feature requests like im a real company. Invoicing, SMS reminders, a field for which dogs bite. One lady wants it to work offline becouse she grooms in a barn with no signal

I have no roadmap. I have a notes app with 60 requests and a day job

Last week someone asked for my company phone number. I gave her my cell and then sat there for a while

Anyone else building a boring, non-AI project right now?

Every time I scroll this sub, it feels like everyone is shipping AI wrappers in a weekend.
Meanwhile, I’m over here building a niche site the slow, old-school way. No big Stripe screenshots to flex yet, just late nights and Notion docs. If you're working on something outside the SaaS/AI bubble, what are you building? Would love to see what the rest of us are up to!

9 months, 10K+ Android installs, 0 spent on marketing, and 250 earned. The reality of indie app development.

About 9 months ago, I launched my Android app, and it has finally crossed 10K installs.

Here are the numbers so far:

  • 10.2K total installs
  • $250 total revenue
  • $0 spent on paid marketing
  • 9 months since launch
  • Android only

I know $250 in 9 months isn't a huge amount, especially compared to the success stories we usually see here. But reaching 10K installs without spending anything on advertising feels like a pretty good milestone.

The growth has been gradual rather than a sudden viral spike.

One thing I've learned is that getting downloads and actually making money from an app are two very different challenges.

I'm sharing this because we often see posts about apps making thousands of dollars a month, but not much about the smaller, more realistic journeys of indie developers.

For those who have grown Android apps organically, what would you focus on next: getting more users or improving monetization?

Founders, assemble.

What's the smallest win that has completely changed your motivation?

Yesterday, I got 2 new organic users.

Objectively, that's not a huge number.

But I happened to be at one of those points where I was questioning whether I should keep building at all.

Seeing two real people sign up, explore the product, and come back completely changed my mindset.

I went from staring at my screen with zero motivation to spending the rest of the day building.

It's funny how one or two genuine users can mean more than hundreds of page views or likes.

To anyone building quietly without much traction yet: keep going.

Sometimes all it takes is one person finding value in what you're building to remind you why you started.

"Pointless" bonus backrooms-inspired level I put into my game, because why not?

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

• Upvotes

I’m the solo dev behind Dark Roll 2, a marble platformer heavily inspired by soulslike genre. Apparently, that wasn’t enough scope creep, because something in my brain went: "Backrooms". So I added a Backrooms-inspired bonus level. No objective. No exit. Just a place to wander around.

There are weird photos scattered throughout, sourced from years of random crap on my phone and contributions from friends. Finally,a use for all those pictures I refused to delete.

There’s also a ball pit, a creepy mannequin room, and more. You can’t finish the level, but you can roll over a cushion with remarkable fidelity.

Was this a gut feeling? A creative impulse? The tiny unpaid level designer living in my skull? Hard to say. He doesn’t attend meetings. If this sounds like your sort of nonsense, the level is avalable for free in the demo.

Would you explore something like this, or should someone revoke my access to Unity?

A year ago I started planning a side project to make learning SQL less boring. 5 months after launch: 2,500+ users, ~Ā£2,200 in revenue

About a year ago I started planning QueryCase, where you learn SQL by working detective cases instead of grinding tutorials & videos. It took a while to get off the ground, and longer than I'd like to admit to actually start building the idea, but it finally went live in June. I build it solo and I'm merging PRs most days.

5 months in:

  • 2,500+ people have signed up, across 117 countries
  • 160+ paying customers and ~Ā£2,200 in revenue, on a one-time Ā£14.99 price with regional pricing
  • About 65,000 queries written and graded
  • Over 16,000 cases, drills and exams solved
  • College in US using the platform for training students for CompTIA Data+ Certification
  • Ā£0 spent on ads so far

Where the growth has come from:

Most of it has come from Reddit. My best signup days have all followed update posts in learning subs, and the comments have shaped half the roadmap. I don't like to spam, so I only post when there's something real to share. In between, organic search and Google have kept things ticking over.

The users who stick around and pay are almost all from one niche: people learning data. SQL, Excel, breaking into analytics, switching careers. That's who the product is built for, and it shows in who converts.

