Opinions on AI aside, I’m working on a project you all might be interested in.
With all of the vibe coded decomps and video game hacks hitting the web, it got my gears ticking because there’s plenty of AAA games being worked on but I haven’t seen much in the Yu-Gi-Oh! Or Rom Hacking Community in general.
My plan is to use a clean copy of Yu-Gi-Oh! 5D’s World Championship 2011 for NDS, decompile the files, and add cards up to 2016. That means I’m planning on adding XYZ summons as well but I’m going to start without them just to get the game functioning with the addition of new cards and mechanics.
So far I’ve compiled a repository of every card OCG and TCG for the agents to pull from and I’m in the process of decompiling the game files with pretty stringent guidelines to make reaching my goal as simple to prompt as possible.
Once I’ve accomplished all of that, my end game is to deconstruct the game to just its skeleton and design a brand new storyline that follows the Anime events of Season 1 on Pegasus Island.
I realize this is a huge undertaking and it’s going to take quite a while because I’m doing it alone and I’m using free tokens which makes this process much longer. It’s made easier by using multiple agents for planning, researching, and developing though.
Let me know if you guys are interested in keeping up with this project and if you have any suggestions!
p.s. I’m not currently looking for a partner as I’m mostly doing this to read the scripts and thought processes so that I’m not just using the agent but learning the methodology as well.
