Baby is transverse...

• Upvotes

Im currently 31 weeks and at my latest US the beginning of this month baby was transverse/side laying. She was head down at my anatomy scan which definitely gave me a false sense of hope I guess 🥲 this is my second pregnancy. I had a natural delivery with my first, and she was transverse for the longest time but for some reason im extremely nervous this time around that this baby isnt going to flip and ill end up with a section 🥲 anyone have any words of encouragement or advice on how to get baby to flip head down? Or anyone else experience this?

Belly bump?

I’m curious of when you noticed your baby bump with an apron belly. I can’t tell if it’s my baby or I just gained weight. My lower belly feels hard when I press on it while further up feel squishy all the way through. But I don’t see an evident bump. I am 17 weeks and 2 days.

Feeling like I won’t get a baby shower again

My first baby was a planned baby shower when I was 33 weeks pregnant. I ended up delivering my baby the day of my baby shower. I invited so many people. Most of them said they were going to come. One person came to the hospital to give me my gift. I received nothing else from anyone. I’m not saying I want gifts, that’s not the point of it. It just makes me wonder if people were actually going to show up as I cancelled the day before and wasn’t sent a card, gift, nothing.

I’m now pregnant with my second and I’m making it a point to not take over and plan it myself. I did with my first because for some reason my family is great at doing it for my sisters, but not me. I’m the younger so maybe that’s why? Idk.

I’m now 18 weeks pregnant. I have mentioned in the beginning that I’d want a baby shower probably at 30 weeks this time around just because of the chances it may happen again.

I know 12 weeks to plan a baby shower is very much overkill, but no one has brought it up once. My sisters have both had two baby showers for their children. Nice ones that I helped plan. I feel like it’s crickets for me. Maybe after the holidays someone will ask, but I’m not sure what to do at this point.

Tips to help with my Bp this time around?

Hi everyone! I just found out I’m pregnant a few days ago with my second baby! My husband and I are ecstatic after trying for 7 months! I’m basically the same weight I was with my first pregnancy (194lbs 5’4”) though I brought it down to 185 earlier this year then my dog died and I basically gained the weight back then we got pregnant!

Anyway, my pregnancy was pretty much smooth sailing the first time around UNTIL the 3rd trimester. Then I kept gaining weight when it should have slowed, my Bp kept teetering on high and was diagnosed with gestational hypertension, then I was induced 2 weeks early because of the hypertension and ended up back in the hospital a week later with postpartum Pre-e.

I know I should have put more effort into getting healthier this last year but life happens. Anyway I’m obviously not trying to lose weight now but I want to focus on being healthier this pregnancy. Healthier meals, more exercise (mostly walks and park visits, nothing extreme), etc. but I’m wondering if anyone has any other tips or anything I could bring up at my first OB appt. Especially any low sodium recipe suggestions. I’m a sucker for instant ramen and of course I went and stocked up right before I found out I was pregnant 😢

Any tips or stories of your own about gestational hypertension and what you did would be much appreciated!

VBAC Stories

Currently 22 weeks with baby #2. PCOS, infertility, BMI over 40.

My first baby was born via c section because she was measuring over 11lbs at 38 weeks. She came out 9lbs 2oz.

My OB wants me to decide if I want to schedule a C-section or try for VBAC for baby 2.

I have no clue which route to go. I’ve made pros and cons lists. She’s given me all the facts on both. I just can’t decide which way I want to go. She says my odds of success are around 50% for VBAC. I want more kids after this too. Maybe 1 or 2 more. I had zero complications with prior c section.

Can anyone who had a similar situation share what decision you made and why? If your VBAC was successful or not?

Heart monitor

Hi everyone! I’m currently 17 weeks pregnant and have been experiencing heart flutters, dizziness that comes and goes, occasional shortness of breath, and pressure under my left breast. My doctors have suggested wearing a 7-day Holter monitor & scheduling an appointment with a cardiologist because all my blood work came back normal. I’m honestly really scared and worried about my heart, especially because I have a toddler and another baby on the way. Has anyone experienced similar symptoms during pregnancy? Did you wear a Holter monitor, and did you get answers? I know everyone’s situation is different, but I could really use some reassurance and hear about others’ experiences. ❤️

To those over 36 with PCOS - How many cycles did it take to conceive?

