This game is literal perfection. It has an incredible soundtrack, beautiful pixel art, and smooth controls. What isn't there to love? It's truly THE best beat em up ever created!

I feel like VectorMan doesn't get enough love. It was such a unique Genesis game, but Sega has never really brought the series back. They've revived or revisited a bunch of their other classic franchises, so it makes me wonder why VectorMan hasn't gotten another chance. Would you like to see VectorMan come back?

Growing up in a developing country, we didn't have the original Sega Genesis - only replicas like the one in this photo. This is my favorite console, and I've held onto it all these years thanks to my grandma. The game collection from the '00s is pretty decent, too. And it still works fine!

4 years ago today rumors of Kodama's death following a tribute in the MD Mini 2's credits were confirmed by SEGA (link).
For those unfamiliar, Kodama was a creative lead on the Phantasy Star games, and the director of Phantasy Star IV.
You can also see her pseudonym ("Phoenix Rie") in the credits of Sonic 1, Sonic CD, Shadow Dancer, Altered Beast, Alex Kidd MD, among others.
She remained at SEGA through the Dreamcast days, most notably working as a producer on Skies of Arcadia.
Here is a great writeup on Kodama from 2004:

I am a huge fan of the "What if?" branches of video gaming history, and I always wanted to see what Hard Drivin' would have looked like on the 32X. I have been playing around with Claude as well as reverse engineering the arcade ROMs to port them to the 32X hardware and take advantage of the two 32X CPUs and the Genesis CPU. Here's a short video of the attract mode. The actual game has full sound, and playing on real hardware (in my case a 32X plugged into a CDX...) runs and handles beautifully.

Our family voraciously consumed RPGs on our Sega Genesis back in the day, and since the SMS Phantasy Star 1 was the first game that hooked us on the genre, the series always had a special place in my heart. My dad got us a Genesis very soon after release and I realized later it was because he was so eager to play Phantasy Star 2 and some of the other exciting new RPGs that were released soon after the Genesis came out, such as Sword of Vermillion and Super Hydlide.
When Phantasy Star 3 was released, my mom got it for my dad for Christmas and we cracked into it that day. I was immediately hooked by the ability to choose the path of the game via the marriage\generation system, and it gave the game a lot of replay value.
I know that the game's themes are very different than the more sci-fi oriented predecessors, but there's so many cool elements, and the soundtrack is fantastic. I'm always surprised by how many people I see that love 2 and 4 but won't play 3 and vocally dislike it.
If I didn't still replay it from time to time I might attribute it to sentimentality, but I do still really enjoy it, maybe even more than 2 or 4 which felt like more of a slog, so I'm truly surprised that there's so much negativity toward it!

Was going through my childhood games in my grandmas basement. Was wondering these worth anything ? I do have a few other games I didn’t post a photo of because it’s the case and booklets but the games seem to be missing from them. But all the ones in the photos I posted have the games seem.
Edit: so many people saying I should keep them I honestly think I’ll just keep them. We have all our old systems from my uncles generation down to like including Atari, Nintendo and any other system you can think of so even if it’s sitting in our basement in a box it’s kind of nostalgic having them.

So, recently i got a sega genesis from a yardsale. I was told it worked, but it didn't come with a game. It's a 16-bit, mk-160000. I looked around in my gargantuan for a old sega genesis game, and found a baseball game that is supposedly 16-bit. The problem is, it doesn't fit. The 16-bit cartridge doesn't fit in the 16-bit sega genesis, the cartridge is too large. I don't know anything about sega genesis, the only sega console i had was a game gear. I don't know if it's fake or maybe just a small display model? If someone who knows about it could help, I'd appreciate it!

Zeebo's Double Dragon is remembered as a hidden gem trapped on a completely obscure niche console. Derek from the Stop Skeletons From Fighting channel made a video showcasing this game a few years ago ( https://youtu.be/SXLEctgWe7I?si=_5vNDTA6bg5DCfAb&t=1012 ), and it's simply one of the best Double Dragon versions that unfortunately was never re-released.
A few years ago, the Zeebo finally got an emulator called Infuse, and recently Zeebx and its Double Dragon finally became playable (although there are still some sound issues in these emulators, but they will probably be fixed).
And now Zeebo's Double Dragon has simply been ported to the Sega Genesis/Mega Drive. The port started in 2025 by RJ Games and was only completed today, and it's free to play, working on both the original hardware and the emulator.

Note: This is not a sales post, merely getting an idea about selling value to MAYBE post on a different sub if I decide to sell.
Good day everyone. So, I've got an extra Genesis and some games, along with an extra Everdrive and a budget HDMI converter. I'm interested in selling it as a lot but I'm not exactly sure how much to charge for it so here's what I have and maybe you fine folks can give me some sort of idea about a fair asking price? I've checked Price Charting but I'd like to hear what other people think.
Item list:
Model 2 Sega Genesis. It's in good shape and I've replaced the reset button
Mega Everdrive Pro with a 64gb sd card
Levelhike HDMI converter
Sonic 2, CIB
Street Fighter II: SCE, reproduction box
Vectorman, reproduction box
Quackshot, loose
X-Men 2, reproduction box

