In version 7,83 we finally have virtual instruments in Reaper and also some interesting plugins, I decided to create this song by testing them.

In the past few days, I've been getting audio crackling sounds whenever I move notes in the MIDI editor. At first, I suspected the buffer size was too low, but I haven't changed any settings (it was at 128 before and worked fine). Also, the issue doesn't happen during playback, or when I click the notes on the virtual instrument's UI.

​My only guess is that a driver update for my audio interface (UAD Volt 1) a few days ago might have caused some issues.

​Does anyone have any ideas on what might be causing this and how I can fix it?

I'm having some problems to reach the reaper forum, never had this issue before. For some mysterious reasons I'm not able to reach the forum, I'm able to reach the main site but not the forum.

I'm able to reach it from my mobile network but not from my fiber network. I did a tracert and it seems like my provider routes the traffic correctly, the time out happens about 3 nodes later.

I'd like to know if I'm the only one having this issue to understand if I have to do something or just wait, I'm in Italy.

I want to record a few songs in reaper. I'm a prog guy so there will be many tempo and meter changes. I do plan on playing a click track with the changes mapped out in reaper.

For continuity (mostly related to tones and effects settings) is it crazy to record all the songs in 1 project file? I'm the type that only want to use 1 type of effect on everything. If I find a better delay or something like that, I'll want it on all the songs. I don't like the idea of have to open 5 projects to maintain continuity.

Is it a terrible idea to record mutliple songs in 1 project? Remember, tempo and meter changes too. What could possibly go wrong? Please tell me 😂

Is it possible, within a session, to use a command or script to lock a control surface—ensuring that touching or moving any of its physical knobs or buttons does not trigger changes in the DAW—without having to disable or delete the control surface in Options > Preferences?

I am behind on windows updates obviously, I’ve just been worried about losing access to plugins or recordings if I upgrade to windows 11. I am going to take a full image of my computer before I do, but will I lose anything (product keys, plugins, recordings, etc.) if I upgrade from windows 10 to 11?

The website is still down. Any news when it will be back up? Or are there any alternative page for downloading the latest sws version?

Short loop I built in REAPER. The trick that made it work:

1. Write the main melody first (nylon guitar, A minor, 88 BPM) and loop the 4 bars.
2. Flute only plays short answers in the gaps between guitar phrases, never on top of them.
3. Violin holds the long notes underneath, so it supports instead of competing.
4. Keep each part simple, then bring in the 808 and drums.

I kept each instrument on its own track and used the piano roll on each to line the phrases up against the guitar.

I am able to get the actual spectrogram to work, but I cannot get the png file to show up. I put the "visual" track on top of all the audio tracks and then made sure it had both the oscillator visual plugin and the video sample peeker plugin that both come with reaper. It even shows up on the timeline. However, in the small video preview window, the image does not show up at all even though it is on the timeline. Any advice?

maybe this is a everyday question or sum like that, but i couldnt find anything related online, while recording sometimes it cuts a part of the audio, like voices or instruments, i used to record on ipad on garage band but i wanted to upgrade to my laptop (windows 11), and i have problems with my metronome, while recording it sounds like if it had low volume but when listening the recorded audio it sounds louder (way louder), those are the 2 things that keep me using garage band rn 😔, hope i can solve this, ill be heading to school and then ill be trying whatever yall sugest, have a nice day ✌️

So i am new on this sector. I am looking to start a quiz show of basically 5 contestant and 1 host. So i will be in need of using 6 mics and i need to create a one single audio from it.

I was considering buying a mixer first then i got to know about reaper.

So i am asking expert suggestion that can reaper be a proper alternative of audio mixer? Will it be able to give me a single audio from 6 microphone inputs?

As Reaper loads the plugins associated with the project, Nectar 4 causes it to quit. No error messages, or anything. I was also able to recreate the problem by adding Nectar 4 to a track in a project that didn't have it already within.

I updated to Reaper 7.83 last night and noticed that when I select a new item in Media Explorer, that the previous item flashes red. What's that about? i tried searching the cockos forum and reddit and found no answer. It happens regardless of audio driver, although everything works fine with the audio and Media Explorer.

I don't know whether I'm accidentally changing a setting here and there, or whether it's a weird bug in Reaper. So I'm asking here to help me track down the root cause.

Every now and then, in a Reaper project, I will find a track has a changed setting, For example:

• the preset of the instrument I'm using in a particular track will change to a different preset
• a midi track transposes itself by a semitone

It doesn't happen often. And as I said: it's possible I've accidentally changed something without realising. But I don't think that explains it. In a couple of instances, I haven't opened that track for days, and only realise it has changed when I am trying to work out why something sounds off in the mixing stage of the song.

In case it matters: I mostly use NI Komplete instruments and iZotope production VSTs, with a few other plugins where needed, and a Komplete Kontrol keyboard.

Anyway: does anyone else experience mysterious spontaneous track/instrument changes from time to time?

Note: I still love and am in awe of Reaper. It's an awesome DAW.

Obviously I'm very new to the program and am still learning the properly terminology so bear with me on this one. In the circled red bits where there is no wavelength and where the audio isn't even occupy the space the beat is still playing on loop and I can't figure out how to make it only play where the track is placed.