Hi all! I’m 36 and a half, 240 lbs, have PCOS and a small fibroid. My cycles are around six weeks long, but I seem to ovulate each month (according to the LH strip tests). My hormone tests two years ago were reassuring and I conceived once in my mid-20s but didn’t continue with the pregnancy.

I’m debating whether to start trying now or wait three months to lose around 20 lbs first. For those aged 35+, particularly those with PCOS or a higher BMI, how many cycles did it take you to conceive? I’d love to hear your experiences, especially if you delayed trying to lose weight first!

If it really does like a long time to conceive then I might aswell start trying next month.

does anyone have tips on how to feel pretty while dealing with changes

I was at my biggest when I got pregnant and have of course gained a decent amount of weight during this pregnancy. I’m only 24 weeks but I feel so unattractive with all the changes to my body, and on top of that I feel just nasty constantly. Like with constant burping, weird smells, excessive “fluids”, being sick every few weeks, etc idk I just feel like I am the ugliest nastiest sack of flour ever to exist. Not to mention, none of my clothes fit properly so I dress like Adam Sandler daily.

I know this is a self esteem issue and I keep reminding myself that my body is doing what it’s supposed to and growing a whole human but I’m just wondering if anyone has tips on how to feel pretty/more like themselves

Anyone else upset about baby shower??

VENT

I invited over 50 people to my baby shower, not only did people cancel the day of and 2 days before, but only 12 people showed up 2 being friends and not immediate family. My shower became a whole mess with my sisters fighting before, during, and after. (Because one sister was left setting up all by herself out of 4 sisters). A ton of money spent (that I was reminded of) that didn’t need to be, and it becoming out of my control on what was going on. Even invitations being extremely late to the point I had to make a social media invite and ditch sending them out because I was given them 20 days before my shower which could be why no one came. If I knew it would have been this small I wouldn’t have gotten a venue or even had a physical one at all.

It’s just so sad because family said they didn’t come to my last babies shower because it was so far away and so I made this one so much more accessible to people. And less people showed up to this one. I begged people to not get me certain things as I’m having another boy and have everything from my last baby. They didn’t listen and I got a ton of unnecessary things with tags ripped off of them. So I can’t return them…and have over $300 of stuff I actually need left on my registry. I’m feeling so defeated and unsupported. My husband had his sister and one friend show up for him, the rest were my siblings, parents and one friend. My own best friend didn’t show up. My husband’s parents came dropped off a gift and left. We prepared for 50 people, paid for 50 people and a quarter showed up.

Repeat Blood for NIPT

I had my blood drawn on 10/19 for NIPT at 10 weeks and 2 days.

I just called to ask them why I still haven’t seen results. They said initially there was a delay due to required information missing. That was resolved on 10/22, and that’s when my blood was first tested. The genetic counselor team member said the blood went in for a retest just before the weekend.

That has sent me into a full blown spiral. What would be the reason to retest and is it bad? I’m a first time mom and very anxious.

BMI 40+

Any recommendations for plus-size friendly midwives in Mississauga, Ontario?

Hi everyone!

I am located in Mississauga, Ontario, and I am looking for recommendations for plus-size friendly midwives or midwifery practices in the area.

I really want to find a provider who practices weight-neutral care, focuses on my health rather than just the number on the scale, and will make me feel safe, supported, and respected throughout my pregnancy and birth.

If you have used a midwife or practice in Mississauga (or nearby areas like Brampton or Oakville) that gave you an amazing, compassionate experience, I would love to hear about them!

Thank you so much in advance!

NIPT concerns

TW// child loss, kinda

So I’m 13 weeks today, and want to get my NIPT done asap.

The problem is, my pregnancy began with twins, one of which stopped developing around 6 weeks ago. (It’s fine, I’m fine) ((Other baby is also fine))

My GP, OB and midwives have advised me that an NIPT test can be inconclusive/incorrect due to the second babies DNA still being in my womb.

What are my options? It’s all really confusing.

I’m getting an early morph and was offered an NT but I feel like this don’t rule out things the way the NIPT does.

I REALLY don’t want the needle in my stomach test, idk what it’s called but eff that.

Pls help a girl out xx

Maternity clothes are going to push me over the edge

I am currently 22 weeks with my second, and somehow clothing my pregnant body is even worse this time.

