Also at current timing, when would this be? At what time?

u/DollarAkshay Apr 02 '21 edited Apr 02 '21
Each round is 60 seconds
We will reach round 2000 in 6 hours and 3 minutes.
That would be 2:27 am GMT

I may actually have to play every round until then. Really loving this. Mostly trying to get a top streak (highest of 11 so far). Wish this were an occasional event! Reddit really oughta find a reason to do things like this more often than once a year.

u/Travyplx Apr 03 '21
Yeah, I look forward to April Fools on Reddit alone because of the neat things they do.

This game is addicting but makes me angry, make it a real game please

u/franklai2002 Apr 02 '21
It's not that hard to code, but only reddit or a big site could've pulled it off due to userbase and network effect issues.
In all honesty, it's nice because it's so short and sweet and doesn't overstay its welcome.
Wait for the .io clones though. I'll bet there will be at least one.

The game ran for 33 hours (2000/60), which isn't bad but kind of pretty short. Factions have had some impact but failed to achieve hegemony. Huh.

Not as good as previous events but it was still kinda fun. Thought it would last longer.

Lasted longer than previous events

Hopefully they're not just random images like the other 1999 rounds
4
u/MetalCorrBlimey Apr 02 '21
I hope Round 1999 makes us choose between Prince, The Artist Formerly Known As Prince, and the 'Love Symbol'.

YO WHAT THE HECK IS THIS LAST ROUND
I regret insta-guessing the second I saw the choices.
I'm second-guessing myself.
I've done nothing but stare at a screen every second minute.

u/UmChill Apr 03 '21
i was playing earlier, left, just came back and wanted to play again before the day was over, opened and insta-guessed too, noticed the countdown, then found this post. im sad.

None of the Top 10 have a lead that can be overturned by this final round, so... you are all free!

Won the last round, so proud of us for playing. Wonder what next April Fool’s sub will bring 🥳

I'm at my parents house where the food is plentiful and the internet is sparse. I managed about 4 rounds before the modem said no. Alas!

I hope you guys collected data in between the rounds too; it'd be interesting to see how votes evolve over time. Looking forward to reading the AAR.
Edit: Could you guys release the data publicly afterwards? Thanks

Surely it’s not the second best guesser, but he who needs no sleep and has nothing better to do who will be revealed?

This game is like cocaine. At first, it’s super fun and you’re having a great time. But as the hours pass, you get more and more miserable but you just keep going back for more even though it’s now the opposite of fun. Thank goodness the bag is about to run out hahah

"Random guessing," "strategy," and "instinct."
Picking random guessing cannot be done with random guessing. Strategy and instinct can theoretically be picked with their own options and thus self-eliminating as possible firsts, thus leaving random guessing as the only plausible option. Based on prior logic, this makes all options invalid, which means you can only use random guessing.
That means that random guessing is the only option 50% of the time, and the second option 50% of the time, making it the first most popular choice 100% of the time.
Since it is likely to be first, we shouldn't pick it.
The people who will conclude as such are "intuitives" and "strategists" that will not pick random guessing.
This means random guessing will win second.

I locked in my vote for "Random Guessing" in the final round soon after it started. I use "Instinct" when I play, so I am hoping that its indistinguishable cousin "Random Guessing" will be Second.
I am 4,921st in the leader-board with 109 points. I am the only one in 4,921st place, so I feel special. Not as special as if I was the second one in that place, but I try not to be greedy.
Too bad that there was not more time for people to be able to collaborate. I think it would be nice if the final round was a three-way tie. But, there was not enough time for people to organize.
