Do you feel like women snowboarders are judged differently than men?

Hey everyone! So I’m writing an analytical essay for a class about the snowboarding community, and I’ve been thinking about how women snowboarders are perceived, especially on social media and in the park.

Sometimes it feels like appearance and style get brought into the conversation and are an underlying thought about women riders in a way that they don’t seem to be for men. I’m curious if anyone else has noticed this or if your experience has been different. Think about it.

Have you ever felt like you were judged differently because you’re a woman, either online or on the mountain? I’d love to hear your perspectives!

Edit: Thank you to everyone who is sharing their perspectives and experiences! I would like to add that, of course, despite any sexism or negativity, I still do love the community as a whole and its culture. I am just trying to analyze the view of women within the recreational community, as it is not often spoken about! Keep sharing, any POV or story helps me out! I love this subreddit because it gives us a space to share without fear or judgement!
