My best pumpkin yet (real, not foam). Used only the tools shown. I used a sharpie for the contrast in the later half of the photos. ...And had to flex a bit with the last 2 pics (not even full collection but maxed out the pic upload for a post)

How good are the PC recomps?

I'm thinking about reviewing each ratchet game. I can play the PS2 games easily, it's the PS3 games I'm struggling with. So I'm wondering if using the decomps is a good idea. Some of them are AI and I don't know which ones. So would that play a factor in the discussion?

Secret Agent Clank After a lot of perseverance, I have finally gotten all Skill Points in Secret Agent Clank.

This was definitely a completionist's nightmare. If it wasn't for the rewind feature, plenty of these would've not been possible for me (especially since I owned the game previously on PS2).

Here's a list of the Skill Points I dreaded on getting the most, even with the rewind feature. On a normal playthrough without rewind, perfect runs or timed challenges, especially on extremely long levels would've been a huge turn off for me.

When you're playing casually, Secret Agent Clank can be a lot of fun, but as a completionist, it's definitely one of the worst games by far. Fortunately now that I'm on Challenge Mode, all I gotta do now is find all the Alien Codes & Keycards and then beat the game again at least couple more times while upgrading all my Proto and Titan weapons.

Going Commando VS Up Your Arsenal

I just finished playing both these classics, and thought their differences were interesting. There's definitely pros and cons to both games, but I thought it would be interesting to compare their biggest differences. Core combat is mostly the same, the biggest changes are the upgrade system, the collectables, and the "gimmick levels"

WEAPON UPGRADES

Going Commando:

You get a gun, it upgrades only one time, very often turning into a very different gun. The Lava Gun > Meteor Gun being the biggest change.

Up Your Arsenal:

Guns have 5 levels (ignoring NG+), and they get incremental upgrades, mostly damage increases, but sometimes mechanical changes too (lock on, secondary damage, explosions). Most guns don't significantly change until they hit level 5. I think I prefer this version, since the levels come faster, and the changes are always something you want (except for The Devastator's useless missiles upgrade)

COLLECTABLES

I think Going Commando has a much better use of collectables, turning platinum bolts into illegal mod currency, rather than buying skins that look worse than regular armor in Up Your Arsenal. At no point in UYA did I want to collect Titanium Bolts or character trophies

"GIMMICK LEVELS"

anything that isn't a run-through-to-the-end level. Both games have Arena Matches, Clank Missions, and Mining Missions. GC has Pod Racing, and Space Ship Battles. UYA has Hovership Missions, Battle Missions, and Quark Vidcomics

I think I much prefer the gimmick missions in Going Commando. There is like 3x the amount of Arena content (I love that the most), and even though the pod racing was boring, I can't believe they got rid of the Space Ship missions in UYA! Those were legitimately so fun!

UYA introduced Battle Missions, and those honestly were just like a regular planet, but broken up into pieces. I absolutely hated the Quark Vidcomics, as a one time thing, it was charming, but it's so boring to make it mandatory to do all 5.

I may be in the minority, but I liked the planet mining stuff in GC. The desert level especially. It was fun just relaxing, upgrading my weapons, and getting bolts the whole time. The sewer crystal level in UYA was annoying. It was cool you could gravity-boot up the walls, but that will get you lost quick. Just a slog to get through.

Overall, I think I prefer Going Commando over Up Your Arsenal, but they are very very close in quality. I'm starting up Deadlock, next. Hopefully that will scratch my arena itch

Size Matters I wanna talk about this.

Post image

I know i'm probably going to get a lot of hate because of this, but i don't really understand why people despise Size Matters so much.

I'm not saying it's perfect, because it is far from being that, but dudes constantly shit on it like if they totally forget that this was a PSP game after all.

Expecially Youtubers, in every ranking video i see (or generally speaking any video that talks about R&C and Size Matters gets mentioned in it) they always talks about it like if it was the Satan of gaming, and worst of all they rarely barely even care to give a proper explaination for this hate; they always remain utterly vague and generic on the reasons they give, and most of them i feel like they are only personal and subjective matters rather than objective ones.

Like the arguments are always "yeah i hate that bossfight with Luna", ok, i hated the bossfight with the Biobliterator in R&C 3 too (which is even the very final boss of the game itself, so one can argue it's even worse in this scenario of it to be bad) but i still fucking love the game, and it's my favourite.

"But most of the weapons were boring, they were uninspired and just a copy and paste of the past games", which was basically a tradition at that point...?

Since Going Commando most of the weapons we had were just a reskin/rename of weapons that already appeared in past games, because they are iconic.

"The grafic was bad", it's a PSP game 😭

And so on...

I'm gonna repeat that surely this is NOT a perfect game at all, it's far from that actually, but to always put It straight up in D tier everytime? Nah man, that's absolute slander.

Considering that D tier is the same tier where people generally put in mobile games too, like R&C going mobile etc... You can't tell me Size Matters is on the same level of those c'mon 🫩

Maybe i'm biased, because Size Matters is actually the first R&C game i've ever played, and it's the one that introduced me to the series and made me buy the first trilogy and absolutely eat it with passion and enjoyment, but i still think that people tend to be way more harsher than they should be with the game, it has many flaws, but has a good amount of positive points too, at least in my opinion.

Lemme know what you think

Discussion Why did they nerf the thruster pack?

Was it just to equalise it mechanically with the helipack? What was the need for that? To me they ruined it. Totally. I love thrusting forward after you jump or thrust upwards; and the body slam.

One of many things that make the first game unique and the best, albeit not for the right reason.

If anyone doesn’t know this method, you pretty much put a couple of small pumpkins on the circle button to hold it down while you get a bunch of bolts with your taunter.

A small visual screw-up I can't help noticing each time I see this cutscene which kinda bothers me even though it's not such a big deal.
