Hi all!
Maybe this could just be titled the āSeasonal Newsletterā. 𤣠Anywho, just wanted to touch on some things that have frequently come up in the mod queue and overall in the sub.
First of all! CONGRATS TO YOU ALL. We reached 100k+ members recently and weāre happy to see the growth of the sub overall. š
tl;dr: Remember to still follow the rules as the seasons change and overall. Links in posts or comments MUST BE PLUS SIZE INCLUSIVE. If it doesnāt at the very minimum go up to a 3X, we donāt want it. And please, no booty shots. Save it for your camera roll.
Now, hold onto your seatbelts as we address a few things. š¬
With fall coming up (for the northerners), that means the ever infamous Halloween costumes will be making their debut. We love to seem them BUT they still need to comply with sub rules.
This means no heavily sexualized costumes, lingerie (we know youāre a hardcore girlā¦āduh Iām a mouseā), or nudity (actual or implied). Costumes need to be rated E, for everyone. If you wouldnāt answer the door to pass out candy in itā¦please reconsider posting it here. Thank you!
For our southern friends, swimsuits will be coming out of the closet and as always we do allow them here with our specific rules in mind. No booties out, no see through items, and no barely there looks. Act like youāre going to Disney, not a nude beach. š¬
Another hot topic that we are going to crack down more on. Links that you share MUST BE PLUS SIZE INCLUSIVE. The bare absolute minimum would be at least to a 3X. But please, if you are posting a link that only offers up to a size XL, itās frankly, not helpful. If you can find a similar product that has extended size ranges then by all means, share that to help. But we really need to be more intentional with our links and posts that we share.
And personally, I totally get fitting into a range of sizes. I can even sometimes wear a L up top. But I also know, those photos I take wearing it, donāt need to be shared here. While we canāt police every item that someone chooses to wear and/or post. We challenge some to think before posting. If what you are wearing/sharing is a XL and you know this, share it to r/midsizefashion.
When most people post, others are understandably going to want to know where you get things from. Thatās the whole point of the sub. But when it doesnāt even come in their size rangeā¦itās kind of a waste. I canāt even tell you the amount of times Iāve clicked a link for a cute dress only to see it goes up to an XL and get so defeated. And Iām what some would consider the lower end of plus size. Itās hard out here. Letās help each other out.
I donāt say this to be rude or mean but to just get people to think a little and to please be more intentional and inclusive.
And to bounce off the topic of intentionality, please, please, please. Stop posting your booties. We canāt see the actual outfit half the time.
Unless itās a photo of you frolicking through a field of flowers in a magical dress, or thereās so much intricate detail that just needs to be shared thatās on the back of your shirt. We donāt need to see a photo of you from behind. Of course those are just examples but you get the point.
Please just be mindful of what you post. It makes the sub flow smoothly and makes our days as mods just a little bit easier.
As always, we are open to feedback and any questions you have. Happy season changes and we are excited to see the sub continue to grow!
Cheers š„

Now that itās fall, Iām breaking out my Ruth Bader Ginsburg jumper, long sleeve shirt and heavy duty tights.
I love the loose fit and the fact that it slips easily over my head.
This jumper never fails to elicit comments (surprisingly, all positive) and compliments from strangers.
Do you have any beloved articles of clothing that you wear that starts discussions with strangers and friends?

Help a girl out. I have a wedding next week. Dress code is ācocktail, LBD, snazzy jumpsuitā. I think this is funky enough that itās not too fancy, but worried itās too much. I do love the way it looks on me and itās very comfortable/good quality. I got for a steal, as well. Any suggestions on accessories would be completely appreciated!

Obsessed with these new pants I got at Target?? They fit extremely well and arenāt too baggy, itās hard to find good ones when youāre short and plus size.
Size 24, 5ā2ā
Jean top is thrifted, but wrangler brand, and Iām 90% sure from the menās section.

I'm 3 weeks on from trying to wear a pair of my snag tights I bought last year and still have a rash / bruising from the gusset.
These were Huggy compression tights and I think I may have had them on back to front but the pain was so bad I had to buy a new pair of tights and change while I was out. You could see this line of red skin through the black 40 denier tights š
Anyone else had this experience? I am surprised at how bad tights could be!

Iāve been plus size for a long time so Iāve made my own costumes until fairly recently. Hereās a selection of some.
Max from Where the Wild Things Are was made from a gray sweatshirt & sweatpants and a homemade polar fleece crown.
Batgirl used an old Catwoman pattern and was sewn from stretch crushed velvet. The belt is made of yellow bathing suit-like material with vinyl boxes, self-drafted cape, and purchased gloves. The ābootsā are more like spats made from black vinyl.
Daphne from Scooby-Doo used a generic long-sleeved dress pattern in purple wool (very warm to wear) with purple ribbon for the hip stripe and headband. I made felt covers for the shoes. Scarf was thrifted.
Robin was made from three XXL shirts sewn together. The skirt is the trunk of a T-shirt. Self-drafted cape. Ben Affleck commented on this photo when I posted it to Instagram (!)
Beth from Dog the Bounty Hunter is all my own clothes (!) and a bad wig with childrenās police props.
Luckily they make A League of Their Own costumes in plus size. I was able to match my co-workers for a group effort. Whew!

I'm wondering if anyone else has this issue, where Torrid pants across the board whether its jeans or leggings, are awkwardly large in the crotch and frumpy shaped in the back? Is it how I'm built or is it a quality issue?

I SAY chilly, but it's not really. It's actually pretty perf imo (16°C). I took my wee dog boy for a walk and saw some really flippin pretty flowers and trees.

I really want to wear shorter skirts but I got unlucky and most of proportions are in the apron. Iād like to hide as much as possible. Any ideas on how to style a miniskirt and other similar lengths to hide it? Thank you!

back when the latest spider man movie came out, marvel released their own version of the juicy couture track pants from the film and I couldnāt resist. I had to get my hands on them. Ive had my pair for a few months but itās been too warm to wear them. This weekend the weather finally turned and I wore them to run errand. This outfit is simple but I felt really cute and comfortable

Finally got a chance to wear my new dress by Blackwood Castle. This photo does not do the dress justice it is so silky, comfortable, and makes me feel pretty.

As a plus size woman or feminine clothing enjoyer, what would you wear to adoption court?
We have foster children that we are hoping to adopt early next year or at least start the process for it at that time. Nothing is certain yet, but I like to have an idea early since sometimes it takes a lot of time to find clothing that are flattering and fit well for my body shape. I have a bit of an apron belly. TIA! :)
I enjoy soft colors like sage or blush pink, and tend to opt for more baggy pants/flowey skirts.

As someone that loves Lord of the Rings, I was really happy to find this one on discount at a local store:) It is from the official brand though, so it'll probably be sold in a variery of international stores.