Since launch it's grown past just SQL. An Excel course was never part of the plan, but people kept asking for the same detective approach for spreadsheets, so I built it. It has 57 cases on a spreadsheet that runs in the browser, and people have solved over 2,300 of them.

In the next few weeks I'm launching a Python for Data track, with real Python running in the browser, moving from the basics into pandas.

The goal: I have a very ambitious target of 5,000 users before the end of the year, which means doubling in about two months. Reddit alone won't get me there, so I'm weighing up ads for the first time, and this is where I'd love opinions from people who've done it:

For a niche like people learning SQL and Excel, have ads (Reddit, Google, Meta) ever paid off for you on a low-price one-time product, or did they just burn money - and which platforms did you find to be most successful?

If you were in my position, where would you put a small first test budget?

Any other feedback around the site which puts you off would be great as well, cheers!šŸ˜„

I know I saved it somewhere, I just can’t find it. So I built a map for my notes.

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Search only works if you remember what to search for. I often save a link without remembering the site or even the title. In a list, it’s as good as lost. On a map, I remember roughly where I left it.

Same reason I remember what I was thinking when I return to a certain rock on a hike: we remember things through their surroundings, not in a vacuum.

So I built Qoyra, a landscape for your notes. Each project or topic is a peak. Height means detail: broad ideas sit low, specific ones climb higher. Each contour line is a level you can open to browse everything on it.

Just type to create a note, then leave it or move it. Link notes into chains you can scroll through in seconds. To delete one, throw it into the sea.

Browsing the map, I often stumble upon notes I’d forgotten. (And yes, it’s dangerously easy to procrastinate by flying around.)

I use it daily. Works on PC and iPhone. It’s a solo project, so expect some bugs.

šŸ—ŗ Explore the map, no signup required: https://www.qoyra.app/?share=1f9c5acd47f449dcbca5ea922e9d8907

Do you remember old notes by the words, or more by the ā€œwhereā€?

[30 day update] My Codex reset alerts service passed 500 subscribers

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

I recently built a text alerts service to ease my Codex usage anxiety called Reset Alerts.

It texts users when resets are announced (with the idea to burn remaining usage before it refills to 100%).

Some of the tasks / workflows when building this:

  • Set up the text channels: SMS in the US + Canada, Telegram otherwise
  • Backdating: scanned Tibo's tweets since April 2025 (when Codex launched) with the X API to backdate all resets and learn how to detect them
  • Prompting: 18 prompt versions to differentiate between a fresh reset, an update on a previously announced reset, and an automatic vs. banked reset. Using the OpenAI API for this
  • Put together an on-time chart: this was inspired by flight on-time percentages, but instead of flights, we show how often resets are on time
  • A calendar tracker for OpenAI's 28-day reset challenge: (currently 23 of 28 days in, with 11 resets and 24 Codex improvements issued).

The 28-day calendar was the most popular of all the pages - according to Vercel Analytics, it received 14,100 visitors in the past 30 days.

The site is at ResetAlerts.com - I know 500 free subscribers isn't life changing, but it feels great to have some positive momentum every day.

Open to any feedback, and will continue posting more updates as the project develops :)

I built a side project to help me build more side projects

• Upvotes

I built Speck, a workflow that turns my coding agents into a team I can walk away from. I have a young family, so I get 30 minutes to an hour at a time to work on my side projects, and I found I was spending most of it watching my agents work. Now I talk ideas through with my agent for ten minutes, it turns them into small prioritised tickets, and I go and do bedtime. Claude Code builds them, Codex reviews them and argues with Claude until it's right, then they ship with any merge conflicts sorted. I come back to my desk and things are just done.

The process isn't anything new, but getting agents to follow it every time without me watching is the hard part, and that's what Speck does.

It all runs on my own machine with the subscriptions I already pay for, and it works with Claude, Codex and Cursor. It does tasks that aren't coding too, like research. I build and maintain Speck with Speck, with 518 tickets shipped in three weeks.