European Club Soccer was far from perfection, but had its charm back when it came out, especially before we could play better games like Sensible Soccer, FIFA or International Superstar Soccer. Hence, it was short lived.
I thought the game could give us something more than it did, and back in 2023 I started thinking about how I could get more countries and more clubs into it, thinking that I could play it for myself since the game had been popular for a very short time before getting replaced by better games.
Was it necessary? No, but who knows, maybe someone else is gonna like this edition?
As of today, this edition has the following features:

D&D WOTES terrifies me. How come a game looks and sounds so good can be this bad? This game supposed to be my dream: Ultima 6 style isometric open world with turn based fights and Eye of the Beholder style first person dungeons with real time fights.
Well, the game is obtuse as hell! There are many secret dungeons with nice treasures but you can't see their entrances. Even if you enter, you have to find secret walls to go through. The game gives you no clue about these walls or traps, they are invisible. Supposedly elves have a chance to find them but pfft...
This game doesn't even give you any direction in order to progress the story. It leaves you to wilderness. So i'm supposed to use a walkthrough and look at maps online, dammit.
Your party starts out extremely weak. They have the accuracy of a 3 year old toddler. Rather than keep watching them missing, you have to grind and level up. But how? Check this out, it's hilarious: you have to equip everyone with bows and slings regardless of their class, then find a dungeon with tough monsters and spam your projectiles from distance because you have infinite ammo... Yeah, you don't even have to see the monster, just send many arrows to the void and enjoy free XP if there's someone standing there.
There are many methods for cheesing. Magic users are desperate for resting just to recover their spells. But they can spam a wand of lightning. When it's out of charge, all you need to do is save and reload. So it isn't a hard game if you know how to exploit.
Even the small details show the low effort. Bearded female characters. Big dungeons without different walls or indications which makes navigation exhausting (there isn't even an on-screen minimap, you have to open the menu. and it resets when you leave the floor). Dungeon music doesn't even play, you have to disable and enable the music from settings.
I don't want to rant about the story, characters and dialogues. Let's say it's hard to find anything interesting. I can't believe how shallow this game is.
If you're looking for a western RPG where you can create your party and go for an adventure, try Buck Rogers. SSI made it, the guys who made licensed DnD Gold Box games such as Pool of Radiance, Azure Bonds and Eye of the Beholder. Buck Rogers is using the same Gold Box engine. Plus, it's better on Sega Genesis compared to PC version.

For those who don't already know, the 6 pak is a variety pack of six first party Sega games on one cartridge.
If you were tasked with designing another 6 pak to exist alongside the first with the goal of offering something for everyone, what six games would you choose?

Hello. I’m new to this sub. I’ve seen Moonwalker that I’ve been trying to get, on eBay but they’re repro carts from China. My question is not to validate a collection, but to ask if you guys have had good experiences with repro carts? I also found quite a few locally here in L.A. FBMKTP where people are selling repro carts of highly sought after games like Gaires and PS4. Should I stay clear of the eBay repro carts, or do you guys also buy them and have no issues with the quality? That’s my biggest factor. Thank you.

Hi everyone! My name is Jonathan, and I would like to share Tyrian MD, a work-in-progress native port of Tyrian for the Sega Genesis / Mega Drive. I hope it may be of interest to fellow fans of the console and shoot-em-ups.
The project uses OpenTyrian as its behavioral reference and targets the stock console: a 7.67 MHz 68000, 64 KB of RAM, the VDP, YM2612 and PSG. No Sega CD or 32X is required. The goal is to preserve the gameplay while adapting the rendering, sound and data layout to the Genesis hardware.
Source, emulator screenshots, build instructions and known limitations:
https://github.com/jonathandasilvasantos/2026-tyrian-md
Current progress:
• Four Tyrian 2.1 episode data sets (62 levels) in one 8 MiB / 64 Mbit SSF2 cartridge, with episode selection and campaign progression.
• Front and rear weapons, shops, all 30 sidekicks, superbombs, specials, ship combos, and the scripted ENGAGE/GALAGA bonus behavior, including the linked second ship.
• Story text and pictures, datacubes, checkpoint passwords, PAL/NTSC support, and the original 41 songs converted for YM2612/PSG.
• A portable C simulation shared by the host and 68000 builds, with recorded parity tests.
This is still a work in progress. Dense scenes slow down, full-campaign and real-hardware validation are ongoing, and the third background layer, parts of the presentation and several extra modes remain unfinished. The README documents the current adaptations and limitations.
AI disclosure: extensive Codex assistance has been used for the C implementation, conversion tools, tests and documentation. The screenshots in the repository are actual emulator captures using the original Tyrian graphics. The artwork and music are not generative-AI assets; the music is converted from the original game data.
Credits and thanks to the OpenTyrian Development Team (https://github.com/opentyrian/opentyrian), Jason Emery, Daniel Cook, Alexander Brandon, Andreas Molnar and the original Tyrian team. The port source is GPL-2.0-or-later; the game assets retain their own rights. The repository provides source and build instructions, with dependencies and game data obtained separately.
Thank you for taking a look. Feedback on gameplay differences, performance and hardware compatibility would be greatly appreciated!

I think the only thing I might also want for the system are the Streets of Rage Trilogy and Ristar (which I haven’t gotten because theyre pretty pricy), but is there anything y’all would recommend that I might be missing? I really like platformers and action games
