I still think about my ex who hogged scholarships. He had $40k of excess scholarship for just the first year.

it’s not even like he needed it for basic necessity—he just didn’t need it. his mom would use the money to go on trips wherever he wanted. they had a house, food, all of their basic needs met and more. everytime I think of problems with the scholarship system, I think of him.

I go into this Reddit and I see people working their butts off in part time work, trying to get money to pay their bills. he had a full ride scholarship. I was looking for scholarships, and for some reason he gate-kept. he got like 3 from my city because no one from my city applied (he was in a different city).

he didn’t see anything wrong with it.

all I saw was him taking opportunity away from others.

Scholarships for middle income students

Hi I'm a high school senior. My parents make around $200 000+ and I applied for fafsa and got nothing. I don't have a college savings and my parents are in a lot of debt and I have a sibling entering college the same year as me. I've applied for big and small scholarships junior year and senior year totalling around 60 and I haven't gotten one (I understand it's part of the process). My stats are not good I didn't take Ap's in 9 10 or 11 because I was homeschooled. I don't have any extracurricular activities either. Can anyone share any scholarships for middle income students?

Tuition and Scholarship Changes Made Weeks After Tuition Was Paid

Hello! I am looking for some feedback on something that happened with my scholarship funding this week.

I received $1,500 in scholarships this semester, split between two scholarships. My university distributes these scholarships in August via email and applies the amount as a credit towards your tuition and fee statement (basically, it's deducted from what you would otherwise owe). My tuition was paid in full on September 1st and was due September 21st, and showed a balance of $0 at that time. I received an email today (October 27) stating I owed the university money, even though I owed nothing just a few weeks ago. They sent me the breakdown of my statement, saying changes had been made to one of my academic (solely GPA-based) scholarships and showed the date of change as October 13th. They removed $500 from my scholarship 6 weeks into the semester, 3 weeks after tuition was due. They are now saying I owe the difference for what they revoked, and that it is due October 29th (this is the first I have heard from them, by the way). Also, my university has a clear policy that if you meet a certain GPA, you are entitled to a minimum scholarship amount. My scholarship no longer reflects the GPA I hold.

I have searched for clear policies on this matter at my institution and across other institutions, but found nothing. To my knowledge, I have not violated any of my terms. Regardless, my amount shouldn't change halfway through a semester, right?

I would love to know if anyone has experience with this or has gone through something similar.

PS. My friend received the same scholarship (different amount but same name) and had no changes incurred to her account. Loo

scholarship essays

Hi, so i’m working on scholarship essays and I plan on majoring in psychology but i’m struggling to come up with hooks that really grab the judges attention. The essay prompt is to describe my education and career goals and why i chose this + my motivation. So far I’ve only came up with a hook i could maybe use and it’s ā€œMy first heartbreak wasn’t a boy, it was my dad.ā€ or is it cliche? I also have ā€œThere’s something’s so peculiar about being melancholic on your birthdayā€ I’m really having writers block, any advice would help, thank you!

Music Scholarships?

For some background, I’m a HS senior who is looking to go to Northwest Missouri State University to become a choir director. I’m having a really hard time finding specifically music related scholarships. I am a decent singer, as I was just accepted into the Missouri All-State Choir, and I thought it’d be easier to use my voice to help pay for college, but so far there hasn’t been much. Any ideas? I’m already planning on auditioning for THEIR specific scholarships, but I’m looking for outside that.

Looking for STEM summer programs and scholarships as a high school junior

I'm currently a high school junior interested in astrophysics, aerospace engineering, and electrical engineering.

I'm trying to find summer programs, research opportunities, scholarships, and other STEM opportunities that can help me prepare for college.

Ideally, I'm looking for programs that are free or offer financial aid, but I'm open to different options.

I'm especially interested in:

  • Aerospace and space engineering
  • Astronomy and astrophysics research
  • Electrical engineering
  • Programs that help high school students connect with colleges and researchers
  • Scholarships available to juniors or incoming seniors

For students who have been through this process, where did you find good opportunities? Are there any programs, websites, or application lists you'd recommend?

I'd appreciate any advice or resources. Thanks!

How do I go about applying for scholarships as someone both in high school and college?

As of now, I am fully on track to graduate with an associates in applied science and high school diploma at the same time and I am just wondering if the application process for scholarships will look any different for me. I have spoke to my advisor and she told me to email the schools I am interested in but I just wanted to check on here first before I make any calls. If and when I get accepted for scholarships will it go to my current college as for I have to pay tuition or can I save it and use it for when I go to university? How do internal scholarships work? I am currently looking at Ohio State, Michigan, and possibly Washington for Environmental Science so if anyone knows about them that would be much help! I am currently a junior in high school living in TN so I have some time to figure this out but I want to get ahead of the curve as much as possible. Much thanks!

Hey guys,

I just finished high school and I would like to have a good profile for uni applications so besides volunteering what are actives or projects a civil engineering student could do and don't need to be around engineering only

Thanks in advance

University of Alabama scholarship

I have a 3.35 weighted GPA and applied test optional (out of state) so I’m missing auto merit. Anyone get a competitive scholarship with these stats? If so how much? I reality want to go to Alabama but my parents aren’t going to let me know without any kind of money given.
