Prospective Student Chances of getting accepted into SDSU?

I’m honestly kind of stressed because I’m a high school student and in a situation where I cannot go to CC and transfer. Can you guys let me know my chances of getting in based on my stats? Be blatantly honest!

CSU GPA: 3.94
A-G Courses: 34 years. Took the extra recommended year of math and 4 years of Spanish.
APs: 5 total (APUSH, APES, AP Econ, AP Gov, AP Stats). I’ve only taken the APUSH test and got a 3.
Honors: 1 (Honors Biology freshmen year, got a F one semester and made it up in summer school and got a C)
Dual Enrollment: 15 classes, all As, followed the CAL-GETC path which is the general education transfer pathway for CC students. This is why I can’t really go to CC and transfer, I’ve already finished all my gen ed/pre reqs and would basically be taking a gap year and taking 1 class a semester to just transfer. Feels like a complete waste of time.
Extracurriculars: Reported 11-15 hours on the app.
Major: BA in Social Science

Also, I’m in the local admissions area.

Please let me know what you guys think! Be honest so I know what to expect. If you have any questions about things that could impact my chances and I didn’t list it here, just ask and I’ll let you know. However, I think I’ve covered everything that SDSU considers for admission.

SDSU does not look at extracurriculars.

No one here can guess your chances of admission, not even the Admissions Office can tell you.

Apply to some other schools as well so you have back up schools to choose from.

Good luck!

You’re right honestly. But they do ask how many hours you spend on extracurriculars a week on average on the application.

Thank you!!

Did you go to high school south of the 56?

SDSU heavily favors admissions that are close by. They want to beat the commuter school allegations

I'd say about 67%.

You could get in, but don't rely on it. Apply to other places too.

Good to know. Why such a specific percentage 🤨🤣

As long as you dont apply for nursing or aerospace engineering and live below the 56, you're pretty solid with a 3.9 (coming from someone in admissions)

That’s good to hear!! Thank you (:

What major? You can look up which majors have higher acceptance rates online. But pick the college you are interested in. Then switch when you get there. I know the sciences, engineering and business are pretty hard to get into.

I was denied with very similar stats, almost that many DE classes and IGETC from HS. Wasn't in the local admission area so you have that going for you. I appealed and got in. Good luck.

Being local and a competitive GPA makes SDSU a solid target. Good luck.

See if you can petition to waiver residency requirements at city college and if you get an ADT from there it’s guanranteed admission to SDSU.

I got my associates degree but they won’t let me apply as a transfer student unfortunately because I’m still considered a high school applicant 😔

Can you petition to waive that requirement? Did you check? I say because there’s petitions for everything in college

I wish but unfortunately not.

Hey! I had very similar statistics to you (minus the dual enrollment) — I think your chances are pretty good! I had a C and several Bs on my transcript, and I got in and am attending SDSU. I’m also in a very competitive major, so I think that’s definetly a sign your stats could get you in.

I encourage you to apply to the honors college as well! It’s awesome.

that makes me so happy to hear!! what would you say the pros and cons of the honors college are?

You get amazing teachers for your small classes, and so many opportunities to be involved. It makes you a really well rounded person. I’m a first year and really enjoying my small section honors class. You make a lot of close friends, and the mentor program that’s included is amazing. The only con is that it does add extra classes into your schedule, but since you may be transferring in a lot of credits, it may not be that big of a deal! It personally wasn’t for me and having to delay a GE a semester still has me likely graduating early.

However, admissions at CSUs are a lot of random so obviously varies from person to person, with it sometimes not making much sense. Wish you the best of luck!

good luck, sdsu is all about the money, more chance if your out of state or foreign for the higher tuition. im local with similar GPA, national honor society inducted and they denied me. ended up at csusm where im a sophomore now.

Damn. It really do be like that. They’re OOS acceptance is like 80% lmao. What major did you apply with? How’s CSUSM?
