Apologies but I have to correct this. The game will not be emulated If it's decompiled, it will be running natively.

94

u/Due_Dragonfly_5328 13d ago

yeah but its funny AF and saying emulated adds to the impact.

9

u/DoctorWaluigiTime 13d ago

And they won't be distressed. They'll be lounging on their giant piles of cash.

-6

u/Lopsided-Wave2479 13d ago

Sorta?, like if the game is still calling PS5 functions or methods, from the game perspective is still running inside a PS5.

It would be like Wine (the Linux windows emulator). Wine stands for "Wine Is Not an Emulator”.

Games like GTA6 may run on very powerful PC's on a scheme where the game think is running on PS5, with PS5 limitations, but is actually run trough a emulation layer that call Windows API's.

That makes no sense whatsoever lol

It says both about any ps5 and kyty

-3

u/Ifriendzonecats 13d ago

No. Think about it. Companies have the source code to their own games. If it was that easy then companies could easily port any game to any system.

3

u/DeadoTheDegenerate 13d ago

Regardless of your perspective, a recomp is still native.

I'm about to play Cyberpunk for the first time, I think GTA is going to wait for a few years before I get around to it.

Shoutout r/patientgamers

11

u/harrisrainy 13d ago

patientgamers are the way, cause we just wait till all the updates and dlc come out like after year. Am just playing restory damn jus 1gb that's so fun than any aaa games I had this year. More like games are being made wo any quality or making that wo any love. Don't understand why this peeps begging for a game that came out that have poor perf and stuck with that build, if that have denuvo. Treating piracy as steam releases

Don't talk to the guy outside the sex store. Unless you're into that then go ahead. I warned you

1

4

u/Golden_Cultivation 13d ago

I’m going to play GTA V with NVE installed tonight. Just got my new RAM in the mail

2

u/Esperoni 13d ago

I saw the trailer for the NVE mod gameplay and graphics a few years back (maybe?) and it looked amazing. Hope you have a blast dude!!

2

u/Golden_Cultivation 13d ago

Hopefully it works out well! It should because I’m going from DDR4 2400 16gb total RAM to DDR4 3200 32gb. Should be night and day! Thanks for the well wishes

3

u/Pure-Acanthaceae5503 13d ago

I hope you have the greatest of times with 2077. I tried it and enjoyed it a lot but... There's this sinking feeling... This... Nothingness. It just grew bigger everyday, until all that I could was it.

4

u/Esperoni 13d ago

I hope so, been looking forward to this game for about 2 years. I've managed to avoid spoilers, don't really have an idea of what to expect. Only gameplay I've seen is the T poses and clipping out of vehicles while driving during the initial, buggy release.

3

u/Arlzo 13d ago

Please I beg you. The story of this game ? You’re gonna be devastated when it ends but you’ll love it

3

u/TALKATIVE_GOOFBALL 13d ago

I'm a patient gamer myself but sometimes find myself annoyed that I already know spoilers about a game. Any tips on how I can avoid GTA 6 spoilers until I get around to it in say...7 years?

2

u/Esperoni 12d ago

I have a feeling GTA will be one of the biggest releases in like 5-6 years. It's going to be difficult to avoid spoilers, especially on reddit. I would mute most gaming and GTA focused subs, even meme-based ones. I had to basically use reddit 90% on my browser (PC/Phone) to block content only because the app is shit. If all else fails just pay attention. Watch out for discord too if you are in any gaming focused servers.

u/Alfredison 13d ago

Suddenly, AAA giants will start to push for AI restrictions and regulations

332

u/PooBakery 13d ago

They will just no longer let anyone own their games and force cloud gaming on everyone.

156

u/dichtbringer 13d ago

Except now they instantly can't sell their shit to half the planet

71

u/TimoArrg 13d ago

Oooh this is dark but I 100% see it happening. Guess I will be playing old games from now till the end of time, locally xd

41

u/THE_KING_KROWN 13d ago

Dont worry friend there is a huge catalog to choose from. I dont think we need to worry about running out of them anytime soon. The thing i worry about most is one of my ram sticks going out and having to live the rest of my life with only 1 kidney.

8

u/Only--East 13d ago

With the way Xbox is limiting cloud gaming rn and how Stadia went to the grave, I can't see that happening.

