Hello!
I moved to the area about a year ago. I enjoy hiking, walking the Greenbelt, trying new restaurants, coffee, patios, traveling, seeing movies, appreciating photography, animals, a little retail therapy now and again, all things Halloween, reading, a good series such as Peaky Blinders, the Lioness, GOT, Animal Kingdom. I am active, reasonably attractive, and take care of myself. I work in healthcare. I am kind but often a little reserved until I am comfortable. I am politically middle of the road.
I am having a hard time meeting new people. I have attended group activities but I always feel old and a lot of attendees are in their mid 20s.
I am looking for best places to meet smart, productive, reasonable, kind people in their 30s and 40s. Any suggestions?
Update: just wanted to thank those that contributed some wonderful ideas. I just checked into some local churches and joined a book club! I’m excited to pursue these new avenues to meet new people.

I am more N. Scottsdale but I have a friend in Mesa who wants to join a book club together. I’m thinking somewhere in S. Scottsdale or even near Talking Stick- close to the 101, may be halfway for each of us to meet. Anyone know of anything in that area? Thanks! (We are both 50s-F).

Hi! I recently moved here. I know the AZ-1 election is not only important hear but nationally as well. Are there any bars or anything that are planning to show election coverage. I know it's nerdy, but it's our country and it is important! I tried google/facebook/instagram and couldn't find anything.

Another good reason to never buy or rent in a HOA.

Preferably in the north Scottsdale area but willing to drive a little further south!

I've been told cell service can be spotty and drivers may be hesitant to come out. Am I risking being stranded if I try this? Or is it just a longer wait than more populated areas? This would be during the day on a Saturday, if that helps

Hey all,
I was honored to the music composer for a cute rom com that takes place in Scottsdale! The film was shot here and all the cast and crew are local to Arizona.
Film has a short one week run (this week) at Harkins Shea 14.
If you want to see a fun, cute film go check it out! A portion of the money from the movie goes to support GIGI's Playhouse, a community that helps with people with Down Syndrome.

I love trying new foods! I'm familiar with the following: Mexican, Italian, Japanese, Chinese, Mediterranean, Taiwanese, Indian, Vietnamese, and Thai.
I'd love to try different cuisines from Africa (I heard Ethiopean and Nigerian are top tier), Jewish delis, Arabic places, etc. If anyone has any recommendations (preferably near-ish Shea and the 101), please let me know! I don't have any particular preference (although, if it matters, I love cheese , don't like carrots or strawberries, and I'm allergic to avocado LOL), I'm willing to try everything.

Needs to be in scottsdale.
Needs to be able to do cosmetic repair.
Explaining why you are recommending them would be great.

Where to find 25-30yo mom friends in Scottsdale?
Have a 14 month old baby boy. Baby boy needs other boy friends around same age.
In need of mom friends and mom walking! If any moms want to start walking with me in North Scottsdale/Kierland/Fashion Square please let me know! We should start a mom walking group.
Have a membership at Jordan’s Corner. Don’t go as much as I should, everytime I’m there I feel like I’m constantly watching my son and having to “protect” him from bigger toddlers. A little girl pushed him, they have some choking hazard toys, seems like it’s more for bigger toddlers.
Tried Modern Milk when baby was younger didn’t meet anyone, seemed all older or not interested in being friends.
Best places to find mom friends?😭

Noticed today a fence around the entire corner of the vacant building next to Postinos on Scottsdale Road across from Optima. That building has been pretty much vacant for the past 10 years. Anyone hear or read anything about what might be done there?

Hypothetically if you had an academically talented but all rounder kid where would you send them to school for middle/high school? Far far north Scottsdale but could travel.
Okay/mediocre at sports and enjoys them all but not specialized in any particular one, does okay at band, choir.
G&T x3 with highest possible score on last year’s 4th grade state testing. Long way to go but eyeing ivies or overseas.
We are not big on homework, prefer smaller classes, C&E episcopals, liberal. Preference for as many extracurriculars to be done at school as possible vs balancing all the stuff outside of school.
Money not an issue (though would prefer to support public schools if possible- also don’t want to make our kids suffer for our beliefs), but transport might be.
Hit me with all the recs or places to avoid. BASIS, great hearts, PCDS, PVUSD, CCUSD, SUSD, NDP, brophy….

