Is there anything I can do to help my mom?
My (38F) sister, Jess, (40F) and her derelict boyfriend, Jose, (50M) are both addicted to fentanyl and meth.
They moved into my mom's home, my childhood home, in the Bay Area over two years ago and have completely taken over the home. They don't pay any rent because neither of them work. My mom (73F, retired teacher), Marcia, recently shared that she has been selling jewelry and instruments to keep the bills paid, but she also told me she supports all three of them on her retirement & pension. She pays for everything. Food, utilities, gas, and yes money for drugs.
My mom is going to lose her home--my childhood home--due to Jess and Jose. Now I found out my sister stole my mom's car and is on the lamb. My mom called the cops, but when they asked if she wants to press charges (she would be convicted of a felony) she said NO. So they can't do anything else for her.
What, if anything, can I do?
I live another state away. I am scared for my mom's financial future, as my shitty sister and her shitty boyfriend squander away what little money my mom has. The home is being left to me in the will, as per my mom's wishes--given how much money she's given my sister over the decades, she felt that was the most fair. But with things going the way they are, that future inheritance may be flushed down the window because my mom cannot seem to grasp that she is part of the problem.