4

u/Disma 13d ago

And then I'll never buy another ones of their games

3

u/ClownEmoji-U1F921 13d ago

They can't force shit. Nobody will buy a cloud game.

1

u/KhhhbzaDw3AaezWqfkQp 4d ago

Once the AI bubble bursts, they will need to sell all that compute in those data centers to somebody else. I see this future coming. And the sad part is, most people will be fine with that because it's convenient. Just like they pay for streaming movies and music now.

1

u/CandleTrue4303 3d ago

Why do people keep paying them then? Wtf?

1

u/Fishguin 9d ago

On the other hand there is a chance that vibe coding is going to get even more advanced and efficient. So people themselves just make new games that could outshine the AAA games and publish it the old way, making the cloud service feel like a waste. With budget and executive meddling being no longer a issue because a single indie developer is able to develop high end games a new Renaissance era for gaming approachs (Wishful thinking ofc)

88

u/marquesini 13d ago

AI is bigger than that fortunately.

116

u/dat_oracle 13d ago

unfortunately. it will be used for control and surveillance by governments. (in some part it's already the case, but it will be much more)

14

u/marquesini 13d ago

Yes it already is, however it affected the general public, much like the internet, or gps.

0

u/Academic_Issue4314 13d ago

Its also just printing cash rn and thats all anyone really cares about

4

u/saantonandre 12d ago

is AI printing cash? this is news to me

-10

u/Famous_Cup_6463 13d ago

Like what? I mean, I know about the license plate readers and face detection, but your tone is making it sound like they're going to be whipping us in caves to mine more silicone for the data centers.

What exactly do you think is going to happen?

7

u/JimbyGumbus 13d ago

isn't that exactly what theil's plan is? like, word for word?

4

u/NetherRegionsXplorer 13d ago

Look how restrictions and regulations have already turned out for AAA giants 😆

1

u/DoctorWaluigiTime 13d ago

Let's be honest the real reaction, if they notice at all, is the "drying tears with stacks of money" gif.

975

u/Familiar_Ad_8919 13d ago edited 13d ago

i know already they will specifically block linux so even if i wanted to play it i couldnt

another thing these companies love doing is only fixing bugs for nvidia, which is especially fun since u cant get any nvidia cards under 2x msrp right now in my region

192

u/Um_chunga_qualquer 13d ago

the reason i dont care much is because i mainly play racing sims and forza horizon and my 1060 runs them just good enough and gpus are too expensive in my country also, ill be more interested in gta 6 once the modding community starts doing their thing, thats what i like about gta games

71

u/TheOutrageousTaric 13d ago

you 1060 will have quite few years of juice left if you dont care about modern aaa slop. Look for used 1070/1080 ti if you want that extra performance. Those are relatively cheap because they dont support modern games anymore

God this used to annoy the hell out of me. I got my 4080 before the AI blow up, paid like £1100, but before that I had a 6700xt and snowrunner had this visual bug for years that ONLY affected RDNA2, not RDNA or RDNA3, JUST RDNA2, used to annoy the hell out me.

25

u/Familiar_Ad_8919 13d ago edited 13d ago

i have a 6700xt right now, i was gonna get a 9070xt back when it was only $~750, the absolute cheapest there is right now, from a sketchy website no less, is $~1050, which is more than the median monthly wage in my city

at least i got my 32gb ddr5 before ramageddon

10

u/SauretEh 13d ago

Why are you playing snowrunner if you don't actively enjoy being frustrated AF though. That's just a more authentic experience.

5

u/JGStonedRaider 13d ago

Bought a 3090 to play DCS in VR for £650 in 2022/23 (can't remember).

I would be looking to upgrade now but...

3

u/TheJesusGuy 13d ago

You paid 1100 for 4080 BEFORE the price increases..? It is less than that now used/refurbished.

2

u/AMDIntel 13d ago

I don't think that's been common for a long time now, fixing things only for nvidia cards. It certainly used to be but AMD has a lot more mindshare these days even if its mostly due to their CPUs.

3

u/F0cus_1 13d ago

The expectations are so high theres no way in hell they meet them

25

u/7URB0 13d ago

They've been sending out promotional emails selling merch and soundtracks and the game's not even released yet lol. I mean every GTA game has been a hype train, and not undeserved, but DAMN.

