Hi! I’ve been having trouble with my Ally not being able to boot.

Things I’ve tried:

1. EC reset where you hold the power button and the - button for 30 seconds (but it does not seem to be working)

2. I opened it up and disconnected the battery (even tried having it be disconnected for a whole day)

3. One thing that allowed my Ally to boot when it first started having issues was letting it get stuck in the loop and let the battery die. It will boot normally after this but the next time I try to power it on, it’s stuck on the loop. I was able to use this workaround for two days, but after I first disconnected the battery, this wouldn’t work anymore.

4. I tried reversing the previous update but it can’t complete since after a restart, it gets stuck in the loop.

My assumptions:

1. This started around 2-3 days after the latest Windows update I did, in which it was working fine.

2. Maybe I need to change my battery?

3. Some sort of hardware issue? Could the SSD be causing this?

Would appreciate any advice :))

I had the onexplayer3 since launch and did not expect to even think about getting the x20 but as soon as I saw it I knew I would get it.

Both absolutely amazing handhelds and don’t get me wrong the power on the g3 extreme is better but not by as much as I thought, especially with Fsr 4.1.
Around 10-20fps more on the oxp3 depending on the game.

As for the oleds believe it or not the x20 wins for me.

Ergonomics the onexplayer is surprisingly comfortable but nothing on the x20. Easily the most comfortable handheld I’ve owned.

Now I need to decide is it ergonomics and the better screen that I want or more power.

I am new to PC gaming (just got my x20) and i understand like nothing. :/

I watched so many youtube Videos, read reddit posts, etc. but all sources seem to assume that you already know about all this stuff. They are just like "you find this option under this menue" without explaining what it actually does. ;/

Maybe you can help me or know a video that explains everything?

What is RSR, RIS, AFMF, CPU-Boost? When do i need what?

What is the difference between setting up the Framerate and setting up framerate limitation? Why would i do that?

Then i keep reading posts about fsr4.2. How and when do i enable/disable fsr4.2? I don't seem to have that option. What even does fsr4.2?

New October Update problems Asus Rog Ally Z1 extreme.

A week or two ago the updates came in,

I went and allowed the updates unknowingly that this was a huge mistake.

The device restarted and Armoury crate asked for the usual settings and I put back my settings just as before the update. Again another restart as normal.

I went to play a game and within 3 min the entire device froze and was emitting a buzzing sound and I had to force shutdown.

Started the game again thinking it was just a bug. The game froze this time within a few minutes and again I had to force shutdown.

I turned off Armoury crate updates and MyAsus software updates too.

Used the DDU tool to uninstall adrenaline and drivers and went back to an old driver I've backed up. Tried a game again and you guessed it same thing happened.

I uninstalled all drivers related to the human interface in the device manager and restarted. Tried a game and it freezes and it reboots the device again on its own.

Thinking it has to be Bios related now. The latest bios is 343 so I drop it to 342. Then in windows I disabled the firmware update in device manager. I made sure to load the bios defaults.

After all this I played a game and I had more than 40min before the same thing happened the game froze and I had to force shut down.

I backed up everything and I'm just going to Cloud recovery and start from scratch. Allow all the updates and test one game and see what happens.

A few days later I had time to do just that All was done I allowed the My Asus and Armoury crate to run as normal

I tried a game and you guessed it, Crashed again.

I did the cloud recovery again and this time I blocked all updates for windows. Then I downloaded the oldest drivers from Asus for the Rog ally. And blocked the My Asus and Armoury crate from installing updates.

And installed a game and it worked for a few days. I hoped it was back to normal and thankfully I had all my files saved to another drive. No crashes, no issues. I slowly allowed Windows updates and kept the My Asus Armoury crate from downloading drivers. It was nice while it lasted.

On the fourth day I got a hypervisor error. The only update was a .Net framework update, And it snowballed from there

Uninstalled the .net framework didn't help. the issues continued.

Then I used the restore health cmd too. But nothing worked.

Windows would just freeze after boot.

This weekend I'm going to bypass the cloud recovery and install an older win 11 from a usb directly and install the oldest drivers and software possible and see where things go.

It's so strange. It has worked normally since I got it even when it updated I never had issues.

Has anyone had similar issues.

(Xbox Ally ROG) my volume up button just randomly stopped working for no resason only my voulme down workes and if i press my volume up hard enough it goses down, has any1 had this issue before i dont know if i should sent it back as it is under warenty also the left trigger is very sqeeky and the right side feels like it is not screwed down fully

Hello I’m just wondering if anyone knows where I can get a 1tb micro 5d card from for under £100 as my old 1tb micro 5d card was cooked by the rog ally and no the 5d card reader on my rog ally works perfectly fine with other micro 5d cards it just cooked my last one I’m in the United Kingdom if that helps and the 5s next to the ds are supposed to be s but it wouldn’t let me post it with the s next to the ds and I have tried to put this in the mega thread but it is locked.

