The Riddle: "The Blind Librarian’s Archive"

My former master left his library divided into four infinite shelves. Before he died, he handed me his journal containing four fragments and a final desire: to find the only book that never lies.

On Shelf I, the volumes are numbered from left to right in an arithmetic progression: 7, 15, 23, 31... Each spine carries an initial letter which, read in order, forms the key that unlocks the door.

On Shelf II, the tomes hold secrets of time. The first volume states: 'I was born when the sun last kissed the zenith in the year of iron.' The second: 'I grew when the shadows doubled over men.' The third: 'I matured when the earth slept under the longest cold.'

On Shelf III, the pages are stained with blood and ink. There are five books written by the same author, but under different names: The Assassin, The Witness, The Victim, The Judge, and The Accomplice. It is known that: 1. The Assassin and The Witness never share a shelf. 2. The Victim is placed exactly to the immediate left of The Accomplice. 3. The Judge did not write the first or the last book, and his right-hand neighbor always lies.

On Shelf IV, rests the final Grimoire. Its cover bears this encrypted inscription: 'L ORV RUH GLFH OD YHUGDG HV HO Q-3'

Tell me, seeker: What is the title of the true book, and what name did its original author sign?

I can speak for days and paint my art

Fools can't tell me and men apart

I never eat but I drink the sea

You won't gain much from loving me

I was fathered by some evil men

And once I'm gone I'll never rise again.

Hey all, I made up a riddle for my DnD party and I want to see if it’s unsolvable or too easy, the answer is one word. If you could attempt it that'd be incredibly helpful!

Binds and suffuses

The world revolves on its axis

The reason for being

Cause of all war and strife

Riddle of old and mystery in nature

————————————————————
Harken, though I espy, I have hewn the welt I wrought to waning.

Thine of ancient bestow me signe or maw,
yet I grant no fealty to dominion nor thane,
but answer to sepulcher unbound.

No illumination bewrayeth my lair,
nor doth any reckoning bind me fast.
For I abide not in silhouette nor station,
but in the waning beneath certainty.

Not as giver of boon nor burden am I,
but the loosening of what was verity.
Whilom I was patron unto hush,
and stillness mistook itself for me.

No reliquary have I claimed,
yet many decrees yield before me.
No covenant was spoken at my birthing,
yet even pale-bone keepeth my counsel.

Cwede, gif þū cunnest, hwæt ic sīe.

Can you solve the murder?

A serial killer just claimed their third victim in nine years.

Each of the victims were elderly and lived alone. They had also each within the past few months fallen ill before either making a full or partial recovery a few days before they were killed. None of them had left home since they became sick either, although each of them had had a black sedan parked in near their house for a few hours each either a few days or the day before they started to recover. The driver of the car or cars was not seen.

Luckily there was a witness for each murder. All three witnesses described roughly the same series of events:

The killer was a man dressed in an outfit which completely covered them and hid their face (the first and third witnesses said they were dressed in all black, the second said they were dressed in light gray, and the third witness was the only one to describe their outfit as formal).

The killer enters the house through the front door late at night easily and without hesitation while the homeowner is completely oblivious.

The killer then simply approaches the victim without any visible weapon or means of attack, the victims notice the intruder and begin to panic.

A short chase ensues with the killer calmly following behind the victim never laying a hand on them.

The victim soon appears to be out of breath or more accurately unable to breath at all, and after a short period of time they fall to the ground and soon after die.

The killer then calmly goes about opening every window in each room they passed through before leaving the way they came.

Who is the killer and how do they kill?

(You can ask for 1 hint)

I wrote a poem for my brother with a hidden message. Can you figure it out? And once you do, I’d love to hear how you interpret it. (Very difficult) (for real detective) 🔍🕵️‍♂️

We built a home from little things, never knowing what we’d bait
The years have carved their names in us, each season has its date
And even when the world went cold, we held on to our faith
Some things are worth more than gold, beyond a measured rate
Brother, no distance could undo the bond that made us mates
The loudest hearts have quiet days, and learn the art to wait
We’ve seen the good, we’ve seen the bad, the love, the fear, the hate
But words can never hold the whole of what two souls state
And if the road should split in two, I’d find you, even late
For time can change a thousand things, but it will never be too late
I carry all those years with me, the ones I shared with Nath
And leave a little room for all the things still waiting past the gate

Who spilled the coffee? Four statements, only one is true

Someone spilled coffee on the keyboard. Exactly one person did it, and exactly one of these four statements is true.

Jade: "It was Paul or Théo."

Théo: "It was Inès or Paul."

Inès: "It wasn't Jade."

Paul: "It wasn't me."

Who spilled it? (Spoiler tags please: like this)

Do you feel the pull?

Thumbnail

light is closer than it appears.

it draws the shapes out in front of you,

but no one can listen to what is vivid.

every grain is the shape of light.

not compelling but pulling towards you.

they shatter and tear and pull and push,

just to reshape and make the ground beneath you.

even time is no match for the grain. because the grain has made time flown.

dispersed and thrown into your eye.

your mind is but a vessel of light.

gods phantom is you.

the light that lives only today.

but subjectively lives in thought till tomorrow.

What am I?

For thousands of years, I have been both loved and despised.

Without a single blade, I have brought men to ruin... yet, at times, I have saved a soul from peril.

At my whisper, thousands of soldiers marched to their deaths, and cities were swallowed by flames.

I travel a thousand miles without feet, yet I am no mere rumor.

The greedy adore me, yet I am neither wealth nor power.

I slip into human hearts, wearing the face of my own sister.

What am I?