It's gonna be like a decade before I can afford hardware to play it on anyway, so at least MY expectations will be tempered by then. :P

19

u/CantoMk6 13d ago

same shit happened with cyberpunk. my only expectation is: does the amount you pay justify the amount of time/enjoyment you get out of the game? everything else is irrelevant. realistically, from what the gameplay looked like, it looked like gta on the rdr2 engine. Looks good but not going to be some ground breaking shit.

16

u/Anxiety_Fit 12d ago

Yeah. Sony been FA for way too long. FO time.

3

u/bottleofjizz 12d ago

Anyps5 decompiles the game though?

1

u/CallumCarmicheal 6d ago

Not exactly, you do not get the source code out of it. AnyPS5 works like WINE / Proton does, it offers a way for the game to communicate with the OS without the need for a middleman like an emulator to translate those calls or simulate the firmware responses.

→ More replies (1)

2

u/bazariuks 12d ago

No need for emulation*.

1

u/3ol1th1c 12d ago

Not anytime soon though

1

u/MMORPGnews 12d ago

Sony put tons of weird stuff in ps5 to prevent emus to working straight.

36

u/JazzlikeSchedule2901 13d ago

Decompilation is not emulation. It is literally rebuilding the source code by translating the machine code back into a higher level language. Usually C#

Emulation is when you attempt to recreate hardware instructions through software, and game on that with backups from the original console.

1

u/archieclark45 13d ago

So, exactly like they've done with every single GTA title since 1997?

Did everyone collectively forget that GTA V didn't get a PC release for a year and a half after the console launch?

Not to mention the inevitable launch bugs that come with releasing games on nearly endless hardware and software configurations. But hey, enjoy your "PC Master Race" status or whatever...

-5

u/paycadicc 13d ago

Would you not have waited to pirate it anyway?

I know It feels good to see some of these companies get their nose pushed in their own shit, but I see only see a few likely outcomes from AI cloned software, none of which are good:

  1. A race to the bottom where all software and games had get increasingly worse as spending the time to do anything by hand becomes uneconomical.

  2. More complex DRM to restrict decompilations (not sure about the technical details here) and subsequently worse user experiences because if it.

  3. Police state Internet where only verified applications can be installed without jumping through hoops and technical know how. (Government required OS-level restrictions)

But yay I guess

18

u/Evonos 13d ago

You forgot 4, company's abandoning the market and pushing ever faster for streamed services including games.

9

u/Theophrustus 13d ago

Or full closure of the whole industry, i mean who will make games when investors pull the plug on these studios from not earning anything, well prolly see more indies but AAA's would all shut down like flies in an electric zapper

I am extremely skeptical that there will be a well-functioning version of GTA6 available on PC before the official release. I feel like every couple of months there is all this hype about some fan-made port that never actually sees the light of day. If it was as easy as people think, it would happen way more often.

13

u/Sirmalta 13d ago

That last one is coming.

The matrix literally predicted this lol. Bots, ai, and a lack of ability to govern the internet will make it a wasteland and a new, separate internet will be created in its place.

New internet is gonna be boardeline useless but will be forced on all major providers making it unavoidable while the current Internet goes basically dark having most of it shut down.

Assuming humanity makes it this far anyway lol

Honestly the future is bleak as fuck.

6

u/EclipsoSnipzo 13d ago

My guess is that games will become online only, to the point where bits of code that are crucial to run them will be encrypted and streamed from a server at runtime.

Ofc, there will still be ways to get around this but that's the only solution I'm seeing in the short term

→ More replies (2)

4

u/ShitseyMcgee 13d ago

On top of that, using ai to reverse engineer a game means Sony will be bolstered in the “no physical media” push and other companies will start to make it a subscription or cloud based game.

u/Own_Proposal3827 13d ago

Yep, both the producer and the consumer suffers in this future.

38

u/Plaincow 13d ago

I really don't think they'll care much. It'll be such a tiny portion of the player base and likely people who weren't even going to buy it in the first place lol

12

u/lastdyingbreed_01 13d ago

Yeah people really underestimate the actual market lol. The only people who would try to play GTA 6 emulated would be tech savvy people who also have good hardware to handle it. Even then, the experience would be terrible initially, so I doubt many are going to spend time on it actually playing anyway.

