Remember, even if you don't fxck with politics, politics fxcks with you. Vote and bring some sort of sanity back to America!
23
u/Caerllen 1d ago
The Universal version of that is:
"You might not care about politics but politics care about you."
If youre not gonna spell profanities fully, you might as well use the Disney version of it. Otherwise, its fucking pointless

u/Ahgd374 1d ago
I personally love the ice cream explanation. It goes something like this:
You are in a van with 8 others
2 vote to stop for ice cream
3 vote to drive off a cliff
4 decide they don’t want to choose
You are all driving off a cliff
6
u/AlternativePea6203 1d ago
No, you miss the point. "4 don't vote because they think the choice IS SO OBVIOUS"
They agree with the first 2. They just don't bother.

Hey Americans. Does the Declaration of Independence come into play if Congress is taken back but the regime ignores any efforts to oust them? I mean, they have ignored laws, court orders, and even the Constitution.
"...But when a long train of abuses and usurpations, pursuing invariably the same Object evinces a design to reduce them under absolute Despotism, it is their right, it is their duty, to throw off such Government, and to provide new Guards for their future security."
So what happens if impeachment passes and he doesn't leave? Who is going to actually enforce it? The regime controls FBI, DHS, DOJ,... etc.
6
u/Competitive-Option12 1d ago
The Declaration is exactly what it sounds like: it declares the reasons for why the colonies seceded from the British Empire. It has no legal binding effect. It's evidence that the Founding Fathers would have supported overthrowing a dictatorship, but in the abscence of binding legal authority it's probably not enough to make it legal.
As to what happens if impeachment passes and he doesn't leave? No idea. There's nothing in the Constitution that addresses that scenario.
4
u/dave04atm 1d ago
Impeachment doesn’t mean the president leaves office. You need 2/3rds to vote for removal, and that ain’t happening.
2
u/Simpleximo 1d ago
These are Republicans, they will turn on anyone in a heartbeat, even Trumpty Dumpty.
0
u/KuningasTynny77 1d ago
Why would the Declaration come into play ever
Impeachment is a majority vote in the house to charge a president with a crime. The impeached are not inherently removed from office. If an impeachment is successful, the Senate then tries the accused, and if the jury (senators) make a 2/3 vote that the accused is guilty, then they are removed from office. That is why Trump is still around after 2 impeachments.

This is one of the most influential acts that Americans can take in our countries history.
Trump's BBB that he passed increased the deaths of innocent Americans by at least 51,000 per year. With most of those deaths happening to Trump supporters who rely on the programs that he has cut the most.
America has never been under threat as much as it has under Criminal Terrorist Trump.

I do wonder if folks realize that Trump will still be president for 2 more years whether Dems win congress or not.
In fact Dems flipping congress does almost nothing to derail Trump, who rules by Executive Order and Judicial Corruption.
Dems flipping the SENATE would at least stop the flow of new corrupt judges.
4
4
u/Rombonius 1d ago
The Senate is part of Congress
> does almost nothing to derail Trump, who rules by Executive Order
Executive Orders cant do much without funding, they only have teeth with the GOP acting as a rubber stamp in the legislative branch
4
u/ThePlaystation0 1d ago
Don't they ignore the budget set by Congress too though? I recall seeing articles that they aren't releasing money to things that Congress approved while also allocating funds by EO that weren't approved by Congress

I talked to someone the other day who thought midterms were primaries for the presidential year general elections. Voters realize very little in general
1
u/Agarwel 1d ago
One can only naively hope - but in there is really big blue wave, I would say that it may be eye opener to many republicans - the message that if they want to have any chance in the two years, they have to get their s**t together and get rid of people that are dragging them down. And hopefully it may lead to some changes. Because yeah... they will be in the white house for next two years. But if they dont, at least, start pretending that are normal people, these may be last two years for a long time.

Hungary’s opposition succeeded by taking a different approach from the ruling party.
The Tisza Party won because:
-
The economy was struggling.
-
Many voters were disillusioned with Viktor Orbán.
-
Most importantly, Tisza avoided engaging in a culture war with Orbán and focused on broader concerns instead of issues such as his efforts to ban Budapest Pride.
If the Democrats repeat everything they did in 2024, there will be no difference in the outcome because public opinion on many culture-war issues tends to favor the right.

I think when he loses Congress, he will resign or go for the coup immediately, I don’t think there’s going to be an in between in this case
6
u/ResistLife 1d ago
Or he will just continue on as he has been. Rulings by EO faster than congress would act on them. And vetoing things they pass he doesnt like.
1
u/ceretullis 1d ago
Congress doesn’t need to act on executive orders, they are not laws. They are policies for the executive branch. Granted they can have wide impacts because it turns out many organizations in the US government fall under the executive branch.
1
u/ResistLife 1d ago
I mean act as in counter them or determine them to be unlawful. Althought i guess thats maybe the supreme courts job.
From the outaide they really seem to be royal degrees coming from the joke the us government has become. Gulf of America and Lake America indeed lmao

Not trusting American voters to make positive decisions.