I pop early with my kids, so I’ve been in maternity clothes by the end of the first trimester both times. I am a size 18/XL when I’m not pregnant.

My first pregnancy, I lost about 20 lbs overall due to HG. Most of the XL sized maternity clothes I found were still small on me. Don’t even get me started on finding bras for what rapidly became my 38Fs. I cried several times about how I was apparently the fattest person to ever be pregnant because I could not find anything that fit me, even when I was technically smaller than I was before I got pregnant.

Now, I started this pregnancy about the same weight but in much better shape. I didn’t really lose anything and have actually gained a little because I’m not as sick this time, so I’m about 10-15 lbs heavier now than during my first pregnancy. Everything is too big. I have a penguin crotch in everything. I got a cute pair of maternity jeans I was so excited about, and by the end of the day they stretched out so much they were basically falling off.

I don’t want to size down, because what if I keep gaining weight this time and need it? But then what am I supposed to wear in the meantime?

There is nowhere to try maternity clothes in person anymore. All I’m wearing are bike shorts and baggy sweatshirts and I feel like a sloppy mess.

6.5 weeks pregnant, overweight, and feeling a little discouraged by doctors. Could use some support ❤️

Hi everyone!

I just need to vent a little because I feel I cannot bother my husband for 25th time today (he is a true support though!)
I’m currently 6.5 weeks pregnant, weigh around 250 lbs, and have Hashimoto’s. Before getting pregnant, my TSH was extremely high and almost impossible to get below 10, even with aggressive treatment. It was a long journey for us to get here, so this pregnancy (the first one) means a lot to me.
Since finding out I’m pregnant, my TSH has finally dropped below 1, which feels like a huge win! I have no diabetes, prediabetes, liver issues, or high cholesterol, my blood pressure is on the lower side, and so far, everything looks reassuring regarding the baby.
I know my weight can come with certain risks, and I’m not trying to ignore that.

What’s been difficult is that the doctors I’ve seen recently seem to focus almost entirely on my weight and immediately bring up things like preeclampsia and preterm birth, GD. I understand they need to discuss potential risks, but I wish there were a little more balance, especially when there are also positive things to consider.

Where I live, people can be quite judgmental toward women, and sometimes I feel that attitude carries over into healthcare, too. I leave appointments feeling more anxious than when I arrived, which is not exactly what you need during early pregnancy!
We worked really hard for this baby, especially with all the struggles we had getting my thyroid levels under control. Now that things are finally looking better, I just want to enjoy being pregnant without constantly worrying that something will go wrong.

I’m not looking for anyone to tell me there are no risks or that everything will definitely be perfect. I just want to feel that my overall health is being considered and that I can discuss potential risks without leaving every appointment feeling discouraged even though there are reasons to be happy.

How did you guys deal with doctors who tried to put you down because of the weight only?

I’d really appreciate hearing your experiences. I think I could use a little reassurance and some positive stories right now. ❤️

Apron belly c-section tip

Ask for a negative pressure wound therapy (PICO / Wound Vac)! Not standard in every hospital so ask your doctor if you know you’re having a C-section. I had with my first and it was essential to keep the scar clean and helped with pain too.

Planned c-section

I am 31 weeks pregnant with twins, and I had an OB appointment today and asked her what she recommended as far as delivery, and she said that a C-section would probably be best. I have an apron belly and am terrified of infection, but she said they probably wouldn’t cut me under my apron belly and that they would do it straight up and down my stomach instead. Has anyone experienced this type of “cut”? If so, what was your experience like, and how did healing go?

Leggings

Hi all, I’m looking for brand recommendations for plus size leggings! A couple years ago, I found a pair at tjmaxx and I LOVED THEM! Wore them so much, they had holes :/ unfortunately, without thinking I threw them away without figuring out the brand and I can’t remember the logo or anything. So I’m back at square 1 of looking for leggings, I wore them all through my first pregnancy and they weren’t maternity so I don’t care if the brand is maternity or not!

Hit me with your fav brands!!

EDIT: I forgot to say, I am infact pregnant and wear a size US 24-26!

First PP period, not breastfeeding

Hi there!

Just wondering when those you who did not breastfeed, got your first pp period. I am almost 10 weeks postpartum and still have not started yet and google has me a little nervous about it. I feel like with my oldest, I got it back fairly quickly (around 6-8 weeks)
