Help Finishing Shower surround
Long story short, I bought supplies to renovate my bathroom and did not start renovation until about 6 months later. I bought this shower surround thinking it was an easy swap out for the original surround which was glue direct to greenboard style.
I didn't do the proper research before buying this surround, and only 6 months after buying it did I realize it was direct to stud. So as I proceed though the install, I find the left side wall will not sit properly on the shower pan with the existing furring strips. There is only a ¼ inch space between the pan and the cinderblock wall. I ripped down furring strips to allow the surround to sit on the shower pan correctly.
So now, I have run into my next and current problem. Did I see the problem as I was installing and say to myself “ I’ll figure it out when I get there”? Yes, yes I did .So now I'm here and need your help.
The existing drywall is ½ inch with the ¾ furring strips. No matter how I place it , the drywall sits proud of the lip of the surround.
I was thinking of doing a PVC trim of sorts as a transition but I can't think of an eye pleasing way of building it out.
My other option that I prefer not to do is remove it and get the correct glue-to-greenboard surround.
I’m all ears!