I have Been deciding beetwen the Steam deck and Rog Ally z1 extreme. Now when i am on vacation i saw an Rog Ally z1 extreme at CeX for 340 £ and a 64 gb Steam deck LCD for the same price. I don’t know what to chose if i should wait until i come home or even if it’s worth between any of them. (Grade B I think)

I feel completly split and lost and i don’t want to chose the wrong one. Any input media/video or anything to help me chose is appreciated, have until tomorrow

I've had the ROG Ally X for around a year now, all I have is a basic carrying case (That only fits the rog), now I wanna get accesories for maybe for like comfortability due to the feeling of the bottom of the controller digging into my palm, battery life, maybe a storage upgrade and I wanna start docking it too since I got myself a whole setup for it, any accesories in mind??

Tried out its on-the-go nature on a recent backpacking trip this weekend. 4mi away from civilization. Was worth the carry.

Game is "over the hill" and location is Sheep Canyon in Anza Borrego.

To clarify I'm not talking about the PlayStation remote play app, I'm speaking about the PlayStation Plus app which does natively support Xbox controllers.

Built in Controller briefly worked and now will not work unless I pull the Xbox ally x into Windows mode. I've ensured it's in gamepad mode and that controller mode is clicked within the PS+ App. Any recommendations on getting the controller to work properly? Or some setting or driver I might be missing?

My bf plays on xbox and I have a rog. I'm wondering, if I download the game through xbox app on the rog ally, will I go against pc or against console players? I looked it up but answers are conflicting so I'm just confused. It does say "Valorant PC" on the xbox app thouggh and I am on keyboard and mouse

Trying to play Euro Truck Simulator 2 which I’ve played several times before. Mid playing it suddenly said the controller had disconnected (wasn’t using any external controller so was very confused). I force closed the game and tried loading it back up it now launches in this tiny screen and there still appears to be no input from the buttons. I have absolutely no idea what to do I’ve tried repairing the game files, uninstalling and reinstalling and I honestly am just lost!

I first tried it on my PC and was excited to see how well it plays. I decided then to put it on my Ally X just to test it out, not expecting much, but it's surprisingly quite playable. Enjoyably so. I have it set to the medium preset and 900p with taa enabled. Getting consistently 40fps. Close to 80 fps when I enable lsfg. Had one crash 40 minutes in but I think it was because of lsfg running.

I'm seeing many people posting benchmarks in the 60 and 70fps bracket for this game on the Xbox rog ally X.

I only recently installed it using play anywhere, applied the FSR 4.1 update, switched off RSR, matched their graphical settings exactly, put armoury crate into turbo, VRAM to 10g, and I'm getting sub 30fps benchmarks.

Is the recent Cyberpunk update bugged? Or is there a setting I'm missing?

I have found two ways to use my rog ally X (2024 on steamos). I'm playing AAA (Black Myth Wukong and Cyberpunk) AA (Ghost of Tsushima, Elden Ring) and indie (Moonlighter, Hollow Knight, and Silk Song) games and don't like constantly tweaking settings of each individual game and want to set it 1 profile.

1: performance: framegen on, low settings, FSR 4 set to perform or balanced, 15watt tdp, 3+ hours of battery life.

2: Quality mode: framegen on, high settings, FSR 4 set to Quality, 25 - 30 watt tdp, 1 - 1.5 hours of battery life.

I love the way my quality mode looks but the battery life is way too low for me especially considering I have a 2 hour commute. The performance mode is great on battery life but it just doesn't look as good as the quality. The reflections and shadows give that movie feeling I love. I tried mixing them and ended up with something that was better looking than performance mode and more battery efficient than Quality mode but it just didn't feel like enough in either direction. Which should I use or do you have your own recommendations for settings? I'm open to trying anything.

I love my ROG Xbox Ally so this might seem silly, but I use the Playstation glyph buttons on basically every other console or on my PC, so I was looking if there were any ROG Ally buttons with the Playstation glyphs, or even so if the ROG Xbox Ally had different buttons to the ROG Ally.

I'm having controller input issue on my ASUS ROG Xbox Ally X and I'm wondering if anyone has found a fix.

I'm using an Xbox One S controller connected via Bluetooth. When Steam is running in Big Picture Mode, opening either the Xbox Game Bar overlay or the Armoury Crate SE overlay causes controller inputs to be registered by both the overlay and Steam/Steam game in the background at the same time.

For example, when I navigate the overlay using the controller, Steam Big Picture also navigates in the background. This makes the overlays difficult to use because the same inputs affect two interfaces simultaneously. Embedded Controller is disabled.

Has anyone experienced this and found a way to prevent Steam Big Picture from receiving controller inputs while another overlay is in the foreground?

The problem does not exist when playing on Ally itself with embedded controls.

Any suggestions or workarounds would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

I'm debating on picking one of these up for a upcoming flight and was wondering what you can expect from battery life? Probably would be running games like hades 2 and maybe valheim. I would probably get 2 25000mah fast charging battery packs as well.

Hoping for maybe 5 or 6 hours but I'm not sure from different things Ive read.

Okay so the 74WH battery just got delivered, how do i move forward with this mod?
Any tips or recommendations? also i need an aluminium heat shield or thats optional? or can i remove the one from the original battery and use it on this
and if i should keep something in mind while working on, open to opinion and recommendations
