Starting IOP program
Cross posted. Has anyone opened their own IOP program. What's it like? How do you start?

I'm seeing an active duty service member who's retiring and moving out of state in about 8 months. He has PTSD and intense social anxiety since age 5. He also drinks heavily but is not interested in changing this. We've been working together for a year and have completed TF-CBT. It was very difficult for him. His anxiety is a bit better. He has been asking me about how we can explore the origins of his anxiety and alcohol abuse as well as get him ready for retirement regarding management of his anxiety and alcohol use without the structure of the past 20 plus years.
We've alluded to the idea that what happened when he suddenly began abusing alcohol at age 17 may have been related to an existential crisis precipitated by remembering a traumatic event from age 5.
Ok. I'm asking if you were seeing him, would you put him through another protocol or just stick with the experiential approach? Maybe start practicing emotional regulation activities?
Sorry. I just really want to help him. Thank you.

Hi all,
Need your advice. I have been practicing for the past couple of years after a long break. I would like to get trained in different therapies that might add to my skills. I'm thinking of schema therapy. What are your thoughts about it? And how does one get trained in trauma informed CBT?.
I'm curious about which modality you guys hold close to your heart and why? If so, how can someone from a SE Asian country get trained in it. The conversion rates at the moment are crazy!!!

Do you call or use your regular phone number with clients or potential clients or do you prefer to use a separate phone or number like a Google number? Why?
Ever any issues with initial consults off say psychology today that kept calling you or former clients where you had to change your phone number?

I’ve used the Heaton-NAB forever… I know I likely should but I have a hard time reconciling how similar above average and high average (same for below average and low average) might sound/associated confusion for docs/patients

Hi,
Like the title says I have a very small part-time private practice, I see about 10 patients and a staff member sees about 10 patients too. I got a letter in the mail from Aetna saying that I’m required to do an annual Medicare compliance program and attestation.
I took a closer look at this and I need to login, complete a training, possibly have the other staff complete a training, distribute a of conduct and complete attestation by October 31
it says it’s to stay compliant with Medicare regulations, and I must do it because I participate in Aetna Medicare advantage
has anyone seen this before? It seems legitimate, but it seems quite onerous.
just want to check if others have done this and if it’s really onerous, considering our practice is so small
thanks!

Hey everyone!
I'm a provisionally registered psychologist in Australia (becoming generally registered in January 2027) and I wanted to assess the viability of moving to the UK as a psychologist.
I have a bachelors degree in psychological science, an advanced diploma in psychology, an honours degree in psychology and a masters in professional psychology. I am currently completed my 1 year internship year as a provisionally registered psychologist in occupational mental health return to work. Throughout my masters degree, I completed many placements covering assessment and intervention for people across the lifespan and with disability.
The information I'm seeing online is really confusing me and I'm not sure my qualifications and experience may grant me eligibility to practice in the UK.
Any help would be appreciated! Thank you in advance :)

Hi everyone,
I really need some honest advice on changing my career path. I have a Master’s degree in Clinical Psychology and a Post-Graduate Diploma, but I have been without a job for almost a year now. The job market is making me feel very lost and stressed.
Most of the job listings I see are for working with children or doing ABA therapy. These jobs pay very low (around 25k a month) for a huge amount of hard work. I know for sure that I do not want to work with kids or do ABA therapy. At the same time, there are almost no job openings for working with adults in clinics or hospitals. Starting my own private clinic right now is just too difficult for fresh graduates
Because of this, I want to look for jobs outside of clinical therapy. For anyone who moved from psychology into other fields like HR, market research, content writing, or corporate jobs, how did you make that shift?
What practical skills or short courses should I learn to get hired for non-clinical or remote jobs? I would really appreciate any simple advice, ideas, or personal stories. Thank you so much!

We have been getting a lot of reports/complaints backchannel about posts related to working for VC/PE platforms. I'll leave it up to majority vote. Do you want these threads allowed or removed?

I just need to say out loud to someone who may understand: Q-Global is hands down the absolute worst part of my job and I struggle to understand how it is ALWAYS as bad as it is. I am constantly surprised by new and exciting ways it is unnavigable, convoluted, and generally just terrible.

I miss having work friends. I’m a clinical psychologist doing C&P evaluations. I’m interested in creating a small group of C&P evaluators, maybe a group chat or one on one chats, to commiserate, consult, vent, etc.

Anyone know what’s up with Grow using “Medallion “ to credential therapists? I thought CAQH was supposed to eliminate this sort of redundancy.
Why does Medallion need a copy of my passport? Who are they and what are they doing with this information? Is it a scam?

Hi. I'm wondering if there are any CE'S or resources for doing this work. Always looking for ways to improve. Aside from CE'S focusing on specific mental illnesses, I haven't found any that are relevant to this kind of work.

With the increase of insurance companies owning or partnering with online platforms, is anyone else concerned they will cease paying for virtual therapy unless providers join their platforms? (And pay is $20-30 per session vs current insurance rates?)