As requested, I'll limit my posts to Scottsdale-specific news. No Rio Verde, no Fountain Hills, no unincorporated Northeast Valley news. Just pure, unmitigated Scottsdale.
Being part of the political process is getting dangerous in Scottsdale this election season.
Scottsdale resident Tammy Caputi, who is running on the Democratic ticket for the Legislative District 4 senatorial race, has received two death threats against her and her family within the last week.
Also, a volunteer for Dr. Jennifer Johnson, a Democrat running in what is supposed to be a nonpartisan school board race, was accosted by a man while putting up campaign signs Oct. 15.
Caputi has reported the threats, one of which uses antisemitic rhetoric, to the Scottsdale Police Department.
The police have also reported the situation to the FBI, she said.
A spokeswoman for the police said “detectives are actively following up on investigative leads to help determine the source of the threat(s).”

Hey everyone!
I’m planning to open a high-end cigar and cocktail lounge in Scottsdale and wanted to see if anyone local knows of any good commercial spaces available for lease.
I’m investing over $500,000 into this project, including a full liquor license that I’ve already located for purchase.
The vision is to create one of Scottsdale’s best cigar lounges, featuring a large walk-in humidor, premium cigars, a full cocktail bar, comfortable leather seating, multiple TVs for sports, and excellent ventilation.
What I’m looking for:
2,500–3,500 square feet
Scottsdale, preferably in a nice, busy area
Retail space or an existing bar/lounge
Plenty of parking
Long-term lease (5–10+ years)
A location where indoor cigar smoking and alcohol service can be approved
I’m serious about making this a great destination for locals and visitors, not just another smoke shop.
If anyone knows of available spaces, upcoming vacancies, or commercial landlords/brokers I should contact, I’d really appreciate the recommendations!
Also, what part of Scottsdale would you personally want to see a lounge like this open?
Thanks in advance!

I have WA plates, drivers license and address
Ran red light and got flashed
What happens from here?
Internet says **If you ignore the mail and are never served:**The ticket dies after 90 days
True or no?
These cameras are ridiculous - just another way for the government to steal $ from us citizens .. mind you, my wife and I already pay more in taxes annually than we spend on ourselves
Bunch of parasites

I normally don’t take Indian School from the 101 to get to OT/Arcadia, etc., and haven’t in awhile. I made the mistake of doing so today and couldn’t believe the traffic, both west and eastbound. Down to one lane. Lights to go anywhere at Indian School and 101 are terrible. Def related to the new Costco being built but seems like other things are going on too. Anyway even at off hours, it‘s a mess.

My wife and I signed a lease at The Beverly at One Scottsdale in February 2026, in one of the most expensive units on the property ($6,435 base rent). Posting because I wish I'd known this before signing:
- Water leaked from our HVAC closet into a bathroom and the bedroom. It took about 3 months before repairs started.
- When they repaired it, they pulled flooring out of another unit (1044) to patch ours instead of using new material.
- The contractors came for about an hour at a time with no schedule, for roughly 2 months. Part of our bedroom and a closet were unusable the whole time.
- Management told us we'd get a rent concession for it. About 5 months later, we haven't.
- Recurring trash buildup in the trash room that smells up the first-floor hallway, and a garage gate that's frequently out of service.
Their Google rating is 4.9, but on Yelp it's 3.1, and a few other people there describe similar things: promised concessions or refunds that didn't happen, and maintenance that drags. Read both and decide for yourself.
If you're touring: get every promise (concessions, repair timelines, fees) in writing, and ask for the total monthly cost including all fees.
I put the full writeup with photos and video here: https://thebeverlyscottsdale.sucks
Anyone else live there? Curious whether this is just us.

To clarify, I am not the person who found the film or developed the photos. I just saw the post online, and it looked very much like North Scottsdale (I know people who live in a very similar house, which is why it was so striking).
They are trying to reconnect this family with their photos.
It's likely Christmastime 2001, and the family / group appears to primarily consist of Indian members, and it looks like they had a pool table right when you walk in the door.
If that sounds like anyone you know, I've included the link here, but I can also share pics if anyone thinks they know them but doesn't have access to Threads.
Text from original post:
Hey threads, i need your help. If you know me, you know i thrift and collect cameras. A little while ago i found one with a finished roll, and finally got it developed. These are pretty old photos; I’m guessing from the 1990s, but would love to get these beautiful photos to the family. Please share and let me know or if you recognize them!