Free, open source and early, so I'd love some feedback. https://github.com/luroai/speck

built a chrome extension to give ai visual feedback. how do you handle this?

i've been building with claude code, and while it can build a whole page quickly but the output needs a lotttt of tweaking to actually look good. i end up spending so much time trying to explain what's off, and describing visual things in text just doesn't cut it for me.

so i built a chrome extension that lets me show claude what i mean instead of trying to explain it.

it's called moodbit, a visual workspace where you can collect references, point at what you want changed, and give clearer visual context.

if you're building with ai coding tools, i'd love for you to give it a try.

also, i'm curious: how do you currently tell ai what's wrong with your ui? long prompts? screenshots? drawing over things?

I built an app so I wouldn't argue with my girlfriend

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

• Upvotes

A while ago, my girlfriend and I moved in together, and at first, it was total chaos with household chores and the move. We had no routine, and that led to arguments.

Being a good programmer, I started developing an app to fix it. The first version I made (a year ago) was rough, buggy, and had very few features, but we started using it anyway. Over time, and thanks to my girlfriend's help, I kept improving it and adding new features, bringing me to today, where I believe it's at the exact point where I can recommend it to others.

Right now, I'm going through a "marketing" phase, trying to attract users little by little and without rushing all organically.

If you're interested in the app, feel free to comment on the post and I'll gladly answer any questions, suggestions, etc. I'm open to everything.

I built a Catholic study notebook inspired by Zelda: Ocarina of Time

• Upvotes

I'm Catholic and wanted to turn my interest in games, books and anime into a reason to study the faith. So I built Lumen, an open-source, AI-assisted study notebook using your claude or Codex subscriptions.

I wanted to study what we can extract from catholicism from geek media

It gathers Scripture, Catechism passages and Church documents, Saint books. Study mode presents texts and scenes separately: It gives you the documents to study on your own, you make connections, write a hypothesis and discuss it. There's also a direct-answer mode.

The interface supports English and Portuguese. The notebook runs locally. AI can make mistakes, so sources remain available to check.

GitHub: github.com/DiogoSabec/lumen

It helped a lot, and gave me one more sparkle to study on my own, feel free to try it out

10 months ago I turned my grief into a product on this subreddit and a stranger’s DM changed my life. Today I’m one small step from the finish line - and about to lose it all.

10 months ago, I was at the lowest point of my life.

I’d just lost my dad to cancer. Months earlier I lost my job too - for missing one senseless Zoom meeting while I was caretaking. I was struggling just to survive.

But in all of it, I still found the strength to do the one thing I do best: create.

I designed Pandora - a smart lid that turns an ordinary jar into a self-sustaining little world. I built the 3D model in Blender, rendered an animation of it, put up a landing page, and posted it right here on Reddit.

Then 24 hours happened that changed my life.

The post went semi-viral: 100k views, 1k upvotes, around 300 people on the waitlist. And then a DM. Someone (anonymous at the time) asking a simple question: how much would it take to get this Kickstarter-ready? Days later, he and a colleague - at one of the biggest companies in Silicon Valley - wired me the first money.

An autistic no-one from a country most people can’t find on a map got a life-saving investment based on a single Blender animation. A Christmas miracle, basically.

I promised them 4 review prototypes in 2 months. They said, ā€œTake 3, there are always delays.ā€ I started the very next morning.

They were right about the delays. Tariffs, chip shortages, supplier nightmares. 10 months of around-the-clock work. One sandwich a day (we don’t have ramen over here). But I built a dream team along the way, including someone who’s worked on some of the biggest Kickstarter campaigns there are.

And today, I’m holding the first fully working, virtually production-ready Pandora in my hands.

  • A slick machined, brushed and anodized aluminium case (I’m told it’s aluminum, but I’ll keep spelling it the right way šŸ˜„)
  • A gold-plated PCB covered in shamanic symbols (SHMN, read ā€œshamanā€ is our brand name)
  • A bunch of state-of-the-art sensors and actuators
  • A black glass top
  • 4K HDR Sony camera for timelapses
  • And an ML agent inside that keeps whatever lives in the jar alive and thriving

It’s real. It’s not vaporware. People want it.

So here’s the hard part.

The delays burned through the budget. My angels and investors have already extended my runway three times - and I’m endlessly grateful for that. But the money has hit zero again, and I need a four-digit amount for the finishing touches before the marketing push for the Kickstarter. I asked for a 4th extension. They said no. I don’t blame them. It’s fair. It’s on me to deliver this time.