8

u/Plaincow 13d ago

The average person doesn't even know what a browser is and still thinks "illegally downloading a game gets them a virus" so yea I couldn't agree more honestly

6

u/Demand_Repulsive 13d ago

I dont own a game console and I will not buy one for just this one game? PC gaming has grew way more than console because of covid lol

5

u/FarplaneDragon 13d ago

Right? Like is this happening before or after R* has made billions in sales and GTA6 goes down as one of the highest grossing games of all time? I get that people are mad and R* and Sony and want to see them fail but there is basically a 0% chance that if this happens that it'll have any noticable affect on them. AAA games are cracked and pirated constantly and every one of these companies are still standing and doing just fine despite that.

1

u/p0358 12d ago

Tiny? Your options on PC will be to either pirate the port or wait indefinite amount of time and then pay up. Tons of people will likely do it, there will probably be tutorials out there for morons too. The only way Rockstar can even save themselves is by having a PC version on release.

1

u/whatsssssssss 10d ago

people on this subreddit vastly overestimate their importance

0

u/sectix12 13d ago

I highly doubt that it will be tiny. If it can run on a machine cheaper than a ps5 even on the lowest possible graphics, a lot of people that were considering buying a console just to play will probably pirate it instead and save the money.

8

u/w0lvrne 13d ago

If it can run on a machine cheaper than a ps5 even on the lowest possible graphics

You will atleast need a system which probably costs double to triple a PS5

→ More replies (2)

u/Iamthe0c3an2 13d ago

Right, how many pirates are gonna spend all those tokens to basically vibe reverse engineer a game when cracking it is free but just takes time?

57

u/jarkark 13d ago

Because it's gonna take a hell of a long time for Rockstar to make a PC version for their game. They want to first milk console players before milking the PC players. GTA 5 for example was a console exclusive for a year and a half.

It's probably gonna be way faster to emulate GTA VI than to wait for a PC release to then crack.

u/tripplebeamteam 13d ago

Its the most anticipated game of the decade, someone out there would spend tens of thousands in tokens just for the prestige of doing it

9

u/Kentuckyfriedmemes66 13d ago

I bet you might be able to get Claude to vibe Crack Video games now if you want the original version and most pirates are impatiant anyways so they will just do that instead of waiting for somebody to do it now when AI can probably crack games the day they release now

even tho Rockstar said GTA 6 is releasing for PC in 2027 nobody is gonna wait for that anymore since PS5 emulation is basically finished already

1

u/JazzlikeSchedule2901 13d ago

I bet you might be able to get Claude to vibe Crack Video games

Not denuvo. It would probably be less complex for Claude or any advanced decompilation agent to just reverse engineer the source code of the game. Denuvo is very complex and works on dozens of layers of the computer and off the computer that Ai doesn't even really have access to, and shouldn't be given access.

Ai has been used to crack plenty of older games, but AFAIK not the latest version of denuvo.

2

u/r3volts 13d ago

Lots.
Being the group to bring one of the most anticipated games in history to the masses is a huge thing for these groups.

1

u/Efficient_Care8279 13d ago

There is no need to reversge engineer gta 6 to make it work in emulator Thats the whole idea emulating ps5 so u dont need rewrite ever game to work on pc

33

u/Ledstorm128 13d ago

They develop the game on PCs only to port it to PS5 and wait for 2 years to give us the PC build that they already have. It’s their own fault and also Sony’s for their stupid practices.

11

u/Demand_Repulsive 13d ago

I really hope it fucking gets back to then honestly. pc gaming has grew alot because of covid and they treat it has a strategy to make more money... i really hope they fucked hard on this tbh

192

u/nicer-dude 13d ago

That's a big issue. In the future they will prohibit the people from buying GPUs. Then they will stop rolling out consoles and games. Everything will wander to cloud based gaming as this is the only way for developers to keep their source code safe.

Don't say i did not warn you.

47

u/Dob_Rozner 13d ago

That was always the plan anyways. "You will own nothing and be happy" was ten years ago.

103

u/Famous_Cup_6463 13d ago

Ah yes, the familiar ominous "they."

