I changed the body a little bit because the first one is a bit chonky and idk which is better; I also change the color to be more saturated. Idk if this is good or not. For me it does good because of critiques. I'm still open for critiques for my attempt 2.

I’m actually proud of this one (that blue stuff coming out of it was supposed to be a shadow, but I was in a rush)

i have zero knowledge about either pixel art or illustrating a book so this was a journey of trial and error. My daughter LOVES the song"ho visto un re" by Enzo Jannacci, so i decided to illustrate a book based on the lyrics of the song, i did follow many tutorials online on how to draw things, but before printing it im gonna need some criticism, what i did wrong, what can be done differently, how can i improve.
Thanks!!

Heyo! Today I spent my free time trying to draw in a sort of top-down perspective. This was my best attempt... I think you can tell by looking at it because it's so simple, but the second I attempt to add more detail or more complex shapes, it all goes south... I'm struggling to draw characters other than blocky ones at such a small resolution(this is 32x32). Anyway, still proud of it since I was feeling a bit lazy and wanted to skip, but once I started, I actually enjoyed the hour that I spent trying.
