You can press out tofu with just your hands.

I don't make stuff with tofu often but every now and again I do.

I pretty much always do the freeze/thaw thing with firm/extra firm because I like the texture impact.

Last time I made it though I realized I didn't have any way to press it - tossed the dedicated press in my last move, and the plates we have now aren't really shaped for it. So I just took the whole block and squeezed it out over the sink, simple as. Took like a minute for two blocks, plenty dry.

I proceeded to use way too much cornstarch when I fried it but that's a different issue I suppose.

People ask me what do you eat as a vegan, and what do you eat when you’re travelling?

Well the best thing is, I’m well prepared ;)
Menorca to UK, land and sea!

Air-fried tofu, oyster mushrooms and sweet potato, lentil pasta with chilli, Celtic salt and extra virgin oil, salad and home grown mung bean sprouts, all wrapped homemade quinoa/ spinach wraps.
Our Vietnamese chilli powder from our trip in February, will blow your head off!

Absolutely delicious and nutritious!
Kept fridge cool in our travel/picnic cool bag, well iced and able ti preserve for 48 hours!

Plant Based Diet Health Benefits

As far as anyone knows (I'm not asking for health diagnoses or anything) does a PBD help deter dementia in older people? It seems to run in my family, and I'd like to avoid it if at all possible. I'm just wondering if there is any research on this. Thanks!

Beginner here

I apologize, in advance, if these types of posts are overdone here.

I have spent most of my life willfully ignorant of politics, climate change, and factory farming. I was suffering greatly with my mental health and just trying to survive. But now, I’m trying to find myself for the first time in my life.

In an effort to live more authentically, I have grown increasingly concerned with the health of our planet, the state of American politics, and the cruelty associated with factory farming.

So I want to start eating a more plant-based diet. My plan is to start slow and gather recipes as I go so I can create a sustainable lifestyle. I will probably continue to eat some meat from a local farm where the animals live out happy lives till the end. And I don’t feel ready to give up dairy completely but I want to make serious efforts to reduce my carbon footprint and lessen the amount I’m complacent in factory farming.

I’ve done some research for meat swaps and I have a few plant-based and vegetarian meals to try this week.

- General Tso Glazed Soy Curls w/ rice & roasted broccoli
- Black bean burgers & fries
- And I bought Beyond Breakfast Sausage & Morning Star Chick’n Nuggets

What are some tips you would give to beginners? What are some of your go-to meals?
What do you wish you would’ve known sooner?

Thank you!