If the Republicans win then there are two clear problems:
-
They cheated
-
Propaganda
The Americans need to demand better in the long term from both sides.
Therefore call a general strike 🪧 support your community in the short term to ensure everyone is fed and watered, politicians need to be scared of their people again, not the other way around.

Went to vote last Friday after work and a dude power walked from behind me, patted my shoulder and asked if I was ready to vote republican.
Turned towards him and said F no with a smile.
He proceeds to power walk in front of me while saying "you need to wake up boy". Only further encouraging me to vote blue down the board.

Here’s my hard read; blue wave doesn’t hit immediately as Musk and Thiel still attempt to steal the midterms while shifting the blame to lower level Trump team members, it’ll be probably a year before everything is worked out and the democrats are actually in the seats they won, in the mean time John Robert’s has insulated Trump and laid to ground work for his pardon and escape to Russia which will be fast and quiet, he won’t finish out his presidential term but he will still claim the presidency somehow from a foreign land but still he will AND he’ll still have a base that supports him as a president because they will think he was robbed by the demons from another dimension, Democrats, in the mean time we’ll start to see the MAGA leadership piecemealed out, some will go to prison, a lot of them will die mysteriously and most of them will vanish only to reappear, that’s right, under a foreign government be that Russia, Pakistan, Israel, whichever. The most annoying thing about it will be the grifters squeezing the last penny out of the Trumpeters while everyone else points and laughs. They will be an apology tour, don’t buy it. DO NOT BUY THE SYMPATHY TOUR.
1
u/LimeGrass619 19h ago
America did beat an oppressive regime. At least with Tru.p you can go outside. Going outside was the thing that helps MAGA more popular.

2
u/ThisIsMyComment2 1d ago
Israel is literally first though, their election is tomorrow, it precedes the US election.
0
u/kevendo 1d ago
It shouldn't be, but it is our problem. Controversy over their genocide in Gaza was central to putting Trump back in office in 2024.
They are a primary reason for the war in Iran. Bibi himself was an aggressive motivator for the US starting the war.
And their PAC is a major funder for US political campaigns ... of both parties, truth be told.
Ousting Bibi would be another in the line of Sebia and Brazil.

The initial premise is totally wrong here. There was no three "did it". Only Brazil did. The European countries are failing to resist foreign interference.

Lula Is banning social media, and somehow he is not autoritarian. Insanity
4
u/cowi3 1d ago
i heard his remarks, he didnt say brasil was going to ban socail media, he did say they would combat it though, and they should, we all should be telling zuckerfuck and husk to go kick rocks.
1
u/Nick_Blcor 21h ago
Social media are private entities and should regulate themselves and by fair rules, democracy don't give the right to censor opposition, that's fascism.
2
u/Ninetailedredpanda 1d ago
If the authoritarians were not actively using social media as their personal propaganda environment, then yeah big problem.
When there is no way to separate the disease from the host, quarantine sounds perfectly logical.
Lets not pretend society cannot manage if their social media gets turned off. We will be absolutely fine.
1
u/Nick_Blcor 21h ago
Who is in power? Why we support authoritarian leaders and disregard democracy just because we feel good? I don't get it

Yeah except it literally won't do anything.
6
u/Kazureigh_Black 1d ago
Doing nothing instead will certainly solve the problem.
-4
u/TowelStandard760 1d ago
Okay what will it do. There's no chance at impeachment and removal. They can quote unquote quasi slow the agenda but the US is not like other countries.
5
u/Ninetailedredpanda 1d ago
You do the next right thing. Then the next, then the next.
Nothing gets fixed all at once, its a series of choices in the correct direction leading to where we want things to be.
Sitting down and doing nothing is the second worst thing. So if its a choice between a symbolic gesture that might not be as effective as you want, nothing which is obviously ineffective, and making things even worse which is counter productive why would you not go with the first choice every time?
2
u/Lazy-Course5521 1d ago

u/ImTheGuitarMan 1d ago

2
u/SakeWad 1d ago
You think the "back and forth" politics is bad? Wait until you see how it feels living in a society where government no longer cares about even an illusion of democracy and embraces autocracy. How can people not see how much worse that will be? Look at Russia or North Korea, you seriously prefer that? Trust me, there is a difference.
1
u/ImTheGuitarMan 1d ago
No, I don't prefer that, but at least people are completely aware of their state in those countries, minus North Korea which is a different animal. That gives hope for change or revolution. They have perfected the divide and conquer strategy in the west, which means no real change will likely ever happen, and the people of America will continue to fight and hate each other for the rest of the foreseeable future.