Who exactly is going to be restricting people from buying GPUs? Nvidia? Why wouldn't people just start buying AMD GPUs? Why wouldn't someone else who is wealthy see the money on the table and decide to start producing GPUs? Do you think we're going to make it so only Nvidia, AMD, or intel are allowed to sell GPUs in the US or globally? How does any of that work?

XBOX and Playstation are going to stop selling consoles? Why wouldn't someone else start selling consoles? People want consoles. Supply and demand dictates someone will make them a console. Do you think congress is going to make it illegal to make a game console?

What happens if consumers don't want to migrate to cloud based gaming and just keep playing the stockpile of games they can buy from the last 30+ years? Are the feds going to show up and seize my gaming PC, gamecube, PS Vita, NES, etc? Are they going to raid my local used game stores?

Won't hobbyists who just want to make a fun game continue making games? I imagine the average person would be willing to send them $20 if it was pretty good. Even crazier, I imagine they'd be able to make a business out of that. We could call it a game studio.

41

u/pentox70 13d ago

14

u/Academic-Factor-4551 13d ago

This sentiment is so tiring to listen to.

The laws of physics exist. Cloud gaming is shit and will always be shit until a complete network infrastructure overhaul or some bleeding edge technology that gets over that hump, somehow.

Good fucking luck introducing that law lmaaaaaaao.

6

u/RazorCalahan 13d ago

"They" are free to do so, and I am free to simply stop buying games entirely then. I have enough games for a lifetime in my backlog anyhow, I'm fine not buying shit anymore, and I hopefully have enough old hardware laying around to last me for a lifetime as well (fingers crossed). If push comes to shove I'll just whip out my old Laptop, bought in 2006, to play Rome: Total War, Ground Control and Empire Earth till the end of time.

Why do we suddenly have a positive opinion of AI? What the hell changed?

841

u/TheFiveRing 13d ago

Because now it's being used to fuck over the companies that want to use it to fuck over us

It is a tool in the end. The problem has always been the people using it.

29

u/Dob_Rozner 13d ago

I've been saying that to people for awhile. In the hands of an individual, AI is great if used for good. In the hands of corporations, very bad. Just like all technology.

12

u/DJBunnies 13d ago

This is the bit most naysayers won't accept.

Guns don't shoot people, cars don't drive recklessly, and AI doesn't slop itself.

3

u/flexxipanda 13d ago

Its not that simple. The technology is so advanced that only a few big corps control it. Its not just "How" to use the stuff we get. But who is creating it and therefore controlling it.

We are still being fucked over by the AI companies. But everyone is okay with it because they have something to play.

5

u/TheNakedAnt 13d ago

In this analogy we are like idiot children playing with matches while they build nuclear bombs.

8

u/LittlestRedditor 13d ago

Yeah, say that in 2-5 years when all companies move to cloud based, it's impossible to buy any hardware, and they are selling us borderline toy tablets with iphone 4 chips. Subscription city here we come

Yes, but no. Used other master's rod and became other master's property with all what previous master had

u/TheFiveRing 13d ago

It's everyone's property now since it's all being released publicly

That previously was mostly a weapon against normal people. Now it's a weapon against normal people AND greedy companies too. So, at least, they have to rethink if they actually have the upper hand or not and act accordingly

saying "Nukes played a part in making sure Vietnam didn't become WW3" doesn't mean I'm automatically pro nuke. I can acknowledge that nukes in general are very bad but they are also probably the reason we never had WW3.

So I can say AI is not good for the world but also be happy that AI is going to decompile GTA6.

16

u/BrownAJ 13d ago

Nukes are exactly why DPRK is safe from any invasions today.

5

u/Sons-Father 13d ago

Yeah won’t happen. With emulation maybe but I’ve spent the last three days working with KyTyPS5 and it’s impressive but still far from ready for a game like GTA6. The performance loss is significant, at that point you’d need like a 5090 to get 15-20 fps on like low settings.

3

u/Efficient_Care8279 13d ago

1

u/Sons-Father 12d ago

I've been running and working on it the past few days. These demos often involve many fixes including game specific "patches". I agree with you but realistically I don't think for the average person GTA6 PC emulation will be attainable.

The community is simply helping Sony with its mission to digitize everything. And to assume they haven't used AI for programming and so on is wishful thinking.