I’m running on fumes. My ISP cut me off over unpaid bills (I’m burning mobile data to write this). My team’s Google Workspace gets disabled in a matter of days. It genuinely feels like a dream I’m about to wake up from - straight back into last December's hell.

I can see the light at the end of the tunnel. I AM at the end of the tunnel. But there’s a thin, invisible, bulletproof wall between me and it. I’m stuck, I’m scared af, and I honestly don’t know what to do next.

So I came back to Reddit - where all of this started. Maybe the Universe gives you one last chance when you’re this close.

I’m linking my original post and photos below as proof it’s all real. If any of this moves you, drop me a line.

Fingers crossed. And thank you for reading.

Sincerely,
Seb

Press ⌄Space in any app, talk, press it again, and your words are pasted where you were typing.

It runs Whisper on your Mac, transcribes while you speak, supports 99 languages, and keeps a local history of everything you dictated. No account, no subscription, no telemetry. MIT licensed, built with Tauri and Rust.

I'd love feedback, especially from people who dictate in languages other than English.

I built OpenProspect, a self-hosted open-source prospecting pipeline for freelancers

• Upvotes

I built OpenProspect to bring lead discovery, website checks, email verification, a CRM, and reply tracking into one self-hosted workflow. It also has a separate job-search track for finding relevant public postings and drafting outreach.

It runs on your own machine/server and keeps lead data local. Outbound campaigns start as drafts; you must add a postal address and explicitly enable sending. Replies and opt-outs stop follow-ups.

The source, setup guide, and responsible-use notes are here: https://github.com/Bhanuteja005/openprospect

I'm looking for feedback from freelancers and small agencies: which part of the setup or workflow would you simplify first?

I set myself a tiny goal: 10 paying customers. I reached it! šŸŽ‰

• Upvotes

A few days ago, I launched a fun little experiment called Undertone - an AI-powered experience that explores what your favourite films, music, books, and shows might reveal about you.

I set myself a tiny milestone: 10 paying customers. No friends, no family, just 10 complete strangers who found it interesting enough to give it a go. And I’m ridiculously happy to share that I’ve reached it! šŸŽ‰

It’s a small number, I know, but seeing people willingly spend their money on something I built, enjoy the experience, and share such lovely feedback has been incredibly rewarding. An unexpected bonus? I’ve also made a few good friends right here on Reddit along the way!

I’m sharing this little milestone to encourage other builders out there. Keep building, put your work out into the world, and celebrate those small wins. You never know what might come of it!

And to everyone who gave Undertone a chance, shared feedback, or simply offered encouragement - thank you! ā¤ļø

been building opennmind for about 4 months. it's an ai workspace for validating startup ideas before you write code. launch is nov 16

the waitlist is past 800 now which sounds good until you remember nobody on it has paid me a single rupee

i've drafted a $12/mo pro plan and i keep not sending the email. part of me thinks if i ask now half of them leave and i find out the 800 was fake

did you ask your waitlist to pay before launch or wait till they actually used it?

also curious if a cheap founding plan worked better for you than a normal price

Sign Ups, but No Action or Anything Stored?

Launched a service recently and i’m getting sign ups, but I find it weird that there is no action with regard to what they are doing or storing. Zero storage used for all users, saving something is essential to the app and a profile so its odd. Is it safe to say these sign ups might be bots?

I turned my Claude Code token usage into a cozy village builder

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

I spend most of my day in Claude Code, and watching the token counter go up felt like wasted dopamine. So I built Token Kingdom: a small plugin counts the tokens of each Claude Code reply and turns them into gold, wood and stone for a 3D village in your browser.

How it works ?

  • You code with Claude as usual, and resources trickle in
  • You spend them on buildings, walls and defenses
  • Monsters raid your village, and your towers fight back
  • Upgrading your town hall unlocks new buildings and spells
  • There are leaderboards, and you can visit friends' villages

Privacy

After each reply, the plugin sends token counts and the model name. It never sends your prompts, replies, code, file names or paths. The plugin is open source: https://github.com/MartySalade/token-kingdom-plugin

Feedback I'd love 🧔

  1. Does it run smoothly on your machine?
  2. Is the progression too slow or too fast?
  3. What's confusing in the first 10 minutes?
